  • CRIKEY?!!!! Bill, you are incredible. I fail sooo badly at drumming. I wish I had just a smattering of the talent you possess. Keep em coming my friend!

  • You're the best !!!!

I've been playing for over 40 years, and could never develop the power that you have. You are so skilled in the way you project your skills. (On what looks like my old (SLINGERLAND set.) Keep the videos coming. I love to hear a real professional at work.

  • By the way, beautiful snare drum.Is that a Ludwig Black Magic Stainless??

  • Wow! Incredible playing my man! Inspires me to know that with tons of work and perserverence, the chops and speed are attainable...

Looking forward to future vids from you!!

  • Come on people--another phony poser with no technique of his own!!

Buddy hated copy cats and so do I---sorry

  • @ralfodrum

I am no phoney poser this is my "NATURAL WAY OF PLAYING" my drums are set up for playing rock and roll not jazz, if you notice i do not have that silly little 8 inch splash

or the BR badge on the bass my toms sound like "Boom" not "Boing" so i sugest A HOLE youi think befor you comment !!

  • @BigBillLucas poor kid doesn't know what hes saying i wouldn't get too riled up theres plenty of us that love what you do and as far as the kit buddy had his cymbals all flat with no tilt and your drums sounds wayyy different and the traditional grip and posture.

  • well kiddies yes do what is comfortable but this is in a way the right way or correct way to position oneself. y

  • @tombrillou'll notice predominately all the old drummers sat this way and had veery similar kits but all played with there own style however subtle it may have been.

  • You're ABSOLUTELY right on with "technique is only half the story" - - but unfortunately these guys don't know how to listen and can't fathom musicality. ...I watched some of your playing with your rock group and your drive behind the band is GREAT ! I like the way you're thinking....BEST OF LUCK WITH EVERYTHING.

  • BEAUTIFUL BILL ! ! ! ! >>>>remember there was only ONE Buddy Rich >>>and like wise, there is only ONE Bill Lucas <<<<<you're doin' GREAT !

  • @PJMPercussion

Very nice fair comment thanks man

just for the record i`m not desperatly trying to copy Buddy, this is my natual way of drumming, however what i have taken from the man is his power and drive which is sadly lacking in ALL the BR wannabes out there, when will they learn that technique is only half the story to Buddy Rich

  • Check it!!!

  • Excellent! Well done!

  • Very good Brother, I hope you r still doing it,,,, I have been for 40 Yrs

  • @RatPakForEvr

yep i`ve been doing it for 35 years now "and i still can`t get it right"

  • @RatPakForEvr me too, Bill is great!

  • Great chops!

  • i have watched this a thousand times and i am still amazed at the skill of the bloke

  • can you tell me what for kind cymbals you use??

  • love it!

  • Great. Just great!

  • very impressive work!!!

  • Bill - you are not just playing in the BR style, you are channeling Buddy! Terrific.

  • Bill is just wicked. Amazing drumming.

  • WOW! That's the good stuff alright! Very close to Buddy's playing...and I never say that about drummers today. Seems like a lot of your speed is coming from the forearms as well as wrists and fingers. I always try to convert as much as I can into my fingers. I would appreciate someone of your caliber critiquing my playing. I have a few clips on here. If you have time let me know what you think. Keep in mind I'm not a professional, just another Buddy Rich fanatic. Thanks.

  • @Drumminman4U Rock music should be banned in high schools and jazz band should be taught and instilled. This stuff is on the verge of dying out completely.

  • @Antiks72 What should be banned is all that Hip/hop technopop shit they call music.

  • @Drumguy1988 LOL YES.

  • @groalerable REALLY. And people who like fake computer Generated music and who idolize artists like Lady Gaga, Little Wayne, Jay-Z, Chris Brown, Usher etc. aren't retarded????

  • @groalerable You think Buddy Rich was a Gimmick. WOW! I'd be interested in finding out who you consider not to be a gimmick.

  • Comment removed

  • @groalerable Yes they're all good drummers, They're Great Drummers. But what's your point how is Buddy Rich a Gimmick.

  • Comment removed

  • @groalerable Well you're entitled to your own opinion but I disagree with you 100%. Buddy and his band where never boring and I'm sure a lot of people will agree.

  • @groalerab Hmmm, One has to have listened to virtually hours upon hours of Buddys' playing in order to form such a definitive remark, but I believe that most who make such statements, indeed have NOT listened enough but have instead merely heard from others or have not themselves really paid attention. Consider, if you will, the vast amount of present day drummers (as well as past jazz greats) who were influenced by this mans playing and musicality. Dig into the subject a little more.

  • @PJMPercussion

nah i'd rather not listen to paradiddles and single strokes for an entire solo

  • Excellent!

  • Wow. Your fast. I don't quite understand Moeller though. I'm not very good a t it.

  • fukin brilliant

  • Amazing technique. I need to practice my rudiments a little more I guess. Thanks for the motivation.

  • Very nice. Great chops.

  • beautiful is all i can say

  • 5 Stars Bill!

    Seth Davis

  • Great technique!!!
