12-16-2011. Ain't it great? Jeff is 48. Happy Birthday, Jeff. I just want you to know that I saw you in February 1996 at the now closed Greenwood Civic Center (SC). You and Collin Raye opened up for Pam Tillis. Remember?
"anyone have like a list of people who have sung this song. i listened to a version of the radio earlier and it was like an old folk country verison. in some parts he talked the lyrics instead of sang but he still sounded good. its driving he mad.cant find it" it was like a hymn
Does anyone know if Jeff Carson was the first to sing this song? I have heard it done by a number of different artist. I love this song it was done as a tribute to Mr. Bill Keightley, University of Kentucky long time equipment manager at his funeral in 2008. Great Song!
@bengalsfan97 MercyMe was the first to record it. Then Amy Grant, Jeff Carson and Kathryn Scott in 2003, Wynonna Judd in 2005 and then Emerson Drive in 2007

@bengalsfan97 Bart Millard of MercyMe wrote it when his dad died. They demoed the song around and Amy Grant heard it. She bought the rights to it for one of her albums but it was delayed. Amy loaned it back to MercyMe and they recorded it in 2001. It became a blockbuster, huge, monster hit on Christian radio. As often happens with big Christian hits (like Butterfly Kisses) it was immediately covered by country music. Jeff Carson did it, then Wynonna.
I love Mercy Me's ... but I prefer this version over theirs. I know...thumbs down on me. But it's just my personal preference. Doesn't mean everyone has to feel the same way!!!!!!!

I remember seeing this guy back in the 90's. He was at the KRST radio station, promoting his 'Yeah Buddy' single. :) I still like that song.
