  • So where the fucking words?...

Might as well be "copy o music year 1 cords"

  • I'm sorry, what do The Corrs have to do with this?

  • @ alpykog... It's a shame that people can almost anything out of context. My comment was in reference to this song and the memories it brings to my mind. I also made a comment that I am thankful for ALL our troops. Please understand that ALL OUR TROOPS did not visit your country because that was their vacation choice. A politician ordered them to visit your country. I'm sure that if you were to ask any of them, they would tell you that they would rather spend time with their famlies not yours.

  • @MRnuge Soldiers have a choice to refuse orders, and when they commit crimes (such as the illegal invasion of a country). When they don't take that option then they are liable. "Just following orders" is not a defense.

  • GarryOwen!!@

  • whats guitar tab for this epic tune?

  • @YorkGod1 Google it.

  • A lovely piece of music played by a band who really gave pop music an alternative edge with their Celtic-inspired sound. It worked well :-) I first heard this out of my best friend's car stereo system, so beautiful but at the same time almost brought tears to my eyes.

  • These ladies are too good looking. If that is possible.

  • Beautiful.

  • where can i find the one with words? i would love to hear it...

send me the link please... thanks... ❤❤❤

The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain

    Could not bring that proud soul under;

The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again,

    For he tore its chords asunder;

And said "No chains shall sully thee,

Thou soul of love and brav'ry!

Thy songs were made for the pure and free

They shall never sound in slavery!

  • Originally, this song referred to the 1798 rising of the United Irishmen against British occupation, although the lyrics are perhaps deliberately obtuse, which has led to it being borrowed for many other conflicts.

  • this is not the best song off of forgiven not forgotten I feel It was chucked in at the last moment and not really given eny reason for being there, Also This is a tribute to the corrs and i dont see anything about them in comments people grow up stop fighting get over your petty little computer arguments it get's boring after a while.

  • @Labsnark i fail to see how that's chauvinistic, not once does it mention supremacy of one group than another, nor the idea of men being superior to women, nor fanatical or aggressive patriotism. first learn to spell, chauvinistic is spelled with an I not an A, second look up the meaning of a word before throwing it around at random

  • Lovely tune from such a talented family.

  • she looks as fine as she plays, really a pleasure to hear and see her play!

  • This song meant a lot for Irish people, using the Corrs version for a Sharon tribute really means underestimating it.

  • This tune (and the lyrics that go with it) is a wondorful tribute to ANYONE who fights for a cause they truly believe in. I truly feel sorry for those who have no causes so important to them.

P.S. It may seem to be a paradox, but peace is one such cause. Just do not use viiolance..

  • This song has great memories for me - it was something my dad used to sing when I was a kid. :D

  • Misleading

  • Indimenticabile!!!

  • So this one close minded hag has rights to voice her feeble mind on here and I don't. I am insulted again by her and I can't reply?

  • @1967mustanggta Fuck off cuntface

  • @bofts You are either a little pussy boy or a lesbian. Poor thing.

  • @1967mustanggta Keep trying little one

  • @1967mustanggta oh, so now you hate homosexuals too? Shut the fuck up and get out you piece of shit. How DARE your shitty sportsball team defile this ancient masterpiece with your crude and uneven lyrics. Go to hell.

  • @1967mustanggta

your such a jock, just shut up and enjoy the music

  • @suki3275 My point EXACTLY! And in the course of history whether it be the Toys doing Bach or John Brown's Body being rewritten or our own national anthem - it has always been about taking music and using it for your purpose. "ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!" Why would anyone complain that I made the effort to share with kids a historic song in a way they could relate that someday they may grow up and hear it and say "Hey I know that song!"

  • @1967mustanggta

ok, i can respect that. it just drives me insane when people argue about something completely off topic to the video

  • This is a very old traditional song. I love this song. I love it when i first heard it in the Movie Black Hawk Down. Great movie which based on an actual event. Thanks for uploading. By the way the Black Hawk Down minstrel boy is by Joe Strummer and Mescaleros.

  • I told my lovely bride just today, that I remember this song from when I was a boy. My grandfather used to hum the tune all the time. It always put a sad respect kind of feeling in my heart. I hadn't heard the words until recently. Now I understand. It is a beautiful song, both instrumentally & vocally. Still brings a tear to my eye. I thank God for all our troops every day, & pray for their safety. SEMPER FI

  • @MRnuge - Semper Fi!

  • @MRnuge It was THE song of The Irish Brigade (28th MA 63rd NY 69th NY 88th NY 116 Pa ) during the Civil War. Great song. Carry on. Garryowen..

  • @pvtvice Yeah and they needed it at Fredericksburg.

  • @Zardoz215 And sang it at Gettysburg.

  • @MRnuge .....Im Iraqi...I dont..even if you don't tell your bride the truth I hope you will your kids...theres time yet...this song was written about brave Irishmen who resisted occupation...not lowlife invaders

  • @MRnuge This is not a song about or for American imperialism today. It's a song for people are fighting tyranny, not causing it. Sorry.

  • They're physically sumptuous, but I don't like the liberties they've taken with this old hymn. The song derives its power from its hardy simplicity. Cut out the stupid grace notes and effete embellishments.

  • who is this music by?

  • yo mama. read the title.

  • Just to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the 14th Ind. Lions and their families who may visit this site.

  • not the Tribute , one was looking for , ,for this great Traditional Song

  • Beautiful instrumental song, great!

  • Very Very nice indeed! Great tribute! Well done and thanks for sharing!

  • Makes you think she is though!

  • You're actually proud to provide such a trashy chauvanistic lyric to such an exquisite tune? If someone were to go to the Louvre and paint a Ferarri to the background of the Mona Lisa, they would be called a vandal.

Those who put trashy lyrics on top of music that other people have written are no different.

  • @Labsnark

Meaning of lyrics does vary throughout the generations; when peace-evoking listeners and readers cannot value original lyrics, then the conscientious lyricist may rewrite the lyrics toward improved understanding.

  • @SeraphimGold

The lyric that I was directly referring to didn't do that, though - it was just an insult to the original music.

As for rewriting original lyrics, that requires great talent and great sensitivity. All too often it's instead done by individuals with little ability, and ignorant enough to mistake what they have done for competence.

  • Peace-evoking listeners have the right to alter the works of other artists because they do not or cannot value the original work? Wow, sounds pretty revisionist to me. You're in good company though, just about every fascist in memory has done the same to stuff they don't agree with too. If you are unable to accept a work because you cannot appreciate it through your narrow contemporary values, how about choosing to not listen to/read it? Freedom of choice, what a wonderful thing.

  • @Labsnark "If someone were to go to the Louvre and paint a Ferarri to the background of the Mona Lisa, they would be called a vandal. "

    No they wouldn't.

A Ferarri is a wonderful piece of engineering and a joy to behold, while anyone who has seen the Mona Lisa will soon tell you how disappointed they are.

  • @oarfrost. I've spent many happy hours working with particle accelerators, so forgive me if I find Ferarris to be just a refined form of very derivative and dull technology that's long past its sell-by date.

Regardless, even if a Ferarri is a wonderful piece of engineering, a painting of a Ferarri is not. Painting a Ferarri on the Mona Lisa would be, in any legal or moral sense, vandalism - it's crass and pointless to argue otherwise.

  • @Labsnark A "trashy chauvanistic lyric" only to those with no soul.

  • Comment removed

  • @bobwaters Sorry, but what's that supposed to mean? Did you actually READ 1967Mustanggta's posting of his lyric before posting this? Whether or not I have a soul doesn't alter the fact he posted a travesty of verse with crashing rhymes and trite sentiment. Bolting an appalling lyric on top of a beautiful melody doesn't improve the quality of either, any more than putting slugs in hollandaise sauce makes them good eating

  • @Labsnark Perhaps in these post-modern times some less educated artists would call him "brilliant." lol

  • @1967mustanggta Fuck off

  • @bofts Are you a cat waving pussy? So sorry. I wish somebody would stomp on your throat with this song playing. I'd give it a thumbs up. So dramatic.

  • Did something unfortunate befall the pretty girl?

  • The right man to sing the lyrics would make this a perfect rendition. Well played.

  • Lacks the words realy

  • In its original Form "The Moreen" it had no words

  • Very,fantastic!!!

  • Great version!!

  • Alive and well! She recorded two tracks in 2008 with operatic singer Bryn Terfyl. It was recently announced by Xpose, RTE television, in an interview with Sharon, that she will be releasing her own solo album, on which she has written all of the tracks and will sing and play violin. The finishing touches are being added though no date has been set for the release of the album. (credit: Wiki)
