well blow me - I've been wondering how to play this for years .. i'm crap at working out chords from ear.. so, thanks - my favorite song off "Selling England"
@IctioPar The first bit is a standard D (xx0232), then an F#m (xx0675), G (xxx433) and... I think the last is a G, but its (xx0787), then (xx0775). Repeat, going up the octave to end it (xxx-14-15-14).
The rest is simple variations on a picking pattern. I'm terrible at figuring out music by ear and I got this far. Good luck :)
good job !! I've played this song many times, and I play the third chord of the intro different. Consider the second chord (after D maj) and move one tone below. It sounds better, doesn't it?
Actually I've decided Steve Hackett era is how I draw the line between progressive Genesis and pop-Genesis. You don't want to leave out Trick of the Tail do you?
I've never thought of that....you're kinda right: i like Trick of the tail too...and even wind and wuthering! And after his departure Albums started sounding like shit but... you leave out Trespass! Which is simply beautiful! Dontcha think?
I absolutely agree. Trespass has some of my favorite Genesis songs: Visions of Angels" "Stagnation," in fact the whole thing. It is so good I don't realize Hackett was not with the band. I have no idea what the first album that came before this one sounds like. I hear its a different sound and that makes Trespass the first progressive Genesis album. I also love Wind and Wuthering.
That´s my favorite part of the song (particularly the lyrics "I followed a sign - it said beautiful chest. It led to a lady who showed me her best..."), good job.
Very impressive. Was this played by Steve Hackett or Mike Rutherford? Is it standard tuning? Did you also arrange this or did you pick up the music from some other source?
Thank you Brian. It's played by Mike on a 12-string with standard tuning. This is what I could figure out by listening to the "Selling England by the Pound" album.
Very Nice! You, Troublecleff, and cop2cop's videos are the only ones I watch all the way through. Great stuff. I want too see more collaboration between you all!
i gave a thumbs up to the guy that said "if i could subscribe twice i would". Anyhow, great to hear. Nicely worked out. Excellent. It sounds like the real thing, man!
Se agradece tu apoyo Berni. Respecto a lo de la mala época quizás me haya expresado mal, estoy bien solo que no he encontrado el momento adecuado para ponerme a grabar. Gracias de todas formas amiguito ;^)
As a matter of fact I'm not being so restless of a player lately but I do always like to learn new things on guitar. Gracias por tu comentario Martín.
