  • @HappinessGuano Story of my life!

  • HOLY CRAP THAT FREAKED THE CRAP OUT OF ME. O.O

  • She'd be a good eponine

  • This song is so tragically ironic when you see the ending...:( poor Lucy...this is a GORGEOUS song though!

  • Why do they always kill my favorite characters!?

  • LOVE Hoff's singing in the Lucy's death scene. It's gorgeous and powerful yet so creepy and insane sounding...amazing!

  • DUDE!!! yeeeugh...thats brutal

  • she is so gorgeous and has a phenomenal singing voice <3

  • hyde is a real back stabber :)

  • 6:47 does her foot look a little weird like it has a thumb

  • i would really have loved to see her as eponine

  • Although Confrontation is my favorite scene in the show, I think this is my favorite scene in the movie. Where the singing needed to be perfect it was, and when the acting needed to be stellar they pulled it off. Say what you will about Hasslehoff, but he pulled off this scene nicely. I absolutely love this show and this shows how far Hyde will go.....I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing performance but... why is she wearing a corset to sleep?

  • @LoveNeverDiesForever I feel like that's just how underwear was in that time period.

  • @LoveNeverDiesForever because her teddy bear pj's were in the wash hehe

  • this is why i want to be on the stage..

  • Why must the theme be repeated so many times?

  • I really want to get this version of DVD! But I can't find any!

How can I get this DVD?!?

  • @verdeholic pretty sure you can find it on Amazon.com, I have even seen it at Barnes and Noble in their musical section :)

  • @Chickibabe247

    thank you very much ;)))

  • @verdeholic welcome :D

  • @verdeholic download it

  • Wow, I thought this song was hard to sing in the ORIGINAL key, she sang it 2 steps up!

  • Does anyone know what that high note is at "That's what I've been here for ALL along"?

  • Comment removed

  • @C8l8o8u8d It's a D.

  • @Kaheelarila Ah, thanks. I knew the high note in Good 'N Evil was an E, so I was interested in comparing the two.

  • i was very upset with this

  • Please tell me I'm not the only one who cringed when I heard that knife stab into Coleen's back.

  • okay... David H. really didn't impress me with some of his songs, like 'dangerous Game' but he seriously kreeped me out in this scene! And coleen S. really made this song her own. Bravo to them both!!!

  • She's got a beautiful body

  • GOOSEBUMPS!

  • DARN IT!! I hate this!! lol

  • she's honestly sooo inspirational to me!. i lov her. im going to do this song for my audition for the play(:

  • Hoff, You have your moments, such as your last lyric in "Alive" not to shabby, and

"kindness in this place" was cool, but your jekyll just sucks, good effortt though, Thank you for putting this up, i seem to be talking a lot about Hoff but Coleen is the true star of this video, and shes blows it out of the park, she is amazing!

  • Hoff is good with the lines, and actions.. he just can't sing. so he's be brilliant at the role.. if it wasn't a musical.

  • Ok guys, never thought I'd say this, I had watched some other clips of Colleen doing this, not having known who she is at all... and I'm a die-hard Linda Eder fan - Colleen has more a voice in the vein of Frances Ruffelle for sure - but she really really really really really is good! She's really quite amazing. I agree her acting is quite good and it's refreshing to see this considering Linda's acting is quite lukewarm. There just isn't the dedication to character that you see here....

  • @rlee1976 I agree with you here, while Linda has the pipes for this role Colleen has the acting. Linda Eder is my absolute favorite singer too! Colleen just beats her on the acting. They both have beautiful voices I must say as well.

  • She truly forces the audience to cry about her death, and sympathize for her. Thats how it was supposed to be done.

  • She makes this song sound like a Disney princess song!

which isnt a bad thing, I absolutely love her voice!

  • I usually have a problem with the Hoff's goat-like bleating--I mean singing, but I just love the way he sings, "And kindness are found in this place!" It's so...maniacal and chilling. Very Hyde.

His Jekyll blows, though. To be frank, lol.

  • Oh, what I would give to see the full version of Cuccioli and Linda Eder doing this.

  • I really hate this part! not only is Lucy my favorite character, Hyde is deliberately mocking her and then brutally murders her!

  • I can't believe I am actually saying this but, as much as I dislike David Hasselhoff, I do have to admit that he does an amazing Hyde.... but a terrible Jekyll. Sorry, but you have to be damn good at both not just one. btw, where can I get this versions music?

  • David: "No, closer, closer..."

Me: "SHE'S ALREADY SITTING ON YOUR FREAKING LAP? WHAT DO YOU WANT HER TO DO, PHASE THROUGH YOU??????"

Issues with David "Goat-Voice" Hasslehoff aside, the best part in this scene (which thankfully even Baywatch Boy couldn't ruin) is when the members of the Company just lift Lucy up on the block and wheel her into the shadows off-stage. Its just so unjust, so pitiful, so pathetic, final, just so....sad.

  • i love this song and musical and coleen sings it the best i think...... and hasslehoff comes in and ruins it.

  • chiiilllinnggg. in a VERY good way! also, how did they get the knife sounds??

  • chiiilllinnggg. in a VERY good way!

  • GOOSEBUMPS!!!! I love this song (and this show)

  • This has always been my favourite part, next to Confrontation (Our theatre is performing this, and I love mixing these parts). This part always touches me.

  • Coleen Sexton spells W.O.W!

  • Coleen has an amazing voice, but I prefer Linda Eder's version. Btw I think Coleen looks more like a dreamer, Linda is too serious, so I think Coleen is perfect for this role

  • This song makes me cry every time I hear it...so powerful...it gives me chills every time I hear it...its uplifting. Then he had to go and kill her :(

  • well this is gunna be interesting when we do it for my school musical...................

  • I absolutely love this musical and wud love to play coleens character Lucy Harris. :D

  • 3:25-3:51. That's all I have to say.

  • its sad how when she finally decides to change her ways and get a new life, she gets killed.

  • so basically wildhorn slightly modified Jason Robert Brown's "opening to the new world" melody and then repeated it over and over again.

  • I hated Hoff as Hyde for the most part. But I must say, all his murder scenes are very good.

  • She sounds very Disney cartoon movie. Like Bell from Beauty and the Beast (the movie). lol

  • i think she's extremely talented but she's a little too nasal

  • here's a humble male version of the song...pls tell me what you think....thanks...

  • I've seen a version of this song where after Hyde laughs he transforms back into Jekyll right in front of Lucy's dead body. I think this is the highlight of Hoff's performance.

  • Brilliant. Watching the end scene gives me chills everytime. I absolutely love this show! Wish we could do it at my school. I would kill to play Lucy.

  • Love this song and the young lady singing did a fabulous job! Bravo!!

  • What makes this amazingly horrid besides the obvious is that Jekyll is there somewhere inside Hyde, and the whole idea of him having to watch Lucy being killed is pretty sad.

  • So unfair Lucy dying! She desearved a happy ending! She´s a very special character!

  • The ultimate song and sung beautifully by this young lady. Bravo!!!

  • I rly think this is the hardest song 0-o lol

  • I think the most horrifying death is Lucy's because thought she was a prositute, she was purer of heart then the rich group that Hyde killed earlier in the show. So seeing him kill all that loving hope is a lot more disturbing.

  • This is what I my daughter is singing for the final performance for her chorus before she graduates to high school. Thank you guys... You know who you are.. with me being sick and not getting ahold of heather.. Her Choral Teacher got her this version.. TYVM. All the Jek and Hyde Cast.

  • for me personally, if you combine Linda Eder's voice with Colleen Sexton's acting, you'd get a perfect Lucy :-)

  • I'm speechless...the way she scream when he first stabbed her...by the Gods.

  • I'd say that I prefer linda eder's voice, but colleen is definitely the more animated actress

  • I think Linda and Coleen do a great job with this song, they both have amazing voices! I love the note Coleen hits at 3:31!

  • HOLY CRAP....THAT was unexpected...and sad...T.T

  • Oh I love this song, we jsut finished watching this dvd in my theatre class today, it was so good :)

  • Lovely song!

  • I love Colleen Sexton WAY BETTER than linda Eder in this role

  • This is the only scene hoff is good in...

But other then that, Robert cuccoilli or whatevs his name is totally kicks his ass wen it comes to this role

  • I jumped the first time watching it when he got her in the back with the fake knife

  • @ponyboy1983 That's kind of the point of the song.

  • I keep watching this death scene!!! best one ever!!! soooo amazing

the music just makes it amazing !

  • This is wonderful :) She sings so beautifully and full of passion... just wow.

  • we just did this show, and on the last night we all cried when our lucy sang this song, she did it soooo well. Well done Jade :)

  • ironically after this song.... she's killed....what a great "new life".

  • I hate this part, and yet I love it. I love it because of the song, hate it because HE kills her. When I saw this part I flipped out. It's horribale, but intense at the same time. Hyde gave me the chills up and down my spin. SO SCARY! Well dome.

  • @ujump411 I know what you mean. ! I felt the same way too when Hyde killed Lucy ( and still do actually )...and Colleen is next to Linda Eder as the two best Lucies..!

  • Wow! You don't find many 20 year olds like Coleen who can perform this very demanding role, and knock it out of park! The emotions she shows in her facial expression and vocal choices are beautiful. Brava!

  • @musicalgeek10 you should see her do whipped into shape from legally blonde!

  • @nannaboo96 I did!! I saw her in chicago with the touring company.

  • knowind that Lucy is killed by Hyde right after this song, I almost cry every time I listen to A New Song. Coleen's cool but my fav version of this song is Kate Shindle's/

  • I heard her sing Someone Like Me and I didn't like it, but this was beautiful! She really can sing.

  • its so sad after tht epic song she dies.... but i so wna be her if we ever do this yup my dream role a hooker....classy lol

  • i love her so much.

  • Comment removed

  • i love her. i wish i had a voice like her.

  • I like this musical's score, and that a musical with mainly ballads is really electrifying. I also thought it was good staging when she sang 'bright enough' and the lamp glowed 5x brighter.

  • I cannot get over how AMAZING her belt is that high, while sitting. Completely blown away.

  • When he sings "tenderness" i get da chills :] xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDd

  • This musical has become my new obsession. :]

  • Mine too!!! Did u hear they rmaknig a movie? It's supposed to come out in like July of 2010

  • Someone bought the rights, but they might not actually do it. I doubt they will because nothing's been confirmed.

  • They're making a movie?!?! OMG I can't wait till 2010! All of these awesome movies are coming out! I am obsessed with Jekyll and Hyde too. :D

  • OMG ME TOO!!! Isn't it awesome? Whats ur fav song in it??

  • Hmm, it has to be the Confrontation. It's so epic! Me and my sister memorized it and sing we sing it at random times. I'm Jekyll :P

  • She's really amazing.

  • this is such a beautiful song but so hard to belt! especially after doing the entire show before hand!! ahhh i can't even imagine haha I would be so tired by the time i got to this song I'd like die lol. But mad props to Coleen and Linda and everyone else who can pull it off so beautifully!

  • Meanwhile, Hyde is killing several of the rich old folk in the town. The night before Jekyll's wedding to Emma, he sends his friend to give Lucy a notewith some money, telling her to flee the town and start a new life. Hyde then comes in and kills her (as you see in this clip) Jekyll is ready to marry Emma and the whole while, he is being conflicted with Hyde. And...I wont tell you the end ^_^

Hope that helps! I love this show so much!

  • can someone explain this plot to me its seems like a beautiful show but im a bit confused

  • Dr. Jekyll is getting married to Emma Carue (Carew?) and he's preoccupied with this liquid he's making that can seperate the good side and bad side of a person. His friends take him to a brothel where he meets Lucy and she inspires him to create this liquid and he drinks it himself turning him into Mr. Hyde, a murderous madman. Lucy goes to Dr. Jekyll's the next day because this "Hyde" came to her in the night and abused her. She kisses Jekyll and is falling in love with him.

  • the entire broadway production of this is on youtube.

  • I really don't think DH is that bad. I mean, Hyde is supposed to be crazy.

  • Simply beautiful. I was fortunate to see her in Legally Blonde.

  • She was in Legally Blonde? As who?

  • Brooke Wyndom (spelling?)

  • the tour as brook wyndm (no i cant spell it lols)

there is a vid on here somewhere

    x

  • i love this video-this is my favorite version of this song i have heard.

  • She uses her voice as such a powerful instrument. Lovely!

  • i think amazin !!.. xx

  • i played this musical by myself.

    it was great!

    i love it!

  • beautiful!!!

  • i love her voice

  • the irony in this song makes me want to cry :(

  • ironic: my marching band did this show last year ("murder, murder", "in his eyes", "facade") then my theatre director gives me this song....i didn't knew she sang it rigth before she died though...yeesh

  • i'd love to play Lucy if just for that death scene

  • Oh my God! I seriously feel sick to my stomach now. This musical has so many moments that make you want to just slit your wrists. To think I may be playing this role soon! Beautiful, but completely unnerving.

  • so true *sigh*

  • I saw the broadway vision 3 times with Linda Eder twice and this girl comes as close as possible. However does anyone know if there's a DVD available without Hessel(bad)? He ruins the entire scene when changing from Jekyll to Hyde.

  • indeed...this is the moment = pretty good, first transformation = fail.

  • epic fail.

  • as far as i know, there is no other version out there except the one with david hasselholf.. he is pretty horrid but get the dvd anyway,, i have it and its the best.. just ignore mr hasselholf ..lol.. coleen is unbelieveable in it.. its worth the money

  • I totally agree. I was at the filming of this show for the DVD, it was a gift from my brother. I saw the cameras but didn't exactly know what was going on until the end when DH came out and made an announcement. I was seated in the middle section 2nd row from stage. The performances were brilliant, however, I remember sitting there thinking DH singing is horrible and my point was proven when he sang "this is the moment" on AGT, I think his co-judges were being kind...

  • omg-that mus have been amazing to see it. i mean, except for DH. I saw an excellent performance of Jekyll and Hyde by my brothers high school. i would love to see it done professionally sometime though

  • I'm more impressed by this actress, she's younger and has more spark This whole performance is more contemporary and lively she has such vocal clarity

  • Shivers down my spine everytime

  • how the hell does she sing in that corset? the things people do yo.

  • Her Voice Just Seems To Make You Feel So Many Different Things At Once , I Really Love It

  • Susan Boyle should sing this on Britain's Got Talent ,enh!

  • i never cease to be unsettled by her death scene...

  • I think that's why I like it. It adds a touch of innocence to it. And I wish people wouldn't compare, and could just enjoy.

  • she does not 2 be mean but linda eder is epic

  • Her voice. That's what I've been here for all along

  • cool how random is hasselhoff??????

  • aw really you met her? no fair thats awesome! okay, well i have a friend with multipule personalities and we are pretty close. And well he remembers most things when he changes but not all. So i was wondering if the same happened about the letter? Did Hyde not know of the letter cus that didn't transfer like some convos with my friend and i?

  • I met her. She's really nice :)

  • She has a beautiful voice ! It makes it so powerful and beautiful and sad all at the same time

  • Wow she just incredible!

  • that was AMAZING!!

  • wow she has an amazing voice! she really brought it towards the end of a new life!

  • No she didn't, sadly. But I have this exact version (so not perfect sound quality) on MP3 if you want it?

  • yes i would! thank you

  • I really want to buy Jekyll and Hyde the musical.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy a soundtrack with 'a new life' and 'good and evil' on it? Did Coleen do a recording of this?

  • You can go on iTunes and buy it

  • i like coleens portrayal so much better than lindas. i think that having a younger person being naiive about life and discovering the truths of it the hard way is soo much deeper than having someone who is older and more experienced about life.

  • This scene is so sad:( I love this song and i love Coleen Sexton as Lucy

  • Poor Lucy!!! Oh - I've almost cried!

  • I love Coleen as Lucy...she's amazing. Also, for David Hasselhoff not being very good, I do like his Sympathy, Tenderness reprise...

  • I love Coleen Sexton's portrayal of Lucy; it's so sweet.
