Well i own dominator and i can say that this bike i good for gravel or slow ride (60-80km/h) on tarmac, but swamps, sands and water makes problem, because on slow tracks air cooled engine heats up and... well i had to buy new camshaft, valve rockers, valve coils, valve chain and to replace everything...
then for a while it was ok, but now after all that- it pisses me off once again because one of 4 valve is stuck- no compression- no engine start!!! I have to repair it once again...and that costs freakin a lot.
However about that 170km/h i really doubt, but motorcycle itself has potential to reach that. However when i reached 150km/h and felt quite unstable- so i decided not to risk to accelerate more... besides at 130-140km/h or at greater speeds the engine vibration becomes very unpleasant, so highways are not for dominator. Now i'm raising money for something lighter in weight and water cooled engine like honda XR 650R or L, Yamaha WR 450/425 f , KTM lc4 640; exc 525 or else...
170 downhill...Idont know why this bike is called dominator...i owned one...It should be called dominated by all others of this category (XT, KLX 650, BMW DAKAR, the amazing super tenere. look for the aprilia trail 2007 grate all around bike, and the LC4 adventure..( which i bought)
Cool video, the NX 650 for sure the coolest 650 1 cilinder ever build. I squeezed 160 KM/H out of it standard. With another pipe probably another 10 KM/H.
Nice Work! Have also a honda Dominator! it's a gerat bike!
