yeah I agree, there isn't any rational arguement anymore. it's like legitimate debate has been outlawed in this country, all that matters is who has the money and the power, not who speaks the truth. it's seems to have become possible to obfuscate the real truth with money and power and convince everyone that the photonegative of the truth is the actual truth. I'd love to argue and debate with certain people, but they would never allow it because they know they won't have a good rebuttal.

Wow, this is so interesting, Maher & Maddox r coming up with some very good points. the problem with the Public is that it is flickled and not interested in thinking, a theory goes is that's the way the ones in power want us to be, so they can pass whatever legislation they want to become richer.

Alright, I am a Bill Maher fan, but I dislike his assertion that the public are all idiots. I agree, most of them probably are, but I don't like the Machiavellian nature of that. So many people are willfully ignorant in this country, but can't we do something about that? Can we try to change the attitude and the culture about intelligence in this country instead of writing the public off as hopelessly stupid? I am a member of the public, and I think for myself and question authority.

I am with you on you point about enjoying Mr. Maher. I don't like the idea of "the public is too stupid to be ___."

But, Gov. Palin was nominated as a SERIOUS and VIABLE candidate to the Vice Presidency of the United States of America under a man who is "older" and already had cancer, TWICE!! And 46%(ish) of the people that voted thought that was the best option for America.

I don't want to entertain the "too stupid" thought...but I think there is, at least, a point to be made.

Bill Maher is SO SPOT ON. I have never heard an American be so blunt and honest about American politics and American voters.

The way he describes America is EXACTLY what it is perceived like in Europe.

Most Americans don't seem to know this.

In describing increasing awareness, the first level is called You don't know you don't know. This mind state can appear like stupidity, but it's not. (er, I mean ain't)

A person is just unaware.

Its not until the second level of awareness - You know you don't know - that a person can feel stupid.

Firstly, can't you find an apostrophe on your keyboard? Secondly, it's not a sentence. Lastly, in this day and age there is no problem in using abbreviations which still work phonetically, the K and W are simply non-essential in coveying the point of the statement.
