@TomFrankSurfs You are very observant Tom. Our most expensive board is currently the Olo of the Sun 19 footer at US$852,000. To put it in perspective that's only a weeks earnings for some people.
@RoyStewart Relative to...? If that's $528,000 US. I'm not putting down your idea or your boards, but I am wondering who the clientele is and if you've ever sold a board at that price.
Yes, the hollow boards are actually quicker to make with balsa, and have a bit more flex they should be ' glassed ' with structural cloth though. We do plans for the hollow boards.
Really, $528,000 for a surfboard? That seems vastly overpriced. VASTLY.

@TomFrankSurfs It's all relative, and the experience is priceless so in that sense they can be seen as under priced.

@TomFrankSurfs 1) Relative to income as stated clearly above 2) Relative to the quality of the experience.

Is that paulownia good for surfboards, or what?
kwbloke 4 years ago
Yeah it has a very high strength to weight ratio and is nearly as light as balsa.

This is great. I think all surfers should try to make a surfboard just to understand the toil and talent that goes into making a surfboard.
