@2012Romney Definitely more epic with Sammy. Dave was a showman. He was never really that good a singer but he had attitude and that worked in the studio. Live it was a drunken farce in the Roth era. I saw them with both guys and the Sammy era destroyed the Roth era live too.

This was a good one. Eddie sounded great. The whole song did. I think the comments are ridiculous between Dave and Sammy. Eddie loves the guitar and piano and for a young guy we heard his drive for it on stage and albums. I prefer Sammy. Their albums evolved greatly. Better song writing, structure in the music. With Roth I felt the guitar and drums were louder than his voice. With Sammy everything was balanced. Some of the newer singles I would rather hear Sammy than Roth like this one.
FACT - They sold twice as many albums with Dave and grossed twice as much money with Dave.
Sammy would have faded in the 80's with Rick Springfield if DLR did not quit Van Halen. Sammy needs to get on his knees every night and thank Dave for the fame he inherited from David Lee Roth.

However I am so pissed at Eddie for depriving all of us a lot of great music he could be putting out but he would rather short coke then anything else. I'm the fan of me ;) It amazes me 'why' oh WHY do people follow 'other people like sheep?!? He plays a guitar, I use a plastering trowel so what? I 'produce' something that is useful to society and get paid peanuts by comparison. Van Halen couldn't do Eruption albums for ever, when David Lee Roth left Sammy Haggar was the best lead singer they could get and could have gotten at that time, unless they they stole Don Dokken or David Coverdale from the bands they where with, Patti Smyth was supposed to join the band but it would not have worked

Bands like this are no more. You wont see another mainstream band with stand-out instrumentalists like EVH. Or bands that are named after someone other than the lead singer. Or bands with stand-out background vocals. And you will certainly never, ever see a group again with more than 1 lead vocalist like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, etc. Lawyers and agents make sure they dont get famous. They are lawsuit liabilities. Thats why todays music is a endless sea of shitty solo artists.

@JabberCT Yup. Shitty solo artists who have shorter shelf lives than bananas. Most of them are toured to death b/c they exist on singles, as opposed to full length albums. Most of them don't write their own material either so they don't receive royalties, which shortens their careers even further. The talent is still here. It's the industry that's changed. Thanks to media conglomerates who control all aspect of the entrainment industry (not just music) music will only gets worse, imo

As far as blaming Sammy for this "lame ass" song, Sammy wrote lyrics to the lame ass music that Eddie wrote. Eddie wrote the music to this turd not Sammy.
