  • @birdsrule66 omg! I'm so sorry to hear that! That must be horrible!!!

  • aww you are so lucky! I lost my Scarlet 2 weeks ago due to a heart attack :(

  • I wish I can have one, I just to have the male/female blue golden, but some body took them from my yard two years ago, if you have baby's later just let my know please , the

  • soo cute, she/her is beautiful

  • how cute

  • u shouldn't have one as a pet. they're endangered

  • @loverofmythology That's a ridiculous statement. Endangered species are the ones that people SHOULD be educated on and be able to breed and care for. The more birds being bred, the better. Obviously macaws are not suitable for everyone, and only experienced parrot carers should attempt to own a macaw, but to say no one should have them because they are endangered is an extremely uneducated statement.

  • @yorkheardt dude, if it's endangered, its a LAW not to have one as a pet. ur the uneducated one -.-

  • @loverofmythology Haha, is that so? Then how is it possible that hundreds of responsible owners LEGALLY own and breed macaws in several countries? Even the RAREST of Macaws - the Hyacinth. Honestly, you're digging a deeper hole for yourself.

Besides which, even if your statement was true, and it was illegal, that wouldn't exactly be in the best interest of the species, now would it? Think about it.

  • @yorkheardt you have got to be the biggest d-bag on the internet. u go to all this trouble to call sum1 out, when they just say their OPINION

  • @loverofmythology Well guess what? I've got an opinion of my own, and I'm sorry to say yours was a miss-informed one. I'm giving you my opinion, which is no more than what you've done. I can tell you know I've got a point by your reaction.

Your resorting to petty name-calling only strengthens my end of the argument, and makes you look silly. Don't belittle yourself like that. I'm offering you an opportunity to learn. I guess most people aren't interested in the truth when it doesn't suit them.

  • @yorkheardt wow dude, ur not even saying an opinion, ur trying to force sumthing on sum1. and i know that ppl can own them legally, WITH A PERMIT. but they didn;t say they had a permit, now did they?

  • @loverofmythology Haha, you're making less and less sense, and I'm NOT trying to 'force' an opinion on you, I'm trying to show you that your 'opinion' that you stated as fact, is legitimately incorrect. Take it or leave it, it's no skin off my nose. No they didn't say they had a permit...they didn't say that they DIDN'T have a permit either...I fail to see what that proves.

I'm not talking about this individual person owning a Macaw, and neither were you in your original comment.

  • @yorkheardt yah... so wut else would i be referring to in my first statement? a cat? -.- and how did my last msg make less sense? if u don't think it made sense, u obviously can't read -.- and btw, i'm done talking to u after this msg, cuz when i read all that u wrote, i couldn't stop laughing. ur now blocked.

  • @loverofmythology oh no! Someone I didn't like in the first place has blocked me! XD jesus, how old are you? Haha, yeah obviously understanding basic concepts is beyond the perametres of your feeble mind...I'm sure you laughed, that's what people tend to do when they don't understand something. My god your comments are almost too good to be true, I almost don't even need to say anything for you to look like a dick.

Let me guess, your an American, and you say 'like' and 'OMG every five seconds?

  • @yorkheardt and yet u keep going. ur obviously hungry for attention. and a troll. and ur making urself look incredibly bitchy -.- and u dont like sum1 just cuz they're from another country... how ignorant is that?

  • @loverofmythology I keep going...as do you. The re-establishment of endangered species is a subject I am passionate about, so I will argue my point. I don't particularly care if people think I'm 'bitchy'...nothing was ever gained by keeping quiet or just being 'a nice guy'. I never said I didn't like you for being from another country, but I know what the country is like. Many of you seem to believe whatever you're told by higher authorities...it's scary.

  • @yorkheardt o yah, u know us so well -.- and btw, ur not just trying to prove a point, ur also trying to make sum1 else look stupid in the process -.- which btw, is not working xD i still stand by wut i said, ur doing this for attention.

  • @loverofmythology lol hun, I'm not trying to make you look stupid. You're doin that all by yourself...

  • @yorkheardt o yah sure, and u dont look stupid by trolling -.-

  • @yorkheardt Bro umad, just hushhush.

  • @loverofmythology BTW, I think if you re-read your comments, you'll notice a much bitchier tone in yours than in mine. It's obviously something that concerns you.

  • @yorkheardt "No they didn't say they had a permit...they didn't say that they DIDN'T have a permit either" - WIN!

  • @loverofmythology Hello, just to say here, I know this is clearly an old argument, but you can have Hyacinths and Scarletts and other endangered Parrots, but they are CITES 1 listed and you just need to have the paperwork for them and make sure the breeding is kept strict (unless you're not selling in which case I think you can do pretty much what you want if you wanted to cross breed them for a hybrid) my opinion though is that maybe people should have the endangered ones as pets? maybe? dunno.

  • @loverofmythology ....as you can see , I'm kinda on the fence about people owning endangered species. i can see pros and cons for both. but I'll say this, anyone who has the space to keep a Hyacinth must live in a massive house or have an aviary! O_O big bird! anyway back to the point, if you look up CITES appendix, you'll see all the macaw species as well as many other endangered animals and the requirements to keep them as "pets".

  • @calleymacleod ah! yah, ik that some places some specific animals are allowed to be owned with a permit, but i didn't know that it would mostly be ok if you didn't breed them for money, which makes sense. but i thought that owning a scarlet was illegal all together, so idk that u could get one if u had paper work. and i will look that up ty ^^

  • @loverofmythology if you're thinking of getting one, i don't really recommend. I have a greenwing sat on me here ripping the alt key off my keyboard repeatedly, but I can't leave him on his own coz he screams the place down! even the most tollerant person will be severely tested by the damands of most Macaws!!! seriously, if anyone here is looking into getting one, no amount of reading will prepare you for it! feel free to PM me if you want more details :) a permit is one thing, sanity though?!

  • @calleymacleod holy crap XD i thought that was just cockatoos and lorries! and he needs to learn what does not belong to him -.- i had to teach one of my cockatiels that, he used to grab pencils and the remotes, and chew off the rubbery bits on both x.x and he used to chew the table.... and the ceiling... and the wall... >.> he knows that no means now, cuz when i say it to him he looks at me and runs away from w/e he was doing xD

  • @loverofmythology George knows what No means,...he just ignores it completely though XD...nah he can be a really sweet boy, loves cuddles and the like but he can also be such a handfull! i try to let people know how much trouble they can be coz people see these vids and go "aww cute, i want one" without really knowing what they're getting into. too many parrots in rescues coz people can't handle the mischief! we have two rescue tiels here too, still getting used to us. :)

  • AWW A BABY SCARLET!

  • i bet it hurts a lot when it bites

  • HE SOOO CUTE :D

  • they didnt grow yet

they will grow in few weeks it was the same with my macaw

  • I'm not a bird expert or anything but... what's wrong with his back feathers, did they not grow in?

  • Comment removed

  • He's only a baby.

  • i have lots of baby birds thats normal.... the back and chest feathers are like the last in appearing

its like.... head-wings-tail- the rest xD

  • its just a chick, thats why some feathers didnt grow in yet. :)

  • LOL they are like only 10 000-20 000 baht or something in Thailand haha :D I can buy hords... like 100 and make armies with them :D

  • do you know were i can get a baby one like that for less than a 1000 dollars. if you do tell me

  • impossible

  • i could tell you if that were a practicable price...

  • my blue and gold that im about to go and buy is only going to be 500 dollars and he comes with a HUGE cage (for night time of course!) because im getting one of last summers birds and they need to make room for this summer =D

  • I got my baby B&G for 1000 and that was from a breeder in FL. Ive seen Hyacinth's for 20,000 to 50,000.

  • hyncanth should b $8000, scarlets should b $1100 b@g should b $900-$1000

  • hy's are worth 70grand in Oz..!!

  • Here in Oz they're likely to be illegal due to quarantine and customs, thats why.

    But I'd still want one!

  • You can get them in Oz becuase they were imported before the import ban yonks ago. Check the web and you'll find a number of breeders ;)

  • Macaws are very difficult to look after and they should be in the wild in their own flocks. They should be priced a minium $10 000 so that people treat them properly.

  • Mines died recently :(:( I don't know from what.. he was so lively the day before, I woke up the following morning and he was just... there... not as lively as yesterday, he died a few hours after :( i know he's just a bird but i miss him so much already is there any one out there who has a scarlet that they're willing to let me have? i need another.

  • my ringneck did the same.

    he died in my arms.

  • the store near me, this kind of macaw is 3200! and the white one that might be a cocatoo is 3000 and a blue n gold is also 3000 and i heard hyacinths are 10000

  • begging you lol

  • DizShaWTYcrUNK: 10,000 for a Hyacinth is a very good price. I see them go for 13,000-15,000 around here. The B&G's are around $1100 here.

  • Macaws are such wonderful pets when you know how to take care of them. They are extremely friendly if you teach them so when they are young. I have 4 at home (Honduras, by the way) that were all bought around the age of 4 months. Now they have multiplied to around 11.

All of them friendly and none aggressive in any way (unless really provoked). 1st timers are not recommended to have them

  • adopting isn't for everyone.

  • It's illegal to import wild birds. I think adopting is a much better choice because so many jerkoffs get baby birds they thing are cute, then the birds get older and get issues people don't know how to deal with and the birds get given away. thats why rescue is much better when it comes to parrots, especially large ones.

Gorgeous baby Macaw though. He's a doll

  • Very adorable! Do Macaws make good pets in your own honest opinion?

  • They are VERY Loud, Scream a lot!

We have a Military Macaw, he's actually one of the Least Noisy birds I've seen, but STILL I can hear him a block away when he's outside screaming... Birds Flock, so they want to be With you all the time, they want to Eat when YOU eat, etc. IMO they definitely aren't for everyone. If you're up to it though, they're pretty cool.

  • I thought you could only get them when they are 16 weeks old

  • Yeah its about 2 months old when i got it.

Also because I bought it from a friend who was a breeder in macaws.

  • cute baby. people don't understand you cannot have these as 1st pet birds.

  • If you've even seen macaws in the wild, you'd understand and appreciate that that's where they should be. Instead of keeping them as pets, if you love these creatures so much, you should help fight for their survival in the wild, as they are very endangered.

  • I agree. It's really sad, I love these animals and what you say is very true. I hate it that there are people who buy these birds as first pets....that should be illegal.

  • I see no problem in captive breds, as many are. It should be illegal (maybe it is?) to take them from the wild. They are such gorgeous and lovable birds.

  • Oh, I'm sorry. I agree. I KNOW Taking them from the wild IS illegal. I meant it should be illegal to allow people with no experience in the care of macaws or any other bird to go and buy one. Nobody cares if you have no experience, the money is what matters if you have the money, you'll have a macaw. Even if your ignorance kills it.

Do you see what I mean now?

  • I have a son that is a green wing macaw. He is around 7 now (he was 3 when I got him). I was a first time bird owner, but seriously educated myself before I brought him home. Thank God I did too! The ppl I bought him from lied lied lied about him. He was so abused he didn't even know he could come out of his cage. 5 mos later he came out of there and has not been locked up since. He bit me SEVERAL times during our bonding process. We are inseperable now. He goes everywhere with me, but he is....

  • very aggressive towards anyone else, and WILL bite. We are working on that and I hope I can get him to overcome this fear of others since he will out live me and I don't want him to be put down. I just wish the ppl I got him from were honest with me. They told me he would say "Big red chicken". I said those 3 words to him 1 time when I first got him and NEVER again! He started trembling so bad and ran to the top of his cage & hung upside down like that for 2 days! He didn't know any words, but..

  • @leasa1690 First of all NEVER NEVER NEVER have a parrot "put down," FUKIN STUPID. All parrots bite and should not be PUT TO DEATH because of it. There is also NO guarantee that ANY parrot will talk. I doubt that you even still this poor parrot. MORON

  • @malcolmsnake Wow. way to be a troll. The commenter obviously cares for their parrot and was worried someone ELSE would put the parrot down when it out-lived them! What is it with all the disrespect? This is the problem with youtube. People can just say whatever they want without fear of reprisal. You know damn well you wouldn't talk to someone like that to their face so don't do it on here. That is called "trolling".

  • @leasa1690 hi there, how did you get on with your macaw? (posted 2 years ago) I have a hand reared Greenwing who is very bonded to me and aggressive to most other people and was wondering if you managed to cure yours of that. We've tred to socialise him with people so much and things aren't really working :(

  • I have a scalet macaw too but it took my finger almost off its very mean.awsome vid

  • prolly cuz u didnt spend much time with it

  • How precious!

  • breath takingly beautfiul

    enough said

  • Wonderful Baby ! hey are such a joy .

  • i want one so bad but there are no shelter in my area and i cant afford to buy one from a breeder. that sucks. ur is so cool

  • If you can't affor one from a breeder, don't try to adopt one one from a Shelter.

    Expensive bird=expensive care
