  • When my Tascam is connected to Sonar, for my channel it gives the option of 'non' or 'tascam (1 in, 1 out)', but doesn't allow me to click on this. any help?

  • @TicTacJoe95

My first thought is that you are using a wrong driver mode. See more about driver modes in "Sonar First Time Set Up"

  • Hello, I just connected a tascam us-800 and a Yamaha Audiogram. This morning I could not hear anything. I found out that the main output was coming through the tascam while my headphones were coming out of the Audiogram. How do I get the main output to select the Audiogram? Am I doomed to go to each track and select it in the audio properties? Or is there some way that I can select the Audiogram as the main output without disabling it in the Options? I want to be able to switch between the two.

  • @gamhazell

    Hi

In Sonar go to Options / Audio / Drivers.

Deselect the ones you don't want and leave only the AUDIOGRAM selected for output :)

    Good luck

  • hi, since yesterday i haven't been able to record anything, i setup the input but the meter doesn't show any level. i've tried this with a mic and a guitar before and i had no problems, but now it wont work and also the button where you arm to record now is green and instead of displaying "R" it says "RD" what can i do?

  • @Alexander1208 This makes me think something happened yesterday; but what ?

Sounds very much like a wrong driver mode to me. See my video "Sonar First Time Set Up" for more about driver modes.

Also be sure you are using the latest drivers for your sound card or audio interface.

    I hope this helps

    Good luck

  • HELP! I have Sonar 3 Producers Edition. How do I listen to my synth? Audio 1 Audio 2 MIDI 1 MIDI 2 I select Track Properties Input is set at NONE I've gone through channels 1 through 5 and I don't hear anything. Bank is set at NONE I've selected insrtuments but still nothing. What am I doing wrong?
  • @Villantic

First, be sure you are using the right driver mode. See more about this in "Sonar First Time Set Up"

Next, see my video called "Sonar Soft Synths - Basic Setup"

    I hope this helps

  • Also when i click on a sample i get no sound

  • Hi there. could you help me once again. I'm using sonar x1 and doing ok as it goes. the problem i have is, is that when i close the programme and re-click on the icon on my screen, sonar x1 wont load up. i end up having to re-start my computer to get it going again. what could the problem be, do you think?

  • @royb1001

Hi - That sounds like a problem with your computer and /or the installation of sonar; more than just a sonar setting. If you click on a sample and get "no sound" this indicates a wrong driver mode. But the other things you describe indicates a need for re-installing the software.

I don't know if your computer is not strong enough to run SONAR, or perhaps you just need driver updates. Be sure you have all program updates as well as the latest drivers for your hardware.

    Good luck

  • hi there and thanks for your previous help. i've encountered another problem and was wondering if you could help. i'm using sonar x1 and have recently created a piece of music that i am working on, of which is only about a minute and a half long and have about 7 midi tracks going on with it. when i closed sonar x1 and re-opened it again, the piece of music doesn't make any sound even though the sequencer is running. also, i get sound on each track when i press my midi controller. can you help?

  • @royb1001

That could be a number of things . . .

Perhaps you've saved it as a midi file? You need to save as a normal file once you are using soft synths etc.

I would need more info on how you have things setup.

  • at 1:01 mine only has none...what is the promblem??

  • @georgemnrs

Ahhh - first things first - you must select the right "driver mode"

See my video called "Sonar First Time Set Up" for more about driver modes.

    Good luck

  • @dustypuppy cheers mate ;)

  • yes you the man thank you so much and sorry how i talk english is my sec. laguage i talk spanish.

  • Thank you for the video I like them all. I want to know how you can open the box where you play my is not there is in stop only.

  • @mrgallo18

I think you mean the transport bar.

Go to Views / Toolbars / Transport Large

I hope this is what you meant :)

  • hey, dustpuppy

how do I record midi without neding a piano. I know i can draw the notes but how do i play using my keyboard?

  • @Supermikejv

I don't recall right now but there is some way to use your qwerty keyboard. I believe it was seperate software you need to download because its not built into Sonar (but it should be).

  • @dustypuppy could you please do some research? i need an alternate until i get a keyboard. id be ever so thankful

  • @Supermikejv

A google search quickly reveals many possibilities. Do a search for "qwerty to MIDI" or "play midi from my qwerty keyboard"

    Good luck

  • is sonar 6 le supposed to come with the cakewalk tts-1? please somebody help me

  • @CONORMOLL0Y

No, sorry TTS-1 doesn't come with sonar 6 le

  • @dustypuppy k thanks

  • In my synth rack I only have Triangle II and Drop Zone. Could you tell me why i don't have the others? - please help?

  • @latv98

Some of the light versions of Sonar don't include many plugins. Which version do you use ?

  • Your tutorials are extremely helpful. Really! Sonar needs to quit fooling around and just go ahead and hire you for their tutorials. You have no idea how much I appreciate this :)

  • @madeyes4u

    Thats nice to hear

    Thanks very much :)

  • This program WILL NOT recognize my microphone OR keyboard. It's useless.

  • @shiningstars109

Is this a USB mic ? and USB MIDI keyboard? What version of windows are you using?

Have you tried all 3 driver modes?

. . . see my video called "Sonar First Time Setup" for more about driver modes

  • @dustypuppy Yes, I've tried continuously. They are both USB. I'm using Windows Vista (which I know really sucks... getting a Mac in December.)

  • @shiningstars109

darn - it still should work :P

Sorry I don't know what to tell you there - perhaps check on the cakewalk forum

  • Comment removed

  • When i try to overwrite it says access denied

  • @WhereIzPluto

Thats strange but there must be a reason.

Try saving it as a new name - then delete the old one later.

  • @dustypuppy Thanx Ill try but at the moment a problem im having is with my vocals. There is like a milisecond delay when i play it back. its very noticable. Im using a laptop so imma try to delete some things to free space. do you know of any ddevices i can buy to stop this latency

  • @WhereIzPluto

There are audio interfaces available for recording - see my video called "Near Zero Latency Software Monitoring" for more on that.

However, your problem is sounding like its driver related. What driver mode are you using in Sonar? And did you try all 3 modes?

See more about driver modes in my video called "Sonar First Time Set Up"

    Good luck

    Dwight

  • I have sonar 6 le. It used to work fine but now no audio and none of my drives are working i have my amp pluged in to the computer but nothing works. can you help?

  • @kerkes145

I will try to help - but lets start with your drives - Do you mean your hard drives are not working or do you mean drivers? Perhaps you need to re-install drivers - you can do this from the device manager which is in control panel, depending on your version of windows . . ..

  • @dustypuppy Well first off There is no sound through both headphones and speakers.

  • @kerkes145

You cannot use Sonar if your computer doesn't have a working sound card. Once your computer has sound, I will try to help you with Sonar.

    good luck

  • how can i play a imported music to sonar? and i cant "play " the piano, cause i dont have piano keys or something like it... idk

  • @DSauthier

You can import audio into Sonar. Simply highlight an audio track and go to File / Import / Audio.

You can also use the MIDI sounds even if you don't have a keyboard. Open up the piano roll or staff view and draw the notes in with the pencil tool.

  • hello again just wanna thank you for helping me out with my drivers! i now can enjoy the beautiful sound of cakewalk tts!!! thank you for helping!

  • @speedygonzales55mph

    You're welcome

    I'm glad I could help :)

  • Hello! Thank you so much. That's so kind of you to answer my queries. Your tip and guidance was so helpful and I've found out a way to retrieve hidden tracks in the console view. Thank you once more. Please keep guiding me like this. I have more doubts which I'd be asking in the coming days. Hope you don't mind.

    Regards

  • @creativityhails

You're welcome - I'm glad I could help. Feel free to ask more questions when needed.

    Dwight

  • Hello, I tried to get back the hidden tracks like you had directed. The thing is the hidden track returns to its place in the track view, but it doesn't return or re-appear in the console view. Suppose I hide track 3, then in the console view it is hidden. Now how do I get track 3 back in the console view? I did as you said, but I am not getting it.

    Regards

  • @creativityhails

Hi - I had never encountered this before so it took me a while yesterday to descover how to do that. They sure didn't make this one easy.

Anyway I see now that has no effect in the CONSOLE view.

SO . . . you need to open console view and right click over at the end - past all strips - in the blank spot. Right click to reveal "Show/Hide Strips . . ."

    Good luck

  • Hello! How are you? I have a doubt. In Sonar, in the "Console" view, when I hide one track then that track gets hidden. Now what must I do to get that track back? Suppose I hide track 3, then how do I get back track 3? The same thing in the main window too other than the console view, how do I get back the hidden track?

    Regards

  • @creativityhails

    Hi

In the track view, click the Zoom tool button’s down arrow and select "Show All Tracks" from the Zoom tool menu.

  • Hello there! Thank you very much for your guidance. I would be needing a lot of them in the future. Now at last I have some one who can guide me and teach me. Thanks a bunch. By the way, do you know sites from where I can download VST plug-ins and samples?

    Regards

  • @creativityhails

Hi - thanks for your kind comments - I am glad to help :)

Sorry I don't know of any places in particular to get VSTs and samples. I suppose you can just google it :)

    Good luck

  • Hi there! Thank you very much for clearing my doubts. You had mentioned : (2/ you shouldn't need that "wav out mix" - with soft-synths you can simply freeze them. This does the work for you and turns MIDI into AUDIO). Would you please explain this to me and tell me how to freeze a track.

    Regards

  • @creativityhails

Right click your mouse on a MIDI track and select Freeze / Synth. This takes a moment and converts the MIDI into an audio clip. This frees up processing power since it also puts the soft synth to "sleep". Now sonar only has to play a wav file. Later on, if you need to edit the midi some more, simply unfreeze it to bring it back to its original state.

The newest version has a freeze icon on each track. You can also freeze audio tracks with FX the same way

  • Hello there! I have a problem. When I record on theMIDI track in Cakewalk it gets recorded. But when I want to increase or decrease the volume or velocity of the recorded track , it doesn't work. More over the panning function also doesn't work. Could you please tell me what the problem might be? Must I convert the file into an Audio format to make volume, velocity and panning adjustments? More over the volume control for coverting audio to MIDI doesn't have the Wave out mix in that speaker.

  • @creativityhails

    Hi

1/ You don't need to convert to audio for this to work. Velocity should work on the recorded MIDI track. For volume and panning, do this on the synth's audio output track (if you're using soft synths)

2/ you shouldn't need that "wav out mix" - with soft-synths you can simply freeze them. This does the work for you and turns MIDI into AUDIO.

    Good luck

  • Hi again. At :53 in this vid you have master/subgroup/effect send track. I have a template without those. How do you add those in? I cant believe something so basic and important takes a manual,an hour clicking, and another frustrated embarrassing question to you to achieve. I think Im gonna crawl back to my old analog deck. Hopefully she'll take me back after all the neglect and bad things Ive said about her. She was always so good to me!

  • @loungefly1

LOL I can relate to what you're going through haha

Thats why I do these videos. What seems easy to me can cause hours of frustration for others. So feel free to ask questions anytime -I'm happy to help :)

If you started with the NORMAL template, you should have MASTER already there. Right click in this area and select "Insert Stereo Bus" - you can add as many as you need. Rename them as you like.

    Good luck

  • @dustypuppy Thanks. I followed your vid in how to make a template. I couldnt do it cause at the last step it said the action was denied. After many hours and F words,I ran Sonar as administrator which was then all successful. But I ended up saving a ridiculous template made in anger with no master track. Yes,I right click and can add a "buses",but I still dont have "master". So my "normal" template has become abnormal and I cant change it! ARRGGG-!

  • @loungefly1

I learned something new about administrator rights - thanks.

As administrator, start a new project and use the "16 track audio" template. This template has a Master and a couple of other busses. Right click and delete any audio tracks or busses you don't want. Go to Insert / Midi track (if you need some MIDI) - drag your tracks around in any order - customise it as you like then save as normal template, overwriting the abnormal one :P

    good luck

and keep that sense of humour :)

  • Dear dustypuppy I cannot hear anything because I dont have a MIDI input device, I thought that speakers would be sufficient, and I dont have a MIDI keyboard. What should I do to hear my music?

  • @TheEverythingFactory

    Hi

You don't need a MIDI KEYBOARD to hear music. All audio sounds will work anyways. And to hear MIDI sounds, simply use one of the software synths and draw the notes in from the staff view or piano roll view.

    good luck

  • Hello, in my track parameter I don't see the effect button that says POST even though I clicked on ALL view. How do I make that appear?

When I open a NORMAL Project, it is there, but when I right click and add an additional audio track, it just doesn't show. Thanks

  • @adomayor

Hi - I know what you mean :)

Simply right click in the new audio track (around the parameters) and select "Insert Send" - From there you can select which one you want to insert.

    Good luck

  • this is so hard, can i make music without a instrument connected, and can i smaple with this ?????????????

  • @jukeria

    Hi

I'm sorry its hard - but thats why I make these videos :P

Yes you can make music without midi or a keyboard. You can still record audio and use samples etc.

    Good luck

  • hello, how do i get studio quality vocals ?

  • @ParadisioFilms I have a video called "Mixing Vocals in Sonar"

    I hope that helps

  • OK!!! I had to sign up for a Youtube account just so I can thank you for a very clear video on how to set up sonar!! I have been struggling for several months, and now with a template set up-wow! I love it! As a side note, I am also a piano technician here in N. Calif-and RPT-36 yrs exp., local State University Tech for 22 yrs.

    Thanks again dustypuppy!

  • @tunerman440

Thank you for going to the trouble tunerman :) I appreciate your comment !

  • How do i take out my clipping?

  • I have no idea what i am doing but i know some people who have used this program and have had great results. is there a website that would help people beginning their venture into recording in semi pro quality?

  • I was SO crazy about getting the MIDI driver all set,I forgot about trying a 1/4 to 1/8 from the keyboard to the comp.,+when I did,the souncard showed up in BOTH playback+record master sections.Even tho my #6 doesnt look just like your #7 program+ i gotta fish around for stuff + change some things,AND do a few seconds of your video, then go to my program. At least now, your videos are showing me easilly what to do.Please keep making them and THANXXX 4 the help.

  • @UzerBoy1 Sounds like you're making some headway. I'm glad to hear it :)

    Good luck

  • I didn't mention that I removed the VISTA + installed WIN.7,which you already told me i might have problems with getting the DRIVER for my MIDI Cable.I did,but it says its working. ALSO in the POST i just did,i wanted you to know that i AM using an AUDIO trak, which is just showing "NONE" in it + NO OPTIONS to choose from.I did go to the "TRAK Inputs boxbut there is nothing in the "AUDIO Inputs" drop down screen nor is anything there under "SOURCE",says "NONE" there too, what to try now?

  • @UzerBoy1

You must try the 3 different driver modes (inside sonar) but I believe its ASIO that you'll want to use now. Once you get the right driver mode, your input will show up :)

    Good luck

  • I got my DRIVER installed + started following your 1st video. Right from the start,it didnt look at all like your SONAR6(Mine is 6 6XL). I only had 2 TRACKS there. 1 audio,+ 1 MIDI.I just named 1st trak+ all else was done, cept just MAX in trak at top right where there is ONLY,MIN+MAX,for PARAMS,which were placed a bit dif.tho. but NO 3rd box,in trak(? is that). My INPUT just said NONE+nothing else,it did not show input options to choose.Where do I get INPUT from.It just says NONE in the box?

  • this guy sounds like jack sparrow XD

  • one question...why does when im record my guitar..it doesnt get clean sound..I hear a lot of buzz sound..what should I do...(I`m plug in my guitar into audio interface)

  • Stupid comment system isn't working, when I select inputs, I can see my soundcard but when I hover over it, it does not expand, so I cannoy choose a left or right channel

  • @Nogert

By the way . . . don't just hover; I think you have to actually CLICK it :)

  • when I select input I can see my soundcard, but when I try to open the next box by hovering over it, nothing happens, it does not expand.

  • Hi Nogert

That seems like a driver mode problem. See my video called "Sonar First Time Set Up" for more about driver modes :)

    Good luck

  • hi wats the serial # for this program

  • great tutorial! How to make a guitar sound like a piano or other instrument?

  • thank you

You would need a MIDI guitar to make sounds like piano or other instuments

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial. It's much easier to follow than the one in the manual

  • Thank you. After spending hours, I found your video that sorted me out. Once again, Thank you.

  • cool :)

    You're welcome

  • hi dustypuppy vince here re no tts-1 see below from tech support fyi if u r interested. thanks for your help and getting back to me anyway

Thank you for contacting Cakewalk Technical Support. Unfortunately,

SONAR LE doesn't come with the TTS-1. That is a mistake in the

tutorials and the manual. You should substitute Dreamstation or

DropZone for the TTS-1 when going through the Tutorials.

  • can anyone help- i've just got sonar 6 followed all the install guff but working thro the tutorials cannot find tts-1 soft synth. have tried reinstalluing it but it aint there. and yes it is a bona fide copy registered etc. any ideas anyone?

  • sorry I never heard of someone not having tts-1

what version of Sonar6 do you have?

It makes me think you are not looking in the right place.

Look at my video called "Sonar Soft Synths - Basic Setup"

    I hope this helps

  • Wow I just recorded my voice and I REALLY HATE how it sounds. Is there anything that can, like, change it at all? Seriously, i thought my voice was ALOT better then that monstosatie. MAN it SUCKS

  • hahaha

    sure you can

    see my video called

    Mixing Vocals in Sonar

There, I give you a few tips and tricks :)

    good luck

  • This is a simple problem but cant figure it out! When I record a guitar track and play it back it plays at double the speed. I noticed that when im recording that the time in the transport isnt right! its recording 4 seconds of me playing and translating that to 1 real time second in playback, in turn speeding up what I played.????

  • I'm having trouble with recording audio off of a microphone. It will only record about 5 seconds and then it stops recording and on the bottom it says "Dropout" in red. Do you know why this happens?

  • do you still have problem with the droupout thing

  • Thanks!!! Thanks VERY MUCH!!!! I subscribed to you!

  • thanks i figured it out you just have to export the file as a wmp file...

  • My mic is plugged in, but it wont come up anywhere and wont let me record anything.

  • ok i got sonar 6 can i record music in that band how cuz the wave from my vocals not showing up or playing

  • First you need to make some settings - Be sure you have all the latest updates for your computer and drivers for your sound card. Then try the different driver modes inside Sonar. See my video called "Sonar First Time Set Up" for more help with driver modes etc.

    good luck :)

  • hi im having trouble with my midi playback. I have this program, an m-audio profire 610, and a dgx 505 midi keyboard that is hooked up via usb. The program recognizes the keyboard and i am able to use the patches and it shows the notes when i record. But i can't get the sound to play thru my monitors. It only works through my keyboard speakers. Everything else works fine when i record audio. Any suggestions?

  • You have it hooked up right if you want to use the MIDI sounds from your keyboard. You will just need a small mixing board to MIX the output from your keyboard with the output of your computer. Then plug your monitors into the OUTPUT from the mixing board.

However; if you use a softsynth as your midi output, it should come thru your monitors in your present setup.

    Good luck

    Dwight

  • ooo ok...whats a good inexpensive mixer board you would suggest?

also, do i hook the mixer up to my profire audio interface? im not quite sure how that works

  • You won't need to spend much - you could get by with as small as a 4 channel - look for Behringer name - inexpensive but very good. Be sure to get a STEREO one.

Plug the audio output from your MIDI keyboard into one stereo strip, your profire interface output can go to another stereo strip; If you have a mic or guitar you can plug it into another etc.

The output from the mixer will be your powered monitor speakers.

See my video "How to Hook up a Mixing Board with your Computer"

    good luck

  • hey i have sonar 6 xl and need the mp3 decoder program they only give you a 30 day trial where can get it at and how much??? thanx...

  • Sorry, I'm really not sure. Why not save it as .wav then decode it with windows media player or other free software :)

  • thanx . sorry im new at this . how do you decode it with windows media player ?

  • I have turned songs from CD into MP3s using windows media player before, but just now I tried to convert a wav - I don't see how :( sorry.

Instead, search through Google for "convert wav to mp3 Free" You'll find some free ones there.

    Good luck

  • thank you so much! this was very helpful. I'm just getting started...

  • excellent :)

I am glad to hear that.

    All the best to you

  • is sonar home studio can handle audio and video?

  • Sonar Producer Edition can handle VIDEO but I'm not sure about the "home studio" versions.

  • ok so i tried using the different drivers, and i did the stuff you suggested, but it still is not working. I have my mic set up and it works fine and dandy. It produces sound when im in sonar and out of the program. But now both my input and output isn't working when i try to "arm" it. Im srry if im causing you a headache :(

  • Uninstall SP3! I've reinstalled XP 2 times now and had serious problems with my Soundcard and Cubase when I had SP3 installed. Now I have Sonar and XP SP2 and it works fine (however Cubase refuses to be installed... can't have it all I presume).

  • XP sp3 is my system. ya i have done that...i made it the default audio. I can listen to anything i want (internet, itunes, video games) just not sonar. Its baffling me, is there anything else i can do?

  • Yes :)

Open Sonar and go to Options / Audio / and select the Drivers tab. In the OUTPUT section does your 610 show up? Be sure there is a check in the box the one you've plugged your speakers into (likely 1-2)

Take the check boxes away from the others (in the output section)

Leave the INPUT ones all checked

I assume you're using the ASIO driver mode but have you tried all 3 ?

  • well i don't know how, but it randomly started working. The driver mode is MME 32 bit. The only problem now is my playback sounds dreadful. Its slow, crackly, and almost sounds like a robot voice. Very bad. Is there anything i can do?

  • I am sorry you are having such problems with that. I was hoping the ASIO driver mode would work best for you. If MME is slow and crackly you could adjust the Latency slider but that won't help if its distorting the sound (like a robot) ARGH

I think you need to use the ASIO driver mode.

I read on the internet its recomended for your Profire610

  • do i need midi stuff in order to use sonar? What i have right now is an acoustic guitar, profire 610 audio interface, regular guitar cables, 2 krk rockit 8 monitors, and a regular electric piano. Do i need anything else?

  • Hi

You don't need midi stuff to use Sonar. Does your accoustic guitar have a pickup ? If not you likely need a microphone.

Your profire 610 is a nice interface and also handles MIDI - so if your electric piano has MIDI ports, you could take advantage of MIDI when you need to (down the road)

    good luck

  • ya sonar picks up my input when i play guitar (i do have mics and pickups), but after im done recording i can't hear the playback. I have tried all of the outputs and nothin works. Maybe im missing something or overlooking something here?

  • You need to make the profire610 the default audio for your computer. I seem to think thats the first step. When you play a youtube video or an mp3 do you hear the sound? You will use the 610 for all your audio in and out.

I could help you set that as default if you need a hand.

What Operating System do you use ?

  • on second thoughts; you wouldn't have to make it the default, but this should make it easier to configure.

Without being default, you would still be able to set it up in Sonar to play back on the 610. Obviously you have the inputs working.

    hmmmm

  • How do I get my microphone to work with it? It's saying that Sonar does not support the drives... I was using a USB Microphone, a Realtek, and a Screming Bee.. I don't know why it won't work.

  • This is likely caused by a wrong driver mode. Try all 3 driver modes in Sonar. See my video called "Sonar First Time Set Up" for more about that.

Its also important to update your drivers for your sound card and OS etc.

    Good luck

  • Wow, thanks so much! I got it fixed. Awesome explaination too. Great video.

  • Another question too, when I open Sonar, before it even comes up with the box that says if I want to open, or create a new project.. it comes up with something telling me that there are "No MIDI Outputs Selected", ans when I go to choose my output, it comes up with something that says "inputs" and "outputs". the input box is empty, and the outpu box has one text saying, "Microsoft MIDI Mapper".... it's confusing, do you know what might be causing it?

  • Those settings show what MIDI device you are using. Perhaps you don't have a MIDI keyboard so that top box will remain empty (input)

But in the lower box, you should select the one thats available. You won't have any MIDI sound until you select one there. And once you do, that box will stop appearing at startup.

Then if you need it, its under Options / Midi Devices

    good luck

  • Thank you so much! this helps out so much!

  • That's great - I'm glad it helps :)

    Thanks

  • í'm from holland how can you mix up Traccs best with sonar 6 producer edition.??

  • Hi There

Sonar 6 producer is a great program for recording and editing audio and midi. It is a complete recording studio in software form.

I'm sorry I don't understand what you are asking. (blush)

  • i mean like if i record something

how can i get the sound right with what do i mix it off

  • ok I see;

We call it a mixdown - or exporting audio. Once you've recorded your song, you can export it from Sonar in wav or mp3 format. To see this done, watch my video called "Exporting Audio in Sonar"

    Hope this helps

  • but what about the timing? if im recording the rhytm and the lead ,, but the lead was late

  • Once you have it set up right, there should be no problems like this. Something must not be right. Have you tried all 3 driver modes? Also make sure you have the most recent drivers for your sound card.

  • ive used sonar 8,, while i am recording in track1 (guitar rhytm) and track2 is the ( lead),, but when i played it,, the track2 was late to play than the track1,,it takes 2 seconds late<< and i used only 1 sound card what realtik audio i want to use?

  • If your sound card is capable of zero latency monitoring, you need to use the ASIO driver mode. See my video called "Sonar First Time Set Up" for more about DRIVER MODES.

    Good luck

  • wow thanks man big help

  • why i cant hear nothing?? im doing everything right..and everything is allright with my sound system i did it with a drummer but i couldnt be able to switch to another channel i mean instrument.

this is realy pissing me off ,i believe everything is allright that i was doing

  • Have you assigned a midi channel for the track ? Also try using a software synth. The TTS-1 has many instrument sounds. See my video called "Sonar Soft Synths - Basic Setup"

    good luck

  • Wow, you are one helpful mofo. lol... Thanks, bro!

  • cool :)

    thanks

  • great!!!!!

  • one last thing!

my midi is m-audio oxygen8 USB!

plz let me know if your still there

  • hi - I hope I can help.

please also watch my video called "Sonar Soft Synths - Basic Setup"

  • im sorry but im havin a problem!

i think i did everything u said, but still when i press on my midi-controller it wont sound anything!, when i open the cakewalk TT-S and play wit the sounds i can hear it! but not on my midi plz let me know wat to do

    cheers

  • probably a dumb question, but how do you make it so you can hear yourself on the mic through your headphones during recording.

  • not a dumb question at all.

You can use the input echo button - each track has one - looks a bit like a happy face.

Yellow is on and you should hear yourself. This is called "Software Monitoring" and you may experience some delay unless you have a sound card with zero latency.

If you use a mixing board, it is better to monitor through that - hardware monitoring.

    I hope that helps

  • Thanks! :D

  • I want to record an album, but I don't think I need an audio interface do I? The soundcard that came along with my computer should do the job? I use Sonar and I can still get the sound from the virtual instruments. I know audio interface have inputs and outputs, but I don't need them. As for latency, well, I only drag the notes in piano roll view to make the background music. The only inputs I need is for vocals, and I use a USB mic which has its own audio interface. Do I interface?

  • Thats right - you'll do fine :)

    Good luck

  • If you use up all 16 midi channels how do you add more sounds?

  • Thanks

Thats a very good question. I guess the best thing would be to render some sounds permenantly into audio and free up those midi channels.

  • Hi

I hope I can help. I recently uploaded a video called "How to Hook up a Mixing Board with your Computer"

I think you should watch that first - I hope it helps.

  • yea baby yea baby!!! thanks alot!!!!

  • Hi, I'm having problems with a clipping sound when I playback my audio track after recording my guitar. I'm using TonePort UX1 for my input and output. Do I need to change something in my toneport or cakewalk. When I session drummer in the midi file it sounds just fine no clipping or worbily sound. Thanks your video really helps getting started.

  • Maybe you recorded the guitar too loud - that will cause clipping. Re-record it at a lower volume level. You might be able to adjust the volume on your TonePort or else just the guitar. Also perhaps its only clipping at playback ? Turn the volume of that track down if thats the case.

    good luck

  • This was great, even better than the official ones. Thanks.

  • Nice. I've been watching all you're videos over and over again to make sure I don't miss something because I've brought Sonar 8 Producer. You're using Sonar 6 but it's pretty much the same. Can you tell me what Audio Interface you used? I saw it said M-Audio, but M-Audio what? What I need now is an audio interface, but I don't want to buy it online because it might go wrong and hard as hell to return. Happened to me many times before. I hope they have it at BestBuy or something.

  • I use the M-Audio Delta 1010. I also had great results with the M-Audio Firewire.

There are many types and brands of these available. Its important to get one that boasts "Near Zero Latency software monitoring" and supports the ASIO driver mode.

    Good Luck
