Good video. Thanks for uploading. We raise heritage turkeys and have a major problem with fox raiding the nests. Caught a couple with box traps and now are setting some leg traps.
I like all of the negative comments about my set.... I made it to help out people that have little or zero trapping experience...... I came into trapping a few years ago and could not find an informative detailed set instructional anywhere on youtube, so I made one. Just here to help and I get trash talked by all of you guys/gals. Ridiculous......
@KillbilliesOutdoors I have never trapped but I am looking to start this year. How do you know where to set your traps. Do you go off of sign or the area?
This Video is too funny.......first of all gloves were only uesed to keep hands clean not to keep his sent off the trap seeing he handled that bear handed......second off all this video is not how real trappers do things and handle their traps and trapping tools.........but on the other hand it may win some money on Ameria's funniest home video's
Oh and another tip I personally would not blend in my dirthole that much. Leave the freshly sifted dirt exposed and add some guiding. You could have used the clumps of dirt you through from your sifter as guiding along the sides to funnel them to your pan. Additionally you need some type of backing behind ur dirthole to stop them from coming in from the back of your set. This could be clumped dirt, a rock, or branch etc. Guiding and backing are a must if you want to miss less critters Good luck
@TJC0607 That is true, I always use backing, but not guiding. I make sure my bait is back in the hole and the fox will trap on my pan while he working my set. Never misses.
Good video but here are a few tips that might help you out.
1. Like it has been said keep your rubber gloves on at all times except while luring. These gloves should be boiled along with your other things (traps, stakes, hammers etc.)
2. I am pretty sure you used the same screw driver to apply lure that you did to shove the wax paper around the trap. Don't do this because the smell will stay and get around ur trap area no matter if you push it down in the dirt or not.
@mtor666 Better is to use gloves, rubber glover are the best, easy to clean. The human scent will be gone but it needs time, and an animal can smell how long ago a human was there. He will catch an animal, the set was good.
hey i live about 10 miles away from a creek or pond and i was wondering can i catch coon still?

If you are not worried about freeze ups should you still use the wax paper on top of the trap surface (wax paper covering the trigger)?
