English is one of the best linguistic topics because its origins are in more than 20 languages. Because of this, many of the grammatical and orthographical rules are highly irregular, not to mention it has one of the biggest lexicons of any language. For example, someone is pretty, beautiful, hot, attractive, pleasant, ambrosial, sexy, etc. Yet English speakers wonder why E.S.L. students in the U.S. have trouble learning English...
European languages as well as Sanskrit and the Indian language come from the same source, somewhere around the Black Sea, thats why they're called "indo-germanic" or "indo-european". So it's possible that they got "cummerband" from there. Maybe even "Kummerbund" isn't a german invention, they could have took it from India or old England and formed it into something familiar... Is eh ein komisches Wort, sowat haben wir nich erfunden ;)
This Video is Awesome ♥

the word "cummerband" is supposed to have its origin in India? I think that derived from the German word "Kummerbund", which means exactly the same!
