  • Nuclear waste is a very dense, hard solid, wrapped in steel and concrete. you need one fucker of an explosion to crack the containers, let alone disperse the material itself. The containers are tested in full scale crashes, and come out with barely a scratch.

Should something happen, the only death will be an unfortunate person who got flattened by a flying container...

  • I can't believe that the History Channel ever aired this sensationalist crap. Everyone who thinks radioactive waste isn't transported safely on the rails needs to watch the videos of the casks being tested. From an engineering standpoint it is incredible what they can withstand.

  • Nuclear waste carried on roads would be but a fraction of what whould be carried by freight rail.Even if the casks dont explode in crashes who is to say another element doesn't create a fire or explosion which would drive everyone into a panic and cause another Chernobyl or Three Mile Island who would be fear-mongering then..??..Some people are screwed..

  • Good point train guy..there is millions of risks involved its easy to say its the safest way provided all goes to plan..

  • Err... Chlorine isn't orange. Just Saying.

  • WHY are there so many railroad accidents? There aren't that many plane crashes....

  • @xPinkStrifex Most of them are people fucking it up. Not that many accidents are caused by railroad. ...What caused those 6 deaths on the Amtrak train in Nebraska... some guy driving his truck. What caused the Norfolk Southern trains to collide and leak the Chlorine? Some dumbass trespasser that illegally moved a railroad switch. Also, planes are taken MUCH more serious... since when they crash, not just 1 or 2 can die... but usually they have death counts in the 100s.

  • @SantaFebuff Very true. Would everyone want this waste transported by truck? 90% more risk. This is a one sided view. Yes Nuclear waste is dangerous but it is even more dangerous spread up then in one spot.

  • @xPinkStrifex most of the accidents are trespassers or cars running the lights and gates

  • @xPinkStrifex Those accidents are small pops of the rails very uncommon for there to be a big accident. Planes, well,Although the planes are safe if a plane crashes it is very unlikely for passengers to survive.

  • Is anyone else appalled by the amount of nuclear waist we are creating in the first place... what is wrong with us?

  • @hollyacook21 I don't know. Don't even mention the land that's not even usable anymore due to nuclear weapon testing... The Russian Tasar bomb made an island a basic crater, and it's still inhabitable last I checked. Personally, to save money (if I had the money) I want a personal wind turbine for my house. :D

  • @SantaFebuff wind turbines and solar energy yeah...if only i could afford to set it up : )

  • @hollyacook21 "the amount of nuclear waist"

    "nuclear waist"

    "waist"

This is a perfect example of how the vast majority of anti-nuclear power activists are uneducated pansies. Maybe if you took the time to educate yourself first you might think differently. You might also learn to speak, or rather type, English a little better.

  • @fcguy7 LOL well at least the anti-nuclear power activists (which i am not an activist by the way i just think their are better ways) at least they aren't total dousch asses! I was referring to you but i betcha didn't catch that cus spelling has nothing to do with intelligence (this is you tube duh) I don't spell right when I'm on fb or texting either but when i send my reports I do.

  • @hollyacook21 Well, provided you're prepared to increase global emissions by burning millions of tons more coal to satisfy the need for energy, or fill every availible patch of free land with wind turbines, we can reduce that waste. But if we do that you might ask what's wrong with us for burning so much coal or ruin the view with all those wind turbines. So there'll be an issue either way, realy. :/

  • thnx for upload !! This is really intereresting stuf

  • WTF 3:12 i hear a i piched beep that is short then audio goes off what is happening

  • @Hyperlinex It is likely when this was recorded, the signal was interrupted.

  • nuclear canisters do not open on train crash, they have been tested.

    this doc is retarded

  • What total bullshit. Casks carrying radioactive materials don't explode. And the majority of accidents on railroads are very minor. They aren't even comparing apples to oranges, more like comparing apples to toasters.

  • Ever since the history channel started fear mongering, they've become less enjoyable to watch. Hate to break it to you folks, but nuclear waste travels unmarked on your roads every day.

  • they should have a separate train ahead of the other train to survey the area and make sure the coast is clear. They should both creep along at like 20mph instead of 50.

  • @TheEgg185 Its not worth of money. Otherwise you have to pay more as customer on end of the consumer line. Or roads will be used in place of such expensive train. Somebody calculated risk vs. costs vs insurrance. Believe it:)

BTW:In my country it often happens that metal collectors steal pieces of rails. Or even signal cables are stolen. This is more urgent danger for trains.

  • how do u transport nuclear material safely and reliably??? uhh let me think how bout the military hey yeah they hauled many nukes b4

  • Why not launch the stuff into space on a course withe the sun? The sun is nothing more than a huge reactor anyway

  • @richintalent - Cause that would be too expensive. They wouldn't make enough money back from selling the energy to cover the costs, so they'd have to raise energy costs/taxes.

  • @richintalent if you nuke the sun, the sun won't shine no mo'

  • @richintalent People go nuts over the thought of launching a few pounds of plutonium - to serve as a power supply for space probes. Good rocketing hundreds of tons of high level waste! (I'd worry a little bit too. Rockets do fail, and building a casket that is strong enough to survive re-entry would seem to be prohibitively heavy.)

  • why not send the waste to iraq, afghanistan, new zealand or france? fuck failed states !

  • @kagoshimadavid We should be dumping it into the ocean they are insoluble ceramic solids that will just get buried in ocean floor without hurting the environment

  • @Darkwizzrobe That is a good idea.

  • poor hookers and gamblers....

  • 2:39 so THATS what is in those funny looking cars

  • @mbta1000 Well They Are Called Coil.

  • Pause @ 2:48.Thats A NorthFolk Southern

  • You have that a bit mixed up:

    Norfolk Southern

It was the result of a merge between the Southern railroad and Norfolk & Western railroad.

  • @mrtrainboy019 thats a ns pulling csx cars.........

  • UPDATE:

After a long time of silence, Part 3 is under way!

  • Any idea on where Part 3 of this series is by chance??? THANK YOU for uploading this, as it is both important and very relevant that people know of, about, and are aware of this information!!! But....where is Part 3!?!??? Thanks Again.

  • If you research the nuclear power plants that are currently in operation, you will find the number of substandard conditions and checks, inconsistant reports and paperwork, as well as the number of problems that each has is far greater than what many know of or about. Research in the news topics on Yahoo under Nuclear Power And Nuclear Energy topics, read, and learn!! tt will shock and scare you!!! Both Yucca and "Glow Trains" can NOT be allowed!!! As for "Gov. Standards", don't get me started.

  • @Hawk3766 Its only anti nuclear activists propaganda. Nuclear power plants are very closely watched. Every piece of information during their function is logged. If plant security will drop glass of water this will be logged too. Reactor will be stopped automatically and this action will be investigated. And of course. Some of papers are missing from this dropped glass of woter investigation and this is very important to tell everyone from journalist point of view. Don't make me laugh;)

  • wow-everyone in Graniteville is fat

  • It impossible to understand how anyone can justify risking a nuclear disaster, no matter how much checking is done by the government, so long as there is at least some risk!

It does not matter how unlikily it is to happen, it is about the possibility!

    It is incomprehensable.

  • is this the last part?

  • No, my computer is retarded. It shuts down randomly, it won't run great... Mostly, it won't publish movies sometimes. It won't let me publish the 10 minute sections like I want too. I'm looking for another computer I can do my movies on and upload.

  • You need a MAC, seriously :D

  • hehe, I know. I'll stick with Windows Vista, because I honestly love Macs, I just love Windows more for the features, and the price. It's just Compaq, I've never had any good times with Compaq, but with Windows, yeah, every computer (Even Compaq) besides mine is sane. I only have 3 dollars to my name, I don't even think I can afford a light bulb with that! Do you have a Mac? Hows the Movie editor/maker? I heard it was a better than Windows Movie Maker, is this true?

  • I personally don't have a MAC, however I have trouble using my XP's movie maker when my vista laptop is U.S (unservicable), and a friend of mine who's now retired but he was in the IT businss and he worked with both windows and macintosh and he has always said that MAC's have a brillaint movie maker in comparison to windows. Also, a shop I know also prefers mac's to windows for so many reasons that hey converted thier shopping system to run with them :) So, I'd say their good, prices aren't :D

  • Yeah, I have Vista, I have found the XP Movie Maker at fault. I think Vista is just an improved version of XP Home Edition. Thanks for the information, I'll consider it. I'l likely end up with another Vista (Which I don't mind.), but I will always have this in the back of my mind with everything else! XD

  • No probs mate :) and "lol" xP

  • l have Windows Vista and works fine

  • Macs really suck

  • propane is not nuclear!!

  • Um, there where going through major rail disasters to show what regular substances, such as propane, do... This is only part of the entire episode, they are trying to show the viewer a vision on what simple things can do, and to imagine if a Nuclear 'Glow' Train derailed.

  • I'm sorry to hear that! No rush

  • Where is part 3?

  • You'll have to wait. I was thinking about making one shortly... Then our CPU crashed... It's under reconstruction, we just reset the system, and I lost the files... I'm going to have some work to do...

  • Ugh, those poor folks. Ive had the misfortune of breathing that stuff pure like that before, it hurts REAL bad in the lungs.
