Thanks again, Paul and Jim, so glad you liked Stumble On. My guitar teacher played on this one and also produced the video while I sang on it of course. :) Janet
Thanks so much, Al, so glad you enjoyed this one! I'll serve you some coffee before I go on my camping trip this week. Going camping in the mountains, and I'm excited! :) Janet
Hey Janet, Somehow I missed this jewel. - a wonderful work. and your voice has a completely different character, very introspective, deep waters. As always the lyrics flow in one purposeful direction. and my head is moving up and down with every word This is the blues, really well done. Karl
Thanks so much, Karl, so glad you enjoyed this one. My guitar teacher actually did the backing track for me, and I sang over it. Yeah, this song is more rock and blues oriented. Hope you're having a great 4th, my friend! :) Janet
Great song Janet such great truths and wisdom in the lyrics and you sung the song beautifully five star performance that one is going on to my favourite list .
Thanks, John, my guitar teacher actually did the production for this and he's playing the guitar. I'm singing the vocals of course. Thanks also for your kind comment on Youtube User Blues. I appreciate that. :) Janet
What a great song, and what a great voice! I love how your upper register heightens the ethereal quality of the guitar sound and, more importantly, the ethereal nature of the lyric. Masterful! Another fave.
Jimmy, you're just so kind....and I value your opinion 'coz I think you're a killer songwriter and performer! Thanks for faving this one too. I hope you have a wonderful day. :) Janet
This pretty much exemplifies the fact that no matter how great the song is,...it's who you know rather than how you do. This is just fabulous Janet. I'm dead serious. I doubt anyone could sing it with the conviction you bring to the table. And you got just enough of that southern twang when it counts. Song quality = perfect.......Vocals = perfect,.....arrangement and execution = perfect. I really respect this composition bubbette.
The song is awesome and your singing superb, I notice that your voice is recorded with a good microphone, the mix is good but I would´ve raised the voice up a bit, meanning nothing to hide, on the contrary, something to show. I wonder if I could count on you for some vocal stuff
This is awesome, Janet. The music is very professional and I love the high vocal notes that open (or lead into) the chorus. Really grabs the listener and forces them to reinvest in the song.
Some of your best singing, Janet. Really good. The entire piece makes me think of Tori Amos.
Thanks, Justin, for your very encouraging words. Interesting you should say that....my guitar teacher who helped me produce this track (he's playing guitar here) is a big Tori Amos fan...I love her too. :)
Well, I'm back. .....Janet, this song is exactly beautiful. And your vocals are right on it.....best match of your singing and song. Really nice, great, perfect,...whatever word you like. It's you.
I must have completely missed this one,...quite bluesy.....and Reba-like at the beginning. This is yet another fabulous example of your talent. And again,....I have no idea whatsoever why you are hesitant to do your own singing,...this is excellent! C'mon,....cowboy up!!
Thanks, Tom.....I'm glad you enjoyed it. Man, I wish you could tell you about the money I spent having other female singers sing my songs for demo purposes, hehe...that's how much I didn't like my own voice. But I'm realizing that like you say, only you can truly sing your own songs.
Thanks so much for your kind words, Ernest & Sarah...I really appreciate that. And thanks for the friendship invite too....your channel is just wonderful. :)
Excellent lyrics and a first-rate performance. I particularly like the semi-onomatopoeic effect of the way in which you repeat the word 'stumble' and interrupt the rhythm in the penultimate line of the chorus. It's very effective in reinforcing the idea that the world is a cruel and difficult place, especially for the weak and disadvantaged. Loved it. 5*
Thanks for your your kind words, Paddy. Yeah, I tried to hard to reinforce the word "stumble" in my hook...you're right, I want to get the idea across that the world can be a tough place....glad you could hear that. :)
Hey, thanks for the nice words, 3 dinosaurs. And thanks for the friend invite. I tried to access your channel today, but You Tube is stalling out on it for some reason.....when it settles down, I listen to some of your vids. :)
hi janet. the first time i listened to this i had not known you were the singer. your vocal on this song is absolutely first rate. really fine singing here, chuck.
Really great Janet. Cool video. I still can't figure out why you were hesitant to sing your own songs. You did a professional job on this one for sure. Other people can do these songs, but I think it's a good idea to have at least one version by the author. And you certainly have nothing to be ashamed of vocally or from any other aspect.
Thanks, Tom, for those nice words. I've heard that we don't tend to like the sound of our own voices. I'm one of those folks....first time I heard myself singing, I kind of freaked. I never thought I had a good voice.
For years, I just had stuff demoed 'coz of that. I'll put those demoes up soon, they are of other female vocalists. But some peeps told me just to go with my voice, so that's what I did. I think you're right...you can sing your own stuff with more emotion behind it.
hi janet, befoe this song was finished i had already rated five stars and entered it into my favorites. this is so well written i'm jealous. killer chorus and killer vocals and band. might be too smart for radio but it's just right for life. so well done, chuck.
LOL, Chuck...coming from YOU, one of the best songwriters on You Tube (and I SERIOUSLY mean that) this is high praise indeed. Thanks so much for listening. :)
Lovely song, nice mixture of folk-jazz and country, pretty unique in this way. Nice picture choices too. Definitely one which will reward the listener with further plays as well.
Hey, thanks for coming to visit, Curtis....I'm glad you enjoyed this, and thanks for your kind words. Yeah, I listen to all kinds of music, so I guess those influences showed up in this one.
