  • I gotta tell ya sir I just love the local history you're bringing to life here. Please keep it up. From a history buff to a history buff..... Also, Ive revently found a nice little row of coke ovens in Smithton Pa. Right off the main drag into town (981). If you make a right between the National City and a little supermarket (its a narrow alleyway) go all the way to the end and look left, they're right in there along the creek. I wish I could send you a photo. I do have a nice one.

  • @Foam219 thank you for the directions...I knew there were some there but were not sure...Will film and post!

I am glad you are so interested at such a young age...enjoy it before it's gone!

  • Not bad, considering the age. Hope you can get permission to get a closer look.

  • What are coke ovens? i see your videos alot, and never quite understood what they are.

  • @4431prw coke is the primary fuel to make steel. before there were modern methods, coke was made in these ovens cooking coal to a charcoal consistency..The EPA Shut down all outside coke oven operations in 1972
