What do people think of the new L.E.D.s ? I`m thinking the power saved gets used up in heating pads you need to add, and other heat. I understand you can get the full spectrum but, they say it stacks up better than UV, don`t know about that.

power consumption is a only one issue with grow lights. getting the right light spectrum at the stage the plant needs it for max PAR, yiield and how much heat the lamp puts out that you have to overcome with AC are all factors. FYI we been using induction grow lights. If you haven't heard of them theres a you tube video or go to the inda-gro website and check out the user submitted photos. penetration is around 24", and full spectrum peaking at 350 and 650 NM means only using 1 lamp . peace

As well I noticed that this room was not insulated. The typical police helicopter has IR cameras used to track suspects and their cars at night. It also has a side feature of picking up unusually warm rooms in a house. I personally would purchase an IR camera, just to see how much this room may stick out. If it sticks out too much, I would insulate the room, and vent out excess heat through an old window air conditioner. Then take another picture to see if it looks right.

Just a couple things I am curious about. Since the room is going to be humid, I wonder about the ballast cabinet. It did not appear to be sealed. Is there going to be enough ventilation to prevent moisture corrosion. I did see that there were controls and ventilation for the room. U may want to seal off that ballast cabinet.

600 watts is nothing. computer power supplies of 1kW are common these days (though they only run at 1/2 the capacity most of the time). A microwave/big ass TV/etc all use MUCH more power than your grow op will.

To check prices, figure out what your power company charges you were watt or kW and then google monthly power usage calculator

Man u gotta be paying like atleast 800 a month in utillities! they Tip the Police, or if police get a tip 1st they check the electric companys records for say... 2 years ago for ur house (it'l be MAYBE half what u got now) then they will use FLIR and scan your house, which shows your roof glowing like a cristmas tree cuz you have your setup in your upper floor, your neighbours house wont glow like that. Those are 2 nails in a coffin for the search warrent.

A fish tank probably wont be tall enough, weed can grow ~4 ft, sometimes much higher.  You'll need at the very least some lights, a timer for the lights, fans and something to cover up the sweet delicious stink of heaven.. either a carbon scrubber like he has or some ona gel or something... you wont need a "ballast cabinet" because you can just get some CFL lights to do the job and they don't need ballasts.

if your worried about males use feminized seeds, if your worried about keeping the plants take clones before you flower of every plant than you will have backup preserved clones of the strain that is going into flower... mate

You can tell from the sex organs. They are located usually behind the 2 green blades that shoot up along the plants main stem at the intersections. The organs will spit out white hairs (pistils) anywhere from 1' to 3' usually. If balls appear and the organs dont spit out hairs you know its a male!
