wow! I'm from Malaysia and I also want to possess my own house without making any bank loan! I want to learn how exactly to build a house! a good house, suitable to live and comfortable.
@6572820IKN You've got the right attitude. I won't say it was easy to do, but my next home will go a lot better because I know a lot more now from the experience. Good luck and never give up trying.
Brilliant. TFS The "I could never do that" crowd are likely either overly concerned with what other people might think or have a compromised sense of self-esteem --notice how similar those things are? Best wishes!
@ShePreps2 I truly believe that vitually anyone could tackle a project like this. You only need to have the "can-do" and never give up spirit. I am completely over what others think. Thanks.
I really wanted to do what you did so we wouldn't have a mortgage hanging over our heads, but my husband thought it was a horrible idea. So now we have a mortgage. To me, THAT is horrible!
@Sherri119 A mortgage is not all bad if it is an affordable one. I couldn't afford the mortgage for the home that my wife wanted so we attacked it from a different angle.
wow if i knew thats all you wanted for it i would have gave you more and dragged it up to the north Ga mountains / i have been living in a 20ft 1973 open road for a year and a half now with no water tank or refrigerator or stove /oven - im living my own survival story
@ernest302 Man I wish I had known. My wife and I talked about putting an ad out but, a guy who was doing a pool for my brother-in-law inquired about it before we ever got to the ad. You win some, you lose some. My heart goes out to you because we lived in our 5th wheel for 4yr. and 9mo. while we built our home. My sister just recently bought a 5th wheel and asked us if we wanted to go camping with her family and we told her that we had done enough camping out to last us for a while.God Bless.
@TheHossUSMC You are so right. The house I built is not really mine. I pay to maintain it but just as soon as I don't pay my taxes the gov. takes it back. In effect I rent my home from the goverment. I also have to get their permission to add on to it or install a pool etc. SLAVERY- you are right on brother.
I gutted a duplex and redid the whole thing. Learned by doing and library books. I changed my whole career from that experience. I have yet to get my land. Nice vid.
This is a good idea. I had a motor-home and lived in it as built. I was amazed at how many "friends" from the city looked down on me, that is... until the bad economy hit and several of them are now evicted and jobless. I heard the term "trailer trash" many times during the time I lived in the motor-home.
I would advise against selling it. Keep in for a forced evacuation, or place it on a friends property at least 100 miles away. Kind of a second home after a Katrina type event.
@Vaultcracker2 I found out who my real friends were. Atleast you had a motor-home, that is a big step up from a camper.I was called camper trash. We thought about keeping it, but it needed a total rehab. I sold it for $100 to a young couple with 3 kids. They have a fish camp in Lake Panasoffkee(sp). The new owner is going to gut it an totally re-do it his way. I am working on a 2nd home of sorts.I will do vid on it. Thank you for the input.
I've been trying to do the same thing and planned to some what of the same, only I was going to stay there while the wife and kids stayed with her parents, I would have been further along but I had a LARGE speed bump, I have a slide show on my channel if you have free time, it's called THE PROPERTY. Glad I found your channel, Great Videos
@TheRifleman336 I will be doing some more vids on the subject. I will try to inform everyone the best I can about the mistakes, pitfalls and what I would do different. Feel free to PM me with any questions and I will do my best to help. HP
i have bin wanting to do just what you have don for ten years but im to well off were i am now i do alright but i have a mortgage over my head and just like youit ways heavily on my shoulders and it sucks to know some day i will be thrown out of the first home i ever owned i made foolish decisions with my mortgage and sooner or later i will be under water as they say so i advise any one who is thinking of doing what you did go for it before its to late
@homesteadprepper i have lived in far smaller while traveling, i have thought a lot about build a home im a commercial electrician and have friends in all trades, the only the holding me back is finding a good location with utilities close enough
@MrNukinFutz My wife designed the floor plan and we hired an architectural engineer to draw up the plans to comply with local codes (wind loads) and to insure structural integrity.
