Well, I assume that this is not just nervousness, but a habit. If you have to talk to someone you do not know very well, look where your hands are. I noticed I have "tics" like this as well. So, I guess it's pretty usual to do something with your hands and Dan does scratching.

It has nothing to do with HP or the media. I think what most girls like is his personality, he is a really nice person, there is no need to meet him in person to know that. He always has great details with his fans, like sending 'Thank you' letters to his fansites and always being humble. Yes, he is a normal boy, not a Hollywood full of himself actor, and that's why manyof us like him.
