@frerty1 No, the green one has a blue cere while the gray one has a white cere. If the cere is not blue then the budgie is female, and if its blue then its a male.

Why do they do this? I have two male budgies together, after a female died, my dad got a young male budgie. The older one keeps doing the same thing when the room is quiet.

@MissyBtrfly Don't worry, this is normal budgie-behavior. Some say, its just a sign of sympathy and friendship, but i've also often heard, that especially the males are training to 'flirt' with each other. And yes, they even 'kiss' each other. This 'kissing' indeed is feeding. I think your older budgie wants to show the younger one, how it works.

And, of course, budgies have to keep their feathers clean. But they cant reach the ones on the head. So another one has to do this.
