Why doesn't he just wear a freaking blue suit? Why does it have to be a brown suit pretending to be a blue suit? Why can't it just be a brown suit? Why? honestly, it seems to me like a ridiculously huge waste of time.
@thegiantbird Well I would love it if he always wore the same suit in all the episodes, but alas he doesn't. So when doing the mashup, I was forced to change the colour of the suit to match the rest of the project. It's just continuity.
This is great, not only interesting to watch but fun, and you manage to keep the audience interested. A lot of people make vids like this boring. But not you!
I remember you told me a while ago about Motor. You've clearly had a lot of practice with this software. I still think it's nightmare to use and get good results xD the software does confuse me a little with all the different options, and what they do. Do you think you could make a video telling us a few tips when using Motor Roto? ^^
This is very informative and shows the hard work, shear dedication in the production of not just this effect but the whole concept of Trek meets Who. Pretty cool, Kelvington. : )
You would be shocked at how cheap it is. The computer that I created this on was a $300 Dell, the software cost about $2K. So very cheap for a production like this. The DVD's of the shows cost more than anything else. LOL
Nice idea for a series of vids - it's wonderful to see that both you and your fellow editor of Youtube fame Babelfish (who makes the equally incredible Ten Doctors Series) put so much effort into these mash ups, so well done!
And on the subject of not noticing stuff I had NO idea you were American til now. How silly am I? Well, congrats and keep up the good work! :)
Lol, fair enough. I'm also assuming incidently that the tech you used to make the Doc's suit blue was used to give Classic Kirk his movie suit? With this sort of technology in the future I reckon we'll be able to get some pretty fancy crossovers done by Youtubers.
If you didn't notice it, that means it's working. It was just a point of continuity that he should have been in Blue suit for Part III. And had I left it the way it was, you WOULD have noticed that his suit was the wrong colour about half the time. There were shots in very sort order of each other where his suit would have changed colour.
i actually prefer the rown suit, just like the way i prefer the red bow tie :/ dno why

@thegiantbird Okay, yeah. I understand now. I wasn't paying that much attention to the other videos. well, that's really cool.

Thanks for the kind words. That's not a bad idea, I'll have to think of way to make it interesting.

That is truly brilliant. I loved TrekThtrough Time, will you be making an more productions, involving Doctor Who or Star Trek?
Barneystudioz 2 years ago
There's lots of stuff in the pipeline, leaning more to Doctor Who than Trek, but I'll do Trek stuff if I think of something clever.
Kelvington 2 years ago
I think I would be more excited about Doctor Who, I look forward to seeing anything you come up with. Your videos are brilliant.

For some reason, I like the Ghostbusters music in the background; it adds to the informative vibe. XD
This was very interesting to see how you did it. :) And we get to hear your voice! :D

I feel bad I was completely oblivious to the effort of doing this...

If you are oblivious to it, then that means it's working! The object was to blend Who & Trek with as little notice as possible.

Hey Rick! :D What'd you think of the regeneration? :( Sad wasn't it? So yeah, do some more 10th Doctor vids! :D
ButterfliesOnKittens 2 years ago
I hadn't noticed the colour change either. So much work involved but in the end it's seamless (pun possibly intentional). Great job, Rick.

Wonderful work Rick. I have to admit, I never noticed you went into such detail and just assumed you'd picked your shots cleverly =p
