And DAMN! We have been dealing with you Asians for long enough that you should know how to say the letter "R". Now practice: " Ren Rented a Regal Residence to Rodger."
wow... that's sad. the robots can work together, but when separated into pairs, they start working alone again. This particular project is a long way away.
this thing is way too fuckin slow. noone will ever be interested in using these things on a large scale for any purpose besides passing the time of some bored hobbyists. modular robot technology could be very useful if they could self assemble and combine their individual efficiency(more speed wen moving, more power to perform work).
Oh man, please grow some imagination. Do you think the first radio ever built had stereo? No, it just demonstrated how sound could be transmitted using electromagnetism. Likewise, this is a demonstration of holistic robots, it works and can be used for more research. And if you think it is too slow for practical use, I disagree also: e.g. for use in space, it is possibly already too fast.
dude my imaginations in full bloom. don't get me wrong, i'm all for hobbyists having fun and trying new things with robots, but alot of the designs for modular robots are so inefficient there's no point in continuing research on them. think about it. how many motors and how much excess work does it perform to move x distance at y speed. probably ALOT more than is really needed.
For home use, where specialized commodities can be mass produced, I agree.. But for remote exploration I think these hold a great promise: their versatility allows remote controllers to send commands to rebuild the robot itself for the upcoming tasks. Look at these robots, then look at the Canada-arm on the ISS, and ponder on the possibilities. (also I think these would always be part of a larger "host sytem"). They would be sub-optimal at almost every task, but they should get most tasks done.
yeah maybe i've just been watching too much transformers.
to be honest though, when it comes to cut n dry exploration of other planets, i doubt these things will have much to do. their too small and too slow to gather significant data in a reasonable amount of time. there's got to be some PERFECT use for these robots to take up some day, but right now it's still a little obscure
Could you imagine if these blocks were shrunk to a microscopic level, they'll look like liquid similar to T-1000 from "Terminator 2: Judgment Day". a rescue workers brings out a container that looks like its filled with water and pours it onto the rubble. the fluid strategically slips in between the cracks as though it was alive looking for survivors. it comes to a inclined area & turns into a cat to climb it. or turns into a snake to slide down a pole. we're all gonna die!!!
if they could do all that there's quite a possibility that the can be programmed to saw a dipshit like yourself into bits and nail your shit to the ceiling!))
