  • this shit makes me so angry its a joke 2 years old what a life......the people should have diesel put on them and a match sick to go with it

  • Horses should not even be allowed to be shown as a 2 year old under saddle! Same for race horses! The horse is still growing & is still a baby! It's all about the money with horses that are padded & shown!

  • If you show, you are part of the problem. PERIOD.

  • holy crap, those riders even just LOOK evil. check out the dude round 3 minutes hunched over and tell me he's not an actual vulture in a human suit.

  • @sandrasmituk so true!!

  • hate this shit...its disgusting....and these dumb ass redneck assholes who couldnt properly ride a horse if their life depended on it. All hunched over, stirrups too long....makes me sick and i see WAY too much of it where i live. Redneck cowboys as we call them around here...

  • i used to believe if the usda stopped us from showing horses that walking horses would still be good for something because of thier size they would be worth feeding and selling for meat but since the usda has pretty much stopped that also i guess the usda should have to feed them as long as they live because if we cant show them or kill for meat they are worthless

  • @MrAndywheeler you disgust me.

  • @MrAndywheeler What about as just pleasure animals? You seem to have a very limited idea of what these horses can be used for. I will argue that the vast majority of these horses are owned by hunters, trail riders, pleasure riders and people participating in open or lower level shows. Where big lick does not exist. Hell I've even seen them do gaited dressage and EVENTING. Yes, gaited horses can jump.

  • Was the 2 yr old champ (at 2:55) obviously lame? I mean, you don't even need a gov't inspector t tell that horse isn't right.

  • Some of the riders on the "padded" horses sit like gorillas. They look as stupid as the horses do.

  • Things like this are why I have no interest in horse shows. Too many people seem to care more about "winning" than treating the animals with kindness and respect. Win a blue ribbon? Big deal! Got a shiny little trophy? Who cares? I have Walking Horses who are happy, loving, and super-smooth gaiting BAREFOOT. That beats all. I doubt that sored and abused horses care much at all for their "people". And they certainly don't care if they win a ridiculous ribbon or trophy.

  • @oneblackhorse I totally agree with you here 100%! I have had TWHs for the past 15+ years and Never have had any of them padded, nor would I Ever! Have never shown any of them either! Even though mine have the bloodlines and all it takes to win ribbons! I prefer TWHs for the Cadillac rides they provide, flatshod!

  • @SurprizedDaily Dosen't matter, flat shod can be just as bad. the problem is in the breeding start breeding for a more natural gaited horse and refuse to use the flashy show stallions that are bred for use with these methods. The problem is systemic and it will take a different mind set from breeders to correct it.

  • @hs1541 Thanks for the suggestions but, my horses are and have all been bred from old lineages. They all get the job done just fine. My stallion is only about 15.1 H and just so happens to have a smooth flat walk, running walk & rocking chair canter....and has enough of a flashy look for my taste. Only shame is he's only raised 2 babies. A filly & now a colt are the only 2 out of him. Shame he don't have more babies on the ground by now....I know what you're saying here. I breed for gait

  • @SurprizedDaily My only point was that it is a mistake to assume that because a horse is flat shod that he cannot be under the influence of a soring agent or even be pressure shod. I wish that there were more breeders out there looking for the same traits as you stated, we would have a better breed IMO. Good luck getting some more babies out of your stallion, he sounds nice.

  • @SurprizedDaily Appreciate the kind words & I totally agree with you. Wish there were more out here looking for nothing but that natural gait. I have nobody here to help me make a video or I'd have some posted of him on my channel. I only have a colt on it that was out of him born April 2011. One day soon I hope to have some video of my stallion posted on the channel.

  • I don´t understand, do people think it´s beautyful when the horses are padded?! What is the purpose? They can't move!! It just looks wrong....! Those who let their horse join this kind of shows are sick, and should be shot.

  • Isn't it sad how those who are in the thick of it will hear first-hand evidence and STILL won't admit there's a problem? I truly believe that until we remove pads, bands, chains, and the like from the show ring, then these horses will continue to be abused due to ignorance and self-righteousness. We are dealing with a society that is ingrained and immune to abuse. It's high time their access to abuse is shut down.

  • @katphoti see again you are funny .. it isnt the pads , the chains , or the bands .. its the 2% of stupid cruel trainers .. just as pit bulls get a bad name .. it isnt the dog , but the stupid handlers that train them to fight .

  • @wrxhenry I never said that pads, chains and bands hurt the horses. I don't understand why people assume that when we ask for those to be banned, then we think those are what hurt the horses. Although the Auburn Study clearly states that pads create extreme types of thrush, and that the angles the hooves are cut at lead to arthritis and laminitis. But of course the industry ignores that part.

  • @katphoti i have seen horses in fields with NO shoes on that have severe thrush Oh and they arent even TWH's ...And well when you get on here and preach 9 out of 10 people think that is what soring is = pads n chains . And well my old timer was padded most of his life and is sound . More than i can say for most race or jumping horses.

  • @wrxhenry Yes, please, point the finger at someone else to make yourself look better. It's all you BL supporters can do to try to justify what you do. What does it matter--the fact is still that process used to apply pads cause thrush, arthritis and laminitis. And of course your horses still work for you--that doesn't mean they're sound. I have seen plenty of arthritic and lamanitic horses being ridden.

  • @katphoti God you really are just DUMB arent you .. my horses that are padded have never had any type of problem - never had thrush , never had arthritis or laminitis , and yes they are sound , YOU can have any vet come out , they will tell you the same . Sorry , But me and my horses do share a bond, they arent just SHOW horses they are like my own family . Thats the way they are treated also . A blue ribbon doesnt mean jack to me, and i have never and will never mistreat my horses to get one .

  • @wrxhenry If we get rid of the pads, bands, and chains, then the pressure shoeing side of soring will be easier to detect. It will also eliminate the need for trainers to sore their horses to get the crouch and reach the judges continue to reward. The Big Lick is ugly, plain and simple, and a poor representation of what our breed truly is. If you truly think that it's only 2% who are soring, then fine. But even 2% is TOO MANY.

  • @katphoti and less than 2% is a great leap in what we as an organization are doing to prevent it ... But only people like you wouldnt see that .. and my horses crouch and reach and well they are sound , and amazing . Granted i choose my horses for their natural talent cause you cant take a horse that has none and expect it to be great . Its all in the breeding . And it is less than 2% .. And its AMAZING to watch a PADDED horse at its finest , and if you dont agree then fine .

  • @wrxhenry The less than 2% argument can't be used anymore after over 400 tickets were issued at the 2009 Celebration, the most that show has ever seen--that's 5% at that show that were found sore--how many more weren't detected? But arguing with you won't get anyone anywhere. May you someday see the light and may you focus on loving your horse for what he is rather than the money he makes for you.

  • @katphoti so maybe some day you will see the light that not everyone is the same .. but wait you think you are god and have the right to judge others that you do not know .

  • @katphoti only 5% of twh's are even shown ... again you are stupid , and out of those 400 tickets what were the violations ? how many were padded or flat ? And make me money .. AGAIN you are DUMB .. i have a small farm , nothing big , and once i get a horse he/she dies here ... they never get sold , unless its a trail horse that i get at the local auction to keep it from ending up as dog food ..

  • @katphoti oh just an fyi only 58 horses all yr last yr as of dec 2009 where found to have foreign substances by usda ...

  • for more information goto the united states humane society web site. There is a video called the cruelest horse show on earth

  • This is so a case for PETA.

  • It is obviously true...this happens a lot. I don't see why you leave comments that seem to justify this practice.

  • happens a lot .. LMAO .. like yeah 20 years ago .. not now .. sorry for you

  • @wrxhenry

OMG yes it still happens saw it first hand last summer

  • @konczak182 yes there are still padded horses, and yes we still do use chains-no more than 6ozs surely if YOU saw someone applying something other than grease for the chains. YOU would have taken a picture or video right so you could turn them in? I know i would have. I love my padded horses and well i look down on the less than 2% that still use cruel training methods

  • @konczak182 sad part is .. its the Flatshod horses that are suffering .. but yet i see NOONE standing up for them . Everyone is worried about the padded horse when in fact it isnt them getting turned away by usda .. it is the Flatshod .

  • @konczak182 You bet it does--I watched the majority of the horses at a show in NV be sored in Oct 2009.

  • HOW can people see this as anything but total cruelty? How about they use the chemicals on the feet of the owners, the trainers, and the spectators, and sore them! What kind of Barbarians are they?

Seeing how those horses are forced to move makes me want to throw up.

  • I cried watching this. This is absolutely disgusting...how can you not love these beautfiul animals?!?!

  • This is disgusting! It must stop! When will they realize THIS IS ABUSE!? - When the trainers stop gettting rewarded for it.
