Actually, the original protestants supported the banning of all the saint's banners, including Saint Andrew's cross. Anglicanism doesn't reflect on the entire English population either; there's Methodists, Lutherans, Presybyterians, Baptists, ect.

What most dumb fucks can't get is that the UK would exist regardless of the home nations gaining back their independence or not, if you are born and bred in that nation, what ever one of the four it is, that is what you are, Britain is not a country and it never was, it's a 1707 political construct and current term of citizenship, the UK is a monarchy union and a different constitution from the political union of Great Britain, all countries were still sovereign constituent Kingdoms/Nations.

Majority of Scots are very much for the Union especially in the North-East, it's a part of our cultural heritage and the Union Jack means as much to Scots as it does to English. Insofar as the old Anglo-Scottish rivalry goes it's really just a bit of fun. Nobody on the British Isles sees the English as an oppressive force of evil lol.
