Cities in Ohio were without power anywhere from 3 days to two weeks due to winds from Ike. You can see it pass to the south of Florida at 6:11 and make landfall at Galveston, Texas at 6:17. It is the costliest natural disaster in Ohio history, beating out the 1974 Tornado Outbreak that hit Xenia and many other cities. September 14, 2008
Also, Gustav and Hanna had hit the US prior to Ike.
@MrMarkwhitby - Yes, this is showing precipitation, rain, snow, and ice. "Brush stroke" like radar images denote snow (with yellow and red to contain ice/sleet/freezing rain). Rain is more blotchy on these radars.
I posted a summary of how I used gdalwarp for this video on the website shown in my profile (can't put urls in posts). A gdal neophyte might find it useful. If you have had success w/ gdalwarp before it might not have anything new for you.
Hurricanes: Dolly at 4:58 hitting texas, Fay at 5:40-5:48 hitting florida 4 times, Gustav at 5:59 and Ike at 6:18 hitting texas

I did one called "Northern Hemisphere Composite Water Vapor" that covers several months. Dunno offhand if I'm still collecting those frames.

This is fantastic. I'd love to see this done with water vapor imagery.

Why do you spend so much time and effort making these videos? I mean, these videos are freakin awesome, but do you make them just for fun?

Very very good. I really like what you've done.
I'm having my own troubles with gdal-warp. I've been trying to reproject NASA's blue marble image without luck. :(
