If I remember the story right, the members of the Timex Social Club had a huge falling out. Some of the members left that group and formed Club Nouveau. Jealousy was directed at the remaining members of Timex Social Club. It was many years ago. I remember the two groups communicated to and against each other through their music. In doing so, both groups left behind some very memorable songs that are still being listened to and sampled to this day.
This came out about 1986, they moved on to become timex social club and done 'rumours or might be around the other way? memory's not to good nowdays and cant be bothered to go up in the loft and find these 2 tunes'
@BruvaBob "Rumours" by the Timex Social Club came out first. I thought theywere the same group, but apparently this song ("Jealousy") was kind of a spoof of "Rumours".
My impression was there was some kind of "beef" between CN and TSC. The sad thing to me is that all there songs kept revolving around a negative theme, but there songs were still hot. The young lady in the group had a very hot voice.
This is a much better mix than some of their other 12" single releases...Timex Social Club "Rumours" 12" stinks..The extended version is missing all lyrics except the chorus...
This sounds really familiar, like something my parents listened to. Especially the chorus. Was this done in the mid eighties? I was a little girl when this came out. Maybe five six or seven. That's like around 89-91. I remember the words jealousy. That's it. It sounds really familiar. How old is this?
The best part of this video is from 3:34 to 4:08 . Lies, lies...jealous. Man I danced to this tune like there was no tomorrow back then..such happy memories
@TrashMagnavox Would you believe that for a time in the 50s (I think it was only one year, because the results were disastrous), one brand of car actually offered a record-player as an option. The tone arm had to be SO heavy (to avoid skipping), that the needle wore out the records prematurely and it skipped a lot anyway...
i love that song. i have the original version on cd on the life, love & pain album on warner bros records. i also want the lp as well. btw does this record contain the lp or 7" version. if so, can you post it on your 1969 mag console?
Thanks. I'm not sure if it has the 7" version. It's on the Tommy Boy label. The side B (this side) is marked "Vicious Vocal" and is 6:35 Min. Side A has "Green Eyed Vocal" timed at 4:45, and Instrumental at 4:31. Sorry, this is the first time I heard this tune. I found it in the thousand record pile and posted it because it has a good hard beat.
oh yeah, i do have 2 twelve inchers of that group too, but the songs are lean on me and why you treat me so bad on tommy boy. i also have lean on me on a 45 too on wb records.

@BruvaBob I thought "Rumors" was kind of funny. Lines like "in her camisole, she's six feet tall"

I think you're right it came out in the late 80's. Sorry I can't be more exact, the record is long since buried in my stacks of albums.

Club Nouveau was formed immediately after the breakup of the Timex Social Club. This is almost exactly the same song as their hit "Rumors".
