How about submerging it in a swimming pool for 2 hours and see if it still works, AND is safe to go swimming in the pool while the TV is in it, so you can watch underwater with your goggles on :)

i'd never trust "waterproof" when it's constantly hooked up to a power outlet.
what if the cord is slightly torn? epic failure, that's what.
