Amazingly simple instructions. I can see this being used on foundations that are 15 years plus old with no development occuring in the immediate surrounding areas. If a new home or in an area of development consult an engineer for shifting foundation issues as the crack may indicate larger forces at work. Great job!
Horizontal cracks are often caused by structural issues and you should consult a structural engineer first if there are other measures needed as well. In any case, you will have to stop or prevent water seepage through the crack. Crack injection does that. The standard kit fills the crack with expanding urethane foam, allowing for some natural movement of the concrete. If the crack is dry inside, injecting epoxy will give it structural strength.
I am curious whether this material has any elasticity. We are considering buying a home that has some foundation cracks from settling and heaving of heavy clay soil around the house. This look like a good process, but it will only work if the material is a tad flexible.
Agreed. This kit uses two-component polyurethane foam which has flexibility, unlike epoxy. We have both injection materials available but in most cases use polyurethane. There is a comparison of epoxy and polyurethane on the webpage.
This is the "Easy-Peel" version of the D-I-Y Crack Injection Kit.

How wide is the widest a crack can be to fix with this method?
roblindsay22 5 months ago
@roblindsay22
Usually up to 1/2". (Wider cracks would need special techniques.)

This process was used on a foundation in a house I owned. A crack that previously leaked during most rain storms never leaked again.

I thought a house was worthless when it has a cracked foundation. Is this not the case?

winter is coming, would it be too cold to apply? is there a specific temperature when this should be applied?
andybmuentes 2 years ago
The temperature inside the basement and of the concrete even in winter is not a problem.
The ground temperature is typically above 50°F, which is fine.

Here is a tip. Instead of using a paper plate to mix the surface seal I use scrap sections of vinyl flooring cut into 10" squares.
