can anyone help me? i have been training my staryu against only seakings and goldeens however when it levels up, it recieves about +2 for each stat including sp atack. why does this happen? if goldeen only gives sp atck evs, then why do i receive credit in each stat?

@Ddanx3 only if your pokemon has a virus you get from battling wild pokemon called pokerus when you take it you a center to heal the nurse will tell you about it and you have to reset ev's eating certain berry's

@Nickynick97 Let's see, Knowing Feraligatr Naturally has a high attack, you could max out the attack with a nature such as Lonely (-Def) Brave (-Speed) or Naughty (-SP Def). Or, If you are looking to try and balance its sp attack and regular attack, you go for a nature to raise its sp attack since it is naturally lower than its regular attack, Mild (-def) Quiet (-speed) or Rash (-sp def). Its up to you to decide what stat should be lower in return for the gain.
when your pokemon is infected with pokerus it has 48 horurs then the mark is gone. some cases your pokemon will have a dot next to its name or status. when the mark is gone it does not mean it doesn't get x2 ev. it still gets it, it just means it cant infect other pokemons and cant be infected wit pokerus again. it still gets the x2 ev

@legendsnake24 you can battle any pokemon, but if you want for example only atk evs, then you need to battle pokemon that only give atk evs and it doesn't matter if it's a different one as long as it gives the evs you want :)

Heyyy waitwaitwait. Let me see if im right. So I think you should gain 1-3 stats per level NORMALLY. But at higher levels you can gain more. Then ill try to help you. If you max out your EVs it doesn't mean you will get all the SP at once. You will definitely get it when you reach lvl 100. And once you max your EVs, you do not have to worry about what pokemon to fight as no matter what your evs doesn't increase in the wrong stat. Also EXP share gives the full EVs as well. Alright I've been looking into this and i have a few quick questions anyone can answer if you know.
1. I get the whole 4 ev points = 1 stat point and what not so lets say for example i fight 4 basuclins that means i get the 4 speed EV points. can i go fight something else to make him level or does it have to be a basculin when it levels?
2. Can you gain more then one Extra stat at a time or can you only gain 1 more extra then normal?
uisng exp share will not cut the ev's your pokemon gained in half. if i'm correct, just as long as the pokemon are getting the exp from the felled pokemon, it will also gain its evs. but, for safe keeping, i just send it out into battle, then switch out immediately and kill with a higher level (currently ev raising a team).
I need help with this Ev training. How do you train lvl 1 pokemon? While using the exp. share, does it share half the Ev's it gets? So if the pokemon you want to EV train has pokerus, but is level one so it is gonna die, does it get more EV's?

@AlexisVera96 Yeah any pokemon effected with pokerus keeps gaining its effects even if it heals from it, but it cant spread the effect to other party members anymore.

@fellowmercenary every bidoof gives one ev without multipliers.. it takes 4 evs to grow one point in a stat......this is over the course of the 99 lvls on your way to 100
umm.. i have pokerus and macho brace on my victini but it took about 4-8 litwicks to just get 1 stat point? my sp att is neutral. my victini is lvl 30. besiddes that, i only got around 4 stat point gain and i already got over 100 evs = i was not able to use my vitamins on sp att. i did not invest on ANY other stats
@TheShadowzpk Pokemon Black and White is different. it adds the stats after every 4 battles whether you level up or not. so if u were to battle 1 litwick and check the stats after the battle, it would show an increase

I had the power item for attack on, and gave it 10 proteins, and the pokemon I was battling gave 3 evs each, 3+4=7 so do the math 255 divided by 7 equals 37, I killed 37 pokemon and only got a +27 on levelup? Someone help me, btw my pokemon was lvl70.

@CirculatorySurgeon This way you can control the EV spread, giving you a better chance of winning in competitive battling. If you are just playing in-game, there is really no point to doing this.
So if I use vitamins on one pokemon (any) I put give 10 Carbos equeling out 100 EVS, so what happens then when I level. I just get confused on the max 510. Not sure if you can answer this.
@hulkluvstospooge the first part youre right... if you train an electivire(example) you can train on attack and speed... to do this get a ditto with the characteristic like to trash about and if you already have any of the electivire evolution with alert to sounds characteristic breed both of them 'til you get 31 IV's on both speed and attack... if you doubt it has 31IV's on both check on the battle in the battle frontier.... now just got to kill staravia for speed and another for attack......
its quite easy, i were ev training my lucario against some litwicks and they give off sp atk ev's so i started at 45 and in like 6 battles i grew in sp atk 49 :) easy as that.
Just finished ev training my Glaceon's special attack. Got it to 392. Not 394 like I wished but still pretty damn close. Now its to ev train my Garchomp.
my mate just happened to catch his Groudon (pokemon ruby) with a nature that boosts attack. Although he didnt Ev train it, it had 420 attack. if he did Ev train it it would've had 438 atttack.
@SiiKxKiiLLer In short terms, EV means effort values, when you kill... err you faint a poke you get 1, 2 or 3 EVpoints depending on the fainted poke in a certain stat (HP, atk,etc.), every 4 EVpoints you gather, you increase your poke's stat 1 point (again depending on what you fainted also this increase is only seen at lv.100).
Ex: you faint a starly you get 1EVpoint in speed, you faint 4 starlies you get 1 point in speed, etc.

@zerohorus and, you can only have 510 total EVs, unless it's changed from d/p/pt since then, but with black/white right now, each pokemon can only gain up to 510 total ev's. so, you refer to the list of pokemon that give whatever ev, slap on pokerus (if you saved a few pokemon with it to infect your desired trainees), slap on a power item for the ev you wish to train, and calculate the number of times you'll need to battle the certain pokemon with the certain ev, judging by how many you willearn
Those EV training spots are good but it wont work if your pokes are very low leveled. For speed you can also go for Starly (+1 Speed EV) in the same route as Bidoof. And as for attack, you can battle Shinx in the route above Sandgem. Battle Geodude in oreburgh gate for defense,
I've fairly new to organized Ev training. I've been using the battle method with a Macho Brace. I made sure that my pokemon had both the highest nature and highest behavior in Special Defense. I also made sure that I chose a pokemon. That had both high natural Special Defense and could learn the move Calm Mind.
I've been training against these Blue and Red Octopus Pokemon in Black and While. Though, the Ev points aren't adding up to 4 Ev's = 1 extra point. They are adding up to less.
I have pokemon white and my scalier has been killing a lot of stunk fish for jp but very time it's leveled 3 it's only gotten 3 hp very time I check on serbi or whatever it's called and stunk fish gives 2 hp ev and I've seen sp atk going up by 2 now wiered
@buddystubs100 the maximum stat bonus a pkmn can get from evs is 62 (hence the 255 evs)
The amount of stat increases you get is regulated amongst the levels. say youre eve training somone at lvl 1. your guy can gain all 255 evs in that stat you wanted but you wont get the full 62 points. im not sure how its split amongst the levels but i do know this, if you have all 255 evs in the stat, the stats will be 31 points higher at level 50, by lvl 100 you will have all 62 points
@buddystubs100 i know your problem at first i was ev training hp on audinos but i found out your evs dont increase your stats when you lvl its after you kill a pokemon you get the evs then if u have 4 your stat goes up without leveling up it goes up by itself check after battles hope i helped

@123parkman123 whenever you want. you just cant use them once you've maxed out your evs. each one gives your pokemon 10 (i believe) evs. im not sure the exact number, but im pretty sure that it's 10.
@SemiAquaticRhino | Yes its 10 EVs. They are helpful if you start giving your pokemon 10 of one kind of vitamins (10 is the limit, that makes 100 EVs) so then you just have to train them in 152 more EVs
Help people, help! I dont know what the heck I'm doing wrong but ohkay, this is the deal. I have a Milotic, Calm Nature, Somewhat vain IV. Therefore, I'm basically on the point where I wanna max out my Sp.Def. I have PokeRus, Macho Brace, Power Band. I'm fighting Meganiums which give 1+Def and 2+Sp.Def, (Thank you Lord for Action Replay). I finally get to LV100 and its Sp.Def is only 382! Let me say that again, 382! It was off by 1 point! Why? Someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. :(
I'm EV training in Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Gold, my magikarp(lv 42) in pokemon yellow fought pidgeys and rattatas. I fought a combined total of 10 that equals 10 evs. If I go and fight the elite four will that throw off my EV training of speed or can I now just level up my Magikarp to lv 43 and get theEV speeds?
the trainer has 5 bidoof so thats 5 Hp Evs plus 4 because of the power item equals 9 then i double it since my pokemon is infected with PKRS equals 18. So after each battle my poke will earn 18 EVS right?

@jee87 You can reset EVs with berries you have to just know what berries reset what. a Golduck gives 2 spec att.

i was training a gible at level 23 with the power bracer and did 3 battles and he leveld up (i gained 12 ev attack points)
but it showed only plus 2 attack points in the end.
shouldn't have he gained at least 3 attack points?

@fellowmercenary every bidoof gives one ev without multipliers.. it takes 4 evs to grow one point in a stat......this is over the course of the 99 lvls on your way to 100

umm.. i have pokerus and macho brace on my victini but it took about 4-8 litwicks to just get 1 stat point? my sp att is neutral. my victini is lvl 30. besiddes that, i only got around 4 stat point gain and i already got over 100 evs = i was not able to use my vitamins on sp att. i did not invest on ANY other stats

@TheShadowzpk Pokemon Black and White is different. it adds the stats after every 4 battles whether you level up or not. so if u were to battle 1 litwick and check the stats after the battle, it would show an increase

I had the power item for attack on, and gave it 10 proteins, and the pokemon I was battling gave 3 evs each, 3+4=7 so do the math 255 divided by 7 equals 37, I killed 37 pokemon and only got a +27 on levelup? Someone help me, btw my pokemon was lvl70.

@CirculatorySurgeon This way you can control the EV spread, giving you a better chance of winning in competitive battling. If you are just playing in-game, there is really no point to doing this.

So if I use vitamins on one pokemon (any) I put give 10 Carbos equeling out 100 EVS, so what happens then when I level. I just get confused on the max 510. Not sure if you can answer this.

@hulkluvstospooge the first part youre right... if you train an electivire(example) you can train on attack and speed... to do this get a ditto with the characteristic like to trash about and if you already have any of the electivire evolution with alert to sounds characteristic breed both of them 'til you get 31 IV's on both speed and attack... if you doubt it has 31IV's on both check on the battle in the battle frontier.... now just got to kill staravia for speed and another for attack......

its quite easy, i were ev training my lucario against some litwicks and they give off sp atk ev's so i started at 45 and in like 6 battles i grew in sp atk 49 :) easy as that.

my mate just happened to catch his Groudon (pokemon ruby) with a nature that boosts attack. Although he didnt Ev train it, it had 420 attack. if he did Ev train it it would've had 438 atttack.

@SiiKxKiiLLer In short terms, EV means effort values, when you kill... err you faint a poke you get 1, 2 or 3 EVpoints depending on the fainted poke in a certain stat (HP, atk,etc.), every 4 EVpoints you gather, you increase your poke's stat 1 point (again depending on what you fainted also this increase is only seen at lv.100).
Ex: you faint a starly you get 1EVpoint in speed, you faint 4 starlies you get 1 point in speed, etc.

@zerohorus and, you can only have 510 total EVs, unless it's changed from d/p/pt since then, but with black/white right now, each pokemon can only gain up to 510 total ev's. so, you refer to the list of pokemon that give whatever ev, slap on pokerus (if you saved a few pokemon with it to infect your desired trainees), slap on a power item for the ev you wish to train, and calculate the number of times you'll need to battle the certain pokemon with the certain ev, judging by how many you willearn

Those EV training spots are good but it wont work if your pokes are very low leveled. For speed you can also go for Starly (+1 Speed EV) in the same route as Bidoof. And as for attack, you can battle Shinx in the route above Sandgem. Battle Geodude in oreburgh gate for defense,

I've fairly new to organized Ev training. I've been using the battle method with a Macho Brace. I made sure that my pokemon had both the highest nature and highest behavior in Special Defense. I also made sure that I chose a pokemon. That had both high natural Special Defense and could learn the move Calm Mind.
I've been training against these Blue and Red Octopus Pokemon in Black and While. Though, the Ev points aren't adding up to 4 Ev's = 1 extra point. They are adding up to less.

I have pokemon white and my scalier has been killing a lot of stunk fish for jp but very time it's leveled 3 it's only gotten 3 hp very time I check on serbi or whatever it's called and stunk fish gives 2 hp ev and I've seen sp atk going up by 2 now wiered

@buddystubs100 the maximum stat bonus a pkmn can get from evs is 62 (hence the 255 evs)
The amount of stat increases you get is regulated amongst the levels. say youre eve training somone at lvl 1. your guy can gain all 255 evs in that stat you wanted but you wont get the full 62 points. im not sure how its split amongst the levels but i do know this, if you have all 255 evs in the stat, the stats will be 31 points higher at level 50, by lvl 100 you will have all 62 points

@buddystubs100 i know your problem at first i was ev training hp on audinos but i found out your evs dont increase your stats when you lvl its after you kill a pokemon you get the evs then if u have 4 your stat goes up without leveling up it goes up by itself check after battles hope i helped

@123parkman123 whenever you want. you just cant use them once you've maxed out your evs. each one gives your pokemon 10 (i believe) evs. im not sure the exact number, but im pretty sure that it's 10.

@SemiAquaticRhino | Yes its 10 EVs. They are helpful if you start giving your pokemon 10 of one kind of vitamins (10 is the limit, that makes 100 EVs) so then you just have to train them in 152 more EVs

Help people, help! I dont know what the heck I'm doing wrong but ohkay, this is the deal. I have a Milotic, Calm Nature, Somewhat vain IV. Therefore, I'm basically on the point where I wanna max out my Sp.Def. I have PokeRus, Macho Brace, Power Band. I'm fighting Meganiums which give 1+Def and 2+Sp.Def, (Thank you Lord for Action Replay). I finally get to LV100 and its Sp.Def is only 382! Let me say that again, 382! It was off by 1 point! Why? Someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. :(

I'm EV training in Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Gold, my magikarp(lv 42) in pokemon yellow fought pidgeys and rattatas. I fought a combined total of 10 that equals 10 evs. If I go and fight the elite four will that throw off my EV training of speed or can I now just level up my Magikarp to lv 43 and get theEV speeds?

the trainer has 5 bidoof so thats 5 Hp Evs plus 4 because of the power item equals 9 then i double it since my pokemon is infected with PKRS equals 18. So after each battle my poke will earn 18 EVS right?
