  • Biggest challenge for me is holding the tail when it decides to do what it wants. Tail can be twitchy if ur not good at dialing it in. Holding it and giving throttle seems so difficult to me.

  • I own the Blade SR and I just dont see any other way to go from coaxe to cp without the SR. Maybe a simulator which they should have already used. Still totally different flying in person then a simulator imo. The tail does a ton of work to keep it stable and it gets hot ... Needs to cool every 5mins or so. Fine tuning can help this a ton. There are also tail mods that keep it cool for 10min flights that are free. Theres also a 80.00 belt driven tail upgrade for this heli someone made up.

  • I give you $50 dollars for this Heli...LOL.

  • @thoi70 Heh. He was being extra careful.

  • Victor can't fly..hahha..

  • That looks more like a Blade MSR.

  • @1ChrissyPage Haha... Maybe because its being flown indoors. The MSR is like 4 inches long and has a fixed pitch rotor.

  • @HeliDragon510 sorry i didnt get back to you on email and i just looked again and your right :)

  • is this an american Horizon hobby shop?

  • Respond to this video... No it is an independently owned hobby shop in Newark, CA.

  • You can already hear that tail motor whining.....and slight oscillation/wagging from that motor fighting all that torque.

  • @kray97 Yeah the tail motor runs hard and hot. THis heli is really not for hard 3D bud basic flight. The tail just blows out too easy.

  • I have a blade sr and I dont know how the hell you guys are making this thing fly this easy...I have mad hawk 300 i bought when I learned to fly a 4 ch co axial...And the mad hawk i didnt have much trouble to get..But this heli is harder to fly i think..So whats the secret??

  • @cowbells4u Its all about practice. Also having a good simulator is a very good investment. Check out Real Flight 5.5. You can find it at almost any local hobby store. Its just a matter of programming your brain to control your thumbs/fingers to move the gimbals on your transmitter in the correct directions depending on what the heli is doing and the direction is facing. Also fly with training gear and at least 2 feet off the ground to stay out of your prop wash. Good luck and keep at it! --J

  • @cowbells4u No secret, this guy has the experience to fly it. THIS IS NOT AS ADVERTISED FOR BEGINNERS! This guy is shop owner or employee with experience. I have a year and half in this hobby. I had a hard time with it. This heli is very unstable. If your a begginner stay away from this one.

  • @Leogetitright55 I strongly keep that in mind,...My blade sr is sitting in the box next to my AXE 400. The AXE well I dont even attempt to fly that thing yet..Im on the walkera UFLY now, and it's the perfect step up from the MADHAWK 300...

  • The SR certainly is not a perfect heli but it is a great platform to learn on. I would also suggest inventing in a simulator. Especially as a beginner, getting something like RealFlight or Phoenix, is a sound investment. Every time you crash a heli in the sim you SAVE MONEY. :D There is no secret to learning how to fly a model heli. Just do it as often as you can and take it slow. There are tons of great tutorial videos on YouTube on learning how to fly model heli's. Good luck!

  • This makes me SICK! I cant even fly mine with 2 hands its so uncontrollable.

  • Amazing. I could never lifted the Axe in such a small area.

  • I definitly think You a beginner Heli makes sence. When it gets borring You can upgrade or change but until that You might have a a good playtime :)

  • wow nice heli i am waiting for my dad to get me one !!

  • I need help.

I've got a blade mSR as my first heli and am getting fairly good at flying it. I want to get a Blade SR so I can start to fly outdoors but here is my problem.

Blade SR's in Australia cost $300 and Blade 400's cost $550.

However, Blade 400's come with a DX6i. DX6i's cost $250 here so no matter whether I get an SR + Dx6i or a 400 + Dx6i, it's the exact same cost to me.

Obviously the better heli is the 400 but will I be able to handle it having only flown an mSR?

  • @frankovich213 how good are you at at the MSR?

  • @pieman12345678987654 Ahh it's all good now, I ended up getting the Blade 400. However my first flight lasted about 3 seconds. lol

It seems I was unaware of the MSR's self stabilizing abilities and stupidly thought that the 400 would hover in the same manner. I took off on uneven ground and so the heli took off to one side, I didn't know what to do so I dropped the throttle and she crashed.

I've repaired her, put her away and bought G5 flight sim! No more flying til I'm a pro on the sim.

  • @frankovich213 good luck to you, im going the sr route. seems like my kind of helicopter.

  • @pieman12345678987654 You too, though I suggest you consider getting the 400. The fact that you get a Spektrum DX6i Radio included with it is what did it for me. I've bound my mSR to it and It is soooo smooth to fly now compared to the radio that comes with the mSR. Also something that turned me away from the SR is the fact that it has a tail motor. Ive been told to avoid CP heli's with tail motors. They can't keep up with the main rotors. The 400 is belt driven. Just some thoughts.

  • @frankovich213 yes, you are correct on the fact that tail motors cant keep up, and hearing good news form a fellow B400 owner really makes me want 1, Ive been flying the mSR for maybe a year now, it was my first, now I think its time to upgrade.

the fact that the SR+dx6i is the same as a B400 explains why the SR is so cheap compared to the B400. Ive been accually saving up for a SR with dx6i, but now I think I will get the B400. + some training gear.

  • @pieman12345678987654 Nice. You won't regret it and you should do fine if you've been flying the mSR for a year. I only had my mSR for about a month before I got the 400. I guess that's why I crashed. lol Yeah training gear is a must. I won't be flying mine again til I get some training gear.

    Ah well good luck.

A nice site I found that might be useful to you is repairblade400. com It fully explains with pictures how to repair anything on the 400.

Also RC groups has good mSR tips for the DX6i.

  • @frankovich213 Thanks for that site, I hope I wont need it, but sadly I know I will, Im going to watch some b400 videos now. probably fly the mSR too. HH has a good video that explains a good first first pilot 6i settings for the 400.

  • Man, I can't wait for mine to come in! I ordered one about a month ago but it keeps getting delayed so I got an mSR for the mean time. Though here in Australia we're heading in to the middle of winter so I'll probably have to keep flying the mSR indoors even when the SR does come! :(

  • awesome

  • Unfortunately he doesn't have a web site. But if you are local you can visit the shop in Newark CA.

  • What is te website to this hobby shop?

  • very nice flying !

  • It is not safe to fly the heli in such a tight place, surrounded by glass cases. Those tail motors often fail catastrophically after only a few minutes of flight.

  • Teaching people to fly slop stick is not good. When you go to a real rc helicopter you will crash!

  • @jauchiu Well most folks start with a lot of Expo aka slop. I did on a trex 450. This one is nice because you can start with a lot of expo and when you are ready can upgrade to a better radio and start dialing out the expo till you have almost none. I think there are just different ways to start for different folks is all. Thanks for the comment..

  • @HeliDragon510 Yes you are correct.

  • not sure what the huge issue of not having a bnf version is. Buy it and throw away the tx..lol

  • I think they don't want everyone to ditch the msr and then buy this bnf for 159

  • My guess is BNF will be available when all CP models are gone...just my guess. Does anyone know or recommend a good head speed,? Out of the box my SR seems to spin way up at a hoover. I have been out of helis for many years, I am an old shuttle zx and Xcell flier and love these new electrics.

  • @CrazyTxFisherman

not sure what you mean by "CP models are gone" the SR is a CP heli, thats the selling point of it..lol as far as the head speed, you sound like a total newbie so I wouldnt try changing it (not that you can with the stock tx anyway) higher is better/more stable anyway.

  • @nighthawk0077 I am not a newbie, but if calling me that makes you feel good - so be it. My question about headspeed is legite, you did not help at all with your lack of answer. I am thinking around 2400 rpm is a good target. Higher is not always better, I have seen many blades slung with that worthless approach and no thanks for the useless response nighthawk.

  • @CrazyTxFisherman

Just a little defensive aren't we? I meant no insult, just calling as I see it, if im wrong and you are not a heli newbie then I apologize. As far as headspeed, again I would suggest you leave it stock, especially just starting out with it.

fyi: good luck with your "small linkage adjustment" lol

  • @CrazyTxFisherman You are absolutely a newbie dude haha.. if you fly a MCX and CX 2? you're about as newbie as they come.. and you put training gear on a blade SR? hahaha yeah you're about as noob as u can get... which is not a problem everybody's there at one time.. but to be calling out people and saying you're NOT is retarded

  • @nighthawk0077 FYI - a small linkage adjustment is all that is need to change the head speed, we all do not need 6i's to setup a heli.

  • No BNF, No buy.

  • wow i love that thing! haha beginner huh? damn money GET BACK IN MY WALLET!!!! NOW!!!

  • Def not for the beginner, I think due to small size. Even after brushing up on my flying with sims, mCX and CX2 I still put training gear on mine, the gear is narrow, like the old shuttles, I wold recommend attaching wider gear for more stability, especially when landing on grass or rough terrain.

  • they say they arent gonna make a bnf bc they dont want to be inundated with calls on how to set up another controller with the same settings as the stock tx, btw great flying my 1st flight didnt go quite as well unfortunatly, lol

  • Thats a bummer. Well it still looks like a winner for the beginner audience. Thanks for the info.

  • Thanks for the comments Carlos. I am hoping that eventually a Bind N Fly version will come out. If it does I might get one. Victor is cool. He would have actually let me fly it but it was rainy outside and he didn't want to risk me flying it in his store. Now that this little heli is getting out into the wild videos if it are popping up all over youtube.
