@ esh325 they didnt use the drums in the 2nd world war. The original used the drums because it was designed to be a "trench broom" at the end of WW1. Also the original versions were top cockers while the ww2 version were side cocking.

The mg42 and sturmgewehr were ahead of thier time. I also think the mp40 was better than the thompson because the tompson shoots too fast for a 20 round magazine. The mp40 was also more controlable under on full auto. I have alway thought the luger was very sexy.

My neighbors grandfather was in the 101st, he even admitted the MP-40 was better - his whole squad during Normandy agreed. There was reports of U.S. G.I. who used to drop there weapons and use the MP-40. Hell and if you believe shit you see on TV (most likely you do) Band Of Brothers shows that exact same thing. MP-40 will always be better just face it

well the stg/mp44 dor sure was off ww2 a member of my clan was to young but already had this gun with him!

there have always been struggles between the army comannders technicians and hitler so he didnt allow to work on mp's that dont use the old tiny ammo and in this case they used different names just to make him allow it to produce..

aswell as there have been much more different and technically better weapons trought all the war years without this problems with adolf

STG 44 OR MP44 is what it is. Its also sometimes known as the MP43.

Kalashnikov who designed the AK-47 said he incorporated features of the STG-44/Mp44 and the M1 Garand, its either the Garand or the SVT 40, can't remember which.
