  • his name means fine, as in handsome in french :)

  • I like this video very much! My personal favorite: 0:40 you can really see, what he's doing...

  • I love this. Soo funny. haha

  • @mrgranturismo

no he wasnt. he just helpped make it more public, david learned parkour from his dad who learned it from the french army. david did not invent parkour

  • I'll never have the guts to do parkour like David Belle.

  • @2pac1411 Well, start training. Parkour is not about going somewhere and trying the sickest/wildest thing you can imagine. Sure, most of the traceurs who have more than 4yrs experience like myslef do "wild" stuff, but just because we are mentally and physically prepared for it. Every move takes practice and conditioning.

If you haven't already started, then start training Parkour. Beautiful sport.

If you need any tips/tutorials feel free to PM me, I'll gladly help a traceur/traceus ;)

  • @ezkiller93 I am training Parkour only 8 months so maybe I am not mentally and physically prepared like you say. Thanks for help,I 'll be sure to PM you if I need help with something :)

  • @2pac1411 Anytime, I'll gladly help ;)

  • I need to learn how to roll like this. After finally figuring how to avoid hitting my shoulder and spine, I roll on concrete to realize I hit my hip... now I've been trying desparately to avoid that.

  • if you notice he does a figure 4 with his legs when he is rolling

  • 31 can do a better roll and dislike the video because of that :-P

  • @JannisAdmek you do know david belle was one of the creators of parkour right

  • Who's those motherfuckers that dislike this video, fuck them!

  • You're all over thinking this. David Belle is the father of Parkour, yes. But more importantly he's no different from you or I. He is a traceur, and uses his own form of expression in his Parkour.

  • yes David Belle's technique is genuine because if you try the roll any other way you might end up with an unconfortable landing, his roll starts off with a land but then his hands touch the ground and he uses his body wait that is thrust by the momentum of gravity to shift his body into a barrel roll then he does whatever he can to position himself out. the barrel roll is perfect for parkour because it clears out the contact with bones like right above your sholder bone, and your lower back.

  • David Belle does the side roll right? He starts off with a regular roll position but shifts to the sausage(side) roll, then he exits the roll normally right? Most of his roll is sideways right?

  • @SI0AX he rolls over his arm, and does end up exiting normal. Rolling over the arm is the most comfortable and painless way to roll.

  • I understand what David Belle does he doesnt fully bend his legs upon impact infact he keeps them pretty straight, but when his feet hit the ground he lowers his upper body to fall on the ground so its his upper body thats targeting the ground not his legs.

  • I ve been learning the parkour roll and practicing alot for bout year n a month

no evry time I land I automatically roll without even thinking because ive done it so many times. good video , also if you are jumping from a very high hight and your lower ab muscles start to hurt that means you arnt ready for this hight yet-you need to progress slowely.

  • alot of people need to watch this vid everywhere i go on youtube theres roll tutorials that ALL bend their knees PAST 90 DEGREES. the veiwers are getting wrong advice and will break their knees. everybody spread the word about this vid!!!!! Hey, if im goin to do any parkour, im gonna do the way david belle does it.

  • 1:37 looks like he was taking a shit while he jumped. but his rolling technique is great...

  • here is a tip : if you roll sideways like david, lean a bit to the side so you can perform the roll more confortable and avoid more impact, trust me, i studied the roll techniques by high impacts for like 10 months

  • i have a great roll i can do it on ground and it doesent hurt, but im fcking afraid to try a building jump, its like 5 metres high and like 8 meters of distance.... i know i can do it but im scared

  • @faquiado NO! Definetly don't! I don't wanna see on the news, "Suicide in (wherever) jumped off of a building."

  • @an1kay Hey mate, ty for caring but i already did it =)

  • @faquiado oh wow, I didn't realize how old that comment was.....XD but 5 meters is like 17 feet? That's a pretty far drop. My roll hurts my hip at high speed....it pisses me off

  • This is great man! Finally able to study the best PK roll there is!

  • かっこいい

  • the whole point is, that your legs, more, your knees shouldn't bend more then 90 degrees...that's the most important part of it...

  • thanks, i really need this video

  • 1:44....Amazing

  • @OhMyNemesis Its not really that big but its still a good jump ;)

  • david belle ist der beste;)

    geile roulade von david belle

hofe es gibt wieder mal ein vid von 2009;)

    parkour 4 ever

  • wow I roll exactly like david belle looks like im doing it right!

  • i hate WMG!

  • WMG blows dead bears

  • Das Video ist gut aber die Zeitlupe brauch mach nicht wirklich

  • its not detailed at all. its just a few clips of david belle doing rolls. there's nothing explained at all...

  • thanks :)

  • tnx for the video ^_^

  • Whoever made this Video, I love you

  • Do you roll on your back?

  • roll over four shoulder, and over to the opposite hip.

  • Please dont roll on your hip bone, took me a while to learn this, learn by my mistake and roll further down your shoulder and to a point just above the hip bone (the one that juts out in your back) itl mean you come out oif your roll a bit sideways, but this can be easily remedied, your hip bone shouldn hit the surface at all

  • @DazaPk well, i do the 90 degress roll, wich is rolling sideways and land it facing 90 degree to the side. and if you hit the hipbone you can avoid more impatc

  • Even a professional can get hurt by rolling...even if he seems to be fine after leaps like that, problems will come in age.

Still... I can't imagine the feeling of doing the jump at 1:18!

  • Yeah! I've finally found, what I was doing wrong... Thx. ;]

  • When you manage to do the roll you don't have to use ANY FORCE AT ALL forward. You should be pushed into roll by the presure from the jump - if you do it right. This means that you should lean a bit forwards while doing it. However, It doesn't matter how good you tecnique is if your whole legs aren't trained enough. You will damage yourself if you don't have the proper training AND tecnique.

Belle does hundreds of knee bendings every day with weightwest and about 1000 sit-ups.

  • Of course his a pro, of course he has 20 yrs of experience, of course the roll gives him less damage... But, this could still not be GOOD for his body? It is absolutly NOT POSSIBLE that his body doesn't get damaged by this, jumping from a 6-7 mtrs high building down on stone MUST under all surcomstances hurt his body... Thats for sure..

  • maybe the way he does it puts the stress on parts of the body which recover easily, thus preventing a long term injury.

  • First his is not jumping from 6-7m but 5m or close to 5m.Next there isnt magic way that make you will not hurt from jumps(law of physics are how they are)but you can make damage less and don't hurt yourself like normal person would.

  • he have more experience than 20 years

  • 20 years of experiance

  • That is so hott.

  • damn, how did he land that last one? he didn't even do a safety roll... he just landed it.

  • ya can't really roll if you have no forward momentum... you'd basically be landing, absorbing all the shock with your legs anyway, and then doing a roll just for the heck of it :P

  • you can but it is really hard, well i think you can at least. Because when you are coming from a height, you basically repel against the ground cause your downwards momentum to go forward, making the roll mroe useful and to me, not as hard. I didn't learn that you are suppose to repel forward on purpose till a week or so ago.

  • yeah, its the opposite of "blocking"

  • rolling will also absorb the shock from ur legs, making u feel a bit better

  • that's exactly how i roll but when i do it from a fall i colapse and hurt myself.

  • Parkour is so much better than Australian Football! Damn I don even know how I can compare it |o| =P

  • i love doin parkour if people wernt on drugs and did parkour instead they would still be high on adrenalin

  • That reminds me, I told a friend: "If you could get high without drugs, wouldn't you?"

  • Well said. I'd love to find drugs and shit on 'em |o|.

  • are its Linkin Park.

  • God/Allah/Ishwar/Khuda/Yahweh bless you all! Mr. David Belle, the people who got the footage, made the video, and put it up.

I'm finally rolling painlessly, and very quickly, across tiles and concrete!

The sheer pleasure from the runner's high is unbelievable!

  • nice rolls !!!

  • David Belle is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. GOD bless him

  • No god. Only his physical ability.

  • lol david belle made ''parkour'' hes the best

  • wrong hes dad teachet him how french soldiers where running throw the forest... then he and hes friends startet to train it on the streets.. but you are right.. david belle is the best

    sry for bad english

  • No, him and his friends created.

He was inspired by his dad and french soldiers, but wasn't taught by them.

They just named the movement they enjoyed doing together as friends.

  • his father did teach him

  • His father didn't teach him Parkour though, although his father may have taught him techniques that 'lead' to the foundations of Parkour.

  • yes, that's what I tried to say

  • you are the king of parkour, and this is the best of parkour and the real.

  • you are the king of parkour, and this is the best of parkour and the real.

  • he is a phenomenon !!! The best Traceur

  • Thanx for posting this!

  • lo podian haber elegido a el para la peli de catwoman XD aunque seria un gato en vez de gata pero aun asi seria super real,no como en la peli que es todo mentira y a ordenador ^^

  • it is detailed but can u show the hand placement up close tha david uses

  • also should i land like leaning forward if so how much?

  • Always land with forward momentum, otherwise you won't be able to roll. You don't want to start the roll (shoulder to the ground) too soon (you could break your collar bone) and you don't want to do it too late either. Like I said before, you'll know if it is right. (practise on grass etc first till you feel comfortable)

  • sorry man hit wrong hand- meant to give u thumbs up

  • ah k. all good.

  • at what angle should i put my shoulder down to the ground ?and how far should i bend my knees? and should one of my hands go closer to my feet than the other?

  • You will know when you roll correctly. it's a kind of feeling. Also, make sure that you NEVER bend your knees past 90 degrees when you land (you will give yourself bad injuries for later on if you do...)

  • very nice,, i would pay to see some chavs or police in a chase with him, ive seen the druggy one witch is mint but chavs would be funny

  • arinlares is a fucktard

lets learn by trying? lets just try do that 20ft jump between buildings, see how it goes, theres always trial and error?

i got news for u! at that hieght and that big a jump there is no try!

there is no screw it up and practice again, u hav to be sure!!! or u fkn die

arinlares u r a dumb cunt and im being harsh becaus i dont want some 11 yr old to just go try something like that!!! fkn hell!

  • Dude you are so right about arinlares. You learn from practice & then do it right...not from thinking...you cant try again if you fuck up a 20ft jump!

  • gd to c this place isnt full of brainwashed U$F fucks

    ;)

  • think about the obstacle, whether or not you can do it, if you "think" you can do it, do you think you can? thinking about obstacles includes factoring in the risks vs the perks. please, as i said above, and my dad said to me for seventeen years, THINK, LISTEN, TRY

  • I see where you are coming from but...the way you had wrote it made my 12 year old brother jump off my shed coz you had written try and you will learn...he fractured a bone in his leg. Plz dude when you write comments like that, make sure people know exactly what you mean. Peace.

  • listen here... we have us a fuckin idiot...

Please, practice common sense. I said WATCH, THINK, and TRY. if you are eleven years old, and decide to jump from building to building, with a twenty foot gap, are you THINKING? NOOOOO! i think not. so, once0is0never, THINK or fuck yourself up. you sure as hell cant think about writing, but you probably cant do parkour without twisting your dick in a pretzel.

these words are for everybody: THINK, LISTEN, TRY.

  • lmao.. twistin..dick... lol. i c wat u mean dude..but u also gotta c wat a little eager kid hears wen he reads wat u first typed... He sees a massive fucking jump and then hes sees ppl saying u hav to try this to learn...if u had of wrote that in the first place i wouldnt hav had a problem with it... and i wasnt bein abusive cause i was bored.. i was concerned.. just try to c wat u wrote from an outsiders perspective...

    peace

  • Amen brother.

  • Lame. The fact that your 12 year old brother would blame jumping off a roof on what someone posted in a YouTube comment is ludicrous.

Maybe you should teach him a thing or two about gravity before he jumps from another building with no training or experience.

Quit blaming other people for someone else's err in judgment.

  • Children can't be blamed for errors in judgment. They are easily misguided. Such things have happened in the past. You never know what goes on in a child's mind.

It's better to be safe than sorry. That's why certain programs have PG ratings and in certain others it is mandatory to have a "Do not try this at home" tag at the beginning.

  • would the jump at 01:10 secs be really hard to make or wud it be easy seeing that u are up higher than the building u are landing on????

  • well, you might make it, even though i doubt it. he jumps pretty much. the other question is if you'd handle the jump correctly, which i really doubt

  • Also Leevancleff, it wouldn't neccisarily be easy to make that jump, considering you still have to jump about 12 feet to make the gap.

  • how do u do slow mo??

  • ty Jusstiiin dis vid helped alot ty m8-p.s daveid belle rockz!

  • shut da fuck up bitch

  • cool jumps

  • nope

  • you learn by watching, thinking, and trying.

  • you learn by watching, thinking and trying small.

  • how do you the slowmotion with the movie maker ??????????

  • It's kinda like the judo breakfall, but not quite. The general idea is the same --- to distribute the force of the impact. But in Judo, you dissipiate all the energy into the ground. In PK, the energy from the fall is channelled forward, so you can keep on running.

In Judo it's more of a breakfall (kinetic energy -> sound, movement -> non-movement). In PK, it's more of a roll (as smooth as possible, as quiet as possible). Also, PK rolls are adapted to landing on a hard surface

  • plus the only way to survive falls from the height is to convert some of the force forward. if you tried to break the fall completely, you'd shatter bones, but I get what you mean

  • Omg, they are so good, look my video youtube -dot- com/watch?v=QKicNgOJvPg ,,,, change the -dot- to a (.) point:p. i hop u like it so much ore more then this video.

  • David Belle is cool :D

  • hes not cool the friken awsum!! GO DAVE!

  • 1:38 ROFL!

  • this sucks man this isn't a tutorial

this is just david belle in slowmotion doing his fallbreak's

  • actualy its break-fall and he is awsome!!!!!!!!

  • the title doesnt say tutorial, it says roll analysis

  • "This is very detailed tutorial of how to roll in parkour."

This is not a tutorial :P It's just David Belle in slowmotion!

  • oh, ok :)

  • 1,29 lol

  • Mind if I ask: Why lol on 1,29?

  • the distance and height made me laugh

  • agree, a vocal tutorial or some word displays can help more than linking park, but I like the song :D

  • the 1,29 jump was made by spiderman but not by normal man xP

  • Why put music to this instead of a vocal "how to" commentary that would have ACTUALLY been useful?

  • I don't like his roll XD

  • It's kinda like the judo breakfall, but not quite. The general idea is the same --- to distribute the force of the impact. But in Judo, you dissipiate all the energy into the ground. In PK, the energy from the fall is channelled forward, so you can keep on running.

In Judo it's more of a breakfall (kinetic energy -> sound, movement -> non-movement). In PK, it's more of a roll (as smooth as possible, as quiet as possible). Also, PK rolls are adapted to landing on a hard surface.

  • parkour rolling is actually a "break" roll used in judo to stop damage to the spine by rolling shoulder to hip instead of head to ass and also allows you to take more momentum with you.

  • The song is "Session" by Linkin Park, off Meteora.

  • What's that soundtrack?

  • nice music

  • Parcous is simple. It's about knowing your environment as well as your strenght. More to the point: you have to know where you will land before any jump. Its best to know the surface before hands. How to land? To try to resist your trajectory or direction, make sure the fall ends naturally not because you want it, this is why we roll on the floor because some jumps are so powerfull we need an extra movement forward to slow and stop it naturally.

  • Yes you have right

  • hey medaa25 parkour its just about jumping dude parkour's point is to get from point A to point B as fast as posible and jumping is one of those soloution but its not everything u can use everything that the phisycal body can do that includes jumping,climbing,etc...

  • not*

  • Hey, Wassup? I know parcours is not all about jumps. I was reffering to jumps because this video is about a jump that went wrong...

  • hey ohh so u know then srry about saying that u didn't know lol but i know a lot about parkour because iv been doing it for 2 years(NO LIE!!) and some people don't know anything aboutit lol and i thought u were one of those people

  • That will never happen, because Parkour is't a challenge!!

  • i wonder is parkour could ever become an olympic sport, but then david belle would win gold all the time

  • through all the footage i have seen of David, it seems he is more about the technical side of Parkour, he makes sure everything is in control, whereas someone like Seb Foucan is more about the style rather than focusing on perfect form. Thats where Parkour and Free Running differ. BTW, nice vid, and cool music to boot.

  • david belle is the owner number 1

  • David Belle owns everyone in parkour!

  • Competition are not part of Parkour, so he dan´t own anyone ^_-

David Belle is just greadt, thank you for Parkour

  • Watch and learn. Next time you're running, feel your body through it all... from jumping, to landing, rolling, and flipping. Know your body, and go with the flow!!! Remember timing... You can learn to flow from round-off's, then round-off's to backflips, then to standing backflips.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmm this is a god roll i like alot im going 2 be useing it alot but on this video there is sum bit where u cant see anything to help u

  • hm. no verbal tutorial or words or anything but hey, still helpful. thanks.

  • This video is no speaking tutorial, but for those who know how to look, its clear like a crystal

  • whats the song name, please?

  • linkin park session

  • althouth no tutorial , it highlights the fact that david starts his rolls while he is still high up and not when his knees are bent low. really helps me thanks

  • Thanks, nice.

  • very detailed tutorial? Not.

  • david belle rocks and juustiin rocks. thanx for helping me with rolling

  • great video

i'd suggest next time some tips or instructions would supplement the clips perfectly

  • thanks. such a helpfull vid.

  • awsome

  • Cool, it helps quite a lot!

  • he IS the most wicked of em all...

  • thanks for the vid. as a n00b to parkour this kind of thing helps.
