@CichlidAsh Well the main problem with boxing is its boxing....You are only limited to jabs uppercuts and whatever else you can do with your fist whereas MMA fighters use essentially all forms of martial arts. In a boxing ring a boxer will for sure beat an mma fighter because boxing is what they train for but on an octagon where you are forced to take the fight to the ground and worry about knees and elbows that boxer will be lucky to survive one round.

MMA fighters train in the most effective moves for their sport not the most effective moves in martial arts which would not have any sporting applications. There are illegal moves jujitsu fighters dont exhibit on stage such as elbow to the back. Elbows that are performed to the head in a specific angle are illegal. You also cant kick & knee someone when opponents hands are touching the ground. These are ufc rules but those same fighters know how to use it on a street fight.

He intended to stir up controversy and bring more attention to his entertaining style of fighting. He was also aware that the mental warfare was just as important as the physical. By the time his name became an imposing figure, most of his opponents were beaten before even entering the ring. But for the other 4 boxers, you're right...

I wouldn't call them trash talkers. They just have alot of condfidence. Like Muhammad Ali, he was so full of confidence and look how many fights he won. Boxers have to have confidence. @looopful your perspective is optimistic but there's a few things to consider. Ali was very aware of the showmanship aspect the sport. He intended to stir up controversy and bring more attention to his entertaining style of fighting. He was also aware that the mental warfare was just as important as the physical. By the time his name became an imposing figure, most of his opponents were beaten before even entering the ring. But for the other 4 boxers, you're right...
