that whites is from around 1980,they were heavy,friend had a 6000di hip mount,when i began hunting,1982,that thing looked like a heart defib machine,BUTit got just as deep as a new minelab....robbie

That's a classic Nuggetnoggin! There are several cartoon drawings running around the net that use that same theme. The fact that you actually found a metal detector with your metal detector is hilarious! You should send that story to the maker of your metal detector, and/or to White's. By the way, when the guy used a nail as an emergency fix to attach the coil, the only signal he would receive would be the iron signal from the nail. Another irony, as he probably thought the detector was broken.

My wife laughed about finding that detector. Said it was ironic. The White's dealer in Scotland (where I downloaded the manual for the one I have) has a lot of stuff about older models. I'll see if I can find that one.
