  • what meter is it? and what key is it in? :)

  • @TheMatthewwheeler The key changes ALOT during the piece.

  • Hi, great performance. Thanks for sharing.

I'm working on guitar looping and i would like to know what kind of equipment lets you change the pitch of the recorded pattern (as you start using the distortion) whenever you want. Thanks

  • @madekri This isn't looping - It's an entire piece recorded a number of times to build up layers with a final layer simply added on top live, not a loop. The pitch change you hear is in fact a key change.

  • @Phobia017 are u doing this for gcse because i am and i'm not a fan of it but it is very skillful.

  • @Phobia017 who cares, it's still crap!! lol. Now I know where Brian Eno got that horrible idea from and bobby fripp as well.

  • GCSE music for the win :D

  • my exam in two days> X_x

  • @applsaucemcgee he's pre recorded it he's just playing all the separate parts in turn before they actually come in in the piece

  • no hes just playing with a pre recorded track

  • i dont get it. is he using a loop station?

  • I did my exam last year, it's piss easy! :D

  • sounds a lot like Mike Oldfield - who wrote what first?

  • @winstonthecat

actually, on second thoughts, and listening to classical versions, there's a lot more going here, so no, not really Mike Oldfield. What would be interesting would be to hear his electric version of this, given his distinct guitar playing style. As he can't read music, may be difficult.

  • being good and listening to all of the gcse pieces :L

  • from Music, woodlands school, 14:50pm computer 5 next to george

  • Nick Richardson your a a goon

  • hi george

  • @MURCLE9427 oh hai -_-

  • Just started this for gcse!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • i like this version better than the album version! congratulations!

  • this is what i love. endless repetition of beautiful sounds. just like our ancestors danced around the fire repeating their shouts endlessly til ecstasy or complete calm. so close to the soul. timeless.

  • Excellent !!!

  • he looks like frank gambale :D

    nice job man!

  • Amazing.

  • i bet 50% of the people here listening are doing a setwork for gcse on it :L

  • @TheSquidKiller Me :D

  • @TheSquidKiller Bitch please this is a setwork for my degree

  • @TheSquidKiller yeah i am haha

  • @TheSquidKiller or just realy high

  • @TheSquidKiller By the comments it seems you're right. :D Personally I'm just someone who loves music. It's good to see people doing GCSEs are being directed to something this beautiful, though. Shows what can be done with an electric guitar.

  • on bitesize it says that this leaves you wondering what th key at the end of the piece is who actually wonders that

  • @gabe25591

Yep...haha Bon jovi...we had lots of awesome stuff for our music set works!!

  • Excellent! Bravo! Thank you for posting this. Very beautiful piece, nicely done. Congratulations.

  • Journey ......

  • I simply ADORE it when the bass guitars come in and when the strumming starts and when the key changes! Best set work...definitely

  • @lancejackchaza the score can be purchased for around $45 I think.

dude obviously nailed the performance, but i'n not really a fan of the different effects or of adding vibrato. i don't think it's stylistically appropriate to this genre in general, or to reich's music specifically.

  • Con2105 i got my exam on tuesday as well lol

  • Studied and hopefully will get me an A-B in the exam on tuesday!!

  • @Con2105 ?!?! You study Reich in your music exams?! I had to study fuckin' Bon Jovi! You lucky bastards.

  • didnt realise there was a live audience till they started clapping l0l

  • the key change at 2:24 is sublime!

  • The best performance I've seen of this on youtube, I think! Guitar effects are a great touch too. I'll have to try those out myself

  • The man gets to dancin', for sure!

  • holy shit...you killed it bro.

  • bro that was FANTASTIC. as someone who went to UNT, I can definitely appreciate this

  • WOW! Well done! I'm not a guitarist, but I'm a HUGE Reich fan, and love this particular piece. Excellent performance. You clearly understand the complexity and spirit of this piece. Nice effects on the guitar too!

  • where did you get the tabs for this, it sounds awsome

  • yeah but they all seem to be slightly different :/ couldn't find the fast done properly for some reason

  • @xxAbixx1809 there are two fast movements. That might be your problem...

  • thankyou :D took me ages to find this :L

  • @xxAbixx1809 seriously? electric counterpoint is everywhere.
