  • I like the setup except for the the giant piece of ply wood...that has to be the least aerodynamic object ive ever seen...half of the horsepower is used just to compensate for the drag lol:( but again, sweet building on the motor itself.

  • That would be cool if you could set up a progressive link to get rid of the bog on the low end. #1 carb tuned rich while running the #2 carb lean for top end. Its rough but whatever, best get some air filters.

  • @enel1221 There's a limit to how much air and fuel an engine can take. Given that they're chainsaw carbs, you're probably okay, but putting too large a carb on an engine makes it bog, and produce less power than you think it would. I've seen a lot of rookie guys put a 1000 CFM holley on a relatively mild 350 Chevy, and wonder why it won't go two feet without stalling.

    It'll be interesting to see how this setup operates under load. Please, show this when you're done.

  • @enel1221 Assuming the original carb was set up properly. Given that the engine can only suck in so much air, more fuel will = less power. Also, less fuel will = less power. Get a Gunson Colortune, it'll save you a lot of work.

  • @russ13b ya if i wanted to spend money the obviously i wouldn't do this but i used what i had laying around so i did this setup for free

  • @enel1221 But you must also be able to get the air/fuel out at the same rate (not only bigger exhaust, but more engine power). You cant just throw more and more gas on the same spark and expect it to do anything.. People dont think about flow. How much exhaust energy does it put out? Who knows, but it needs to put out more to accept more air/fuel.

  • @enel1221 don't listen to these knobs, dual carbs will definatly increase power, more air+ more fuel = more power, now your right porting it (without a polish on intake) so you can get that air and fuel in there. how did you make your supercharger? smog pump? psi?

  • u should make this a dual throttle setup. It will give you a great range of throttle control. Have the first carbuerator engage and when it hits half or three fourths throttle then the second carbuerator engages and delivers that extra punch. its sorta like a four barrel carbuerator on a muscle car.

  • ya well i need to make another video of what it looks like now but we have 2 air filters on it and the throttle linkages hooked up but the way we have it, both open at the same time seems to work ok, we need to put a bigger fuel line on it though the engine isn't getting enough fuel

    and why? well see..if u use one carb ur only gonna get one carb. worth of a power

    if u use 2..itll use 2 carbs worth of power which means twice as much of gas and air going in the engine..they could rig it up to use either both carbs at once..OR..use the dual barrel effect which half way throttle only uses one carb..if u kick it (or floored) itll use both =]

  • it makes the engine run with twice the gas and air mixture then it noramly would so its awsome

  • y did you grind down the cam? more lift=more air=more power

  • on b&s engines on the compression stroke the intake valve lifts up slightly to relieve pressure thus making it easier to start, grinding that down with keep the valve shut and giving more power.

  • obviously u didn't read my comment on that, on the compression stroke briggs made the intake valve release slightly thus making it easier to start but giving it less power so by grinding that away you get more power...its just common sense

  • @enel1221 Isn't the start-up decompression lobe on a "spring return" centrifugal lever, making it remove itself from the cam once the engine has started?

  • yeah these carbs are hurting this motor. they are too small. get something bigger. i bet i could take one tillitson carb and out run ur two.

  • both of those accually are too much carb for the engine, putting anything bigger would hurt the engines performance (big isn't always better)
