  • well blow me - I've been wondering how to play this for years .. i'm crap at working out chords from ear.. so, thanks - my favorite song off "Selling England"

  • Along the forest road....

  • Beautiful job!

  • I know you said you didn't have tabs, but do you happen to know the chord names?

If so, that would be awesome.

    Btw...

Great job on this amazing song!

  • Fantastic stuff and beautifully played!

  • Very beautiful.

  • Brilliant! I've always wanted to play this section and now I can! Thank you.

  • Great!!! Good job man!

    Congratulations!

    Greetings from Brazil!

  • How come I never heard this song before?? escaped me somehow. Great stuff.

  • @key2kingdom

Thanks Steve, never heard the "Selling England" album? Don't stay that way for long!

  • Hello. The song is awesome, and you play this excellent. Question. : Could you show me the tab for what you are playing please?. Great music!

  • @IctioPar

I'm sorry but I have no tab.

  • @IctioPar The first bit is a standard D (xx0232), then an F#m (xx0675), G (xxx433) and... I think the last is a G, but its (xx0787), then (xx0775). Repeat, going up the octave to end it (xxx-14-15-14).

The rest is simple variations on a picking pattern. I'm terrible at figuring out music by ear and I got this far. Good luck :)

  • oh, so beautyful

  • wow, great job!

  • truely amazing - i adore this section of 'Epping Forest' - i just had to sub you.

  • @JeffBend

    Thanks for the sub, Jeff.

  • LOL I LIVE IN EPPING !! AND I LIKE GOING ON WALKS WITH MY DOG IN EPPING FOREST!!!! LOL!!!

  • Hi,

good job !! I've played this song many times, and I play the third chord of the intro different. Consider the second chord (after D maj) and move one tone below. It sounds better, doesn't it?

  • Thanks

  • No sòlo tocàs bien sino que se expresa el sentimiento. Yo soy violero y se lo que te digo. Te felicito

  • Love it

  • Really great job!! You've made me a subscriber with this one.

  • Thanks for subscribing foleyguy!

  • and the judge said, you are a robbing hood!

  • increible realmente genial !!!! muchas gracias por subir el videoª!

  • love 12-strings guitars!! I play the bass..

  • 12 strings....jesus it is like a forest of beautiful sound.

  • who disagree with me???

    GENESIS RULE!!!!!!

    (Peter Gabriel era of course)

  • Actually I've decided Steve Hackett era is how I draw the line between progressive Genesis and pop-Genesis. You don't want to leave out Trick of the Tail do you?

  • I've never thought of that....you're kinda right: i like Trick of the tail too...and even wind and wuthering! And after his departure Albums started sounding like shit but... you leave out Trespass! Which is simply beautiful! Dontcha think?

  • I absolutely agree. Trespass has some of my favorite Genesis songs: Visions of Angels" "Stagnation," in fact the whole thing. It is so good I don't realize Hackett was not with the band. I have no idea what the first album that came before this one sounds like. I hear its a different sound and that makes Trespass the first progressive Genesis album. I also love Wind and Wuthering.

    YES touring this summer 2010

  • where did you learn? :)

  • Interesting chords.

  • Thats Genesis...

  • Congratulations!!!! This is my favorite song of Genesis!!!

  • Beautiful - love the sound of a 12 string acoustic.

  • Well played!!

  • Just fantastic! Lovely sounding guitar as well.

  • really great! is that in normal tuning?

  • It's normal tuning, just make sure you tune your guitar correctly :)

  • That´s my favorite part of the song (particularly the lyrics "I followed a sign - it said beautiful chest. It led to a lady who showed me her best..."), good job.

  • That's a very interesting part indeed.

  • wow! this 12 string realy sounds great!!

  • I still listen to this one, trouble is I can never resist singing along with it! Great job:-)

  • Neither can I. Thanks! "It all began when I went on a tour hoping to find some furniture..."

  • What kind of 12 string is that? It/you sound great!

  • Very good version. Is it difficult to play a 12-string acoustic guitar?

  • Excellent!

I am a huge Genesis fan (especially the early years...Selling England, Foxtrot, etc)

    Such beauitiful work, man!

    Peace~

  • Awesome playing man! Such an amazing song! Dont suppose you'd be able to tab that out would you?

  • Great guitar playing for a fantastic piece. Five stars and favourite!! Waiting for "the musical box"......

  • Very impressive. Was this played by Steve Hackett or Mike Rutherford? Is it standard tuning? Did you also arrange this or did you pick up the music from some other source?

  • Thank you Brian. It's played by Mike on a 12-string with standard tuning. This is what I could figure out by listening to the "Selling England by the Pound" album.

  • Very Nice! You, Troublecleff, and cop2cop's videos are the only ones I watch all the way through. Great stuff. I want too see more collaboration between you all!

  • I like to subscribe twice to your videos too Troublecleff!

  • i gave a thumbs up to the guy that said "if i could subscribe twice i would". Anyhow, great to hear. Nicely worked out. Excellent. It sounds like the real thing, man!

  • Fantastic!

  • Just listening again, if I could subscribe twice I would! And if anyone hasn't heard your your Firth of the Fifth yet they should.

    (Hey I'm a poet ;-)

  • Nice piece of poetry there man :D

  • Has cambiado la guitarra 12 cuerdas? Otra me parece

  • It's the same new guitar that appears on my previous video.

  • Very, very accurate... and the ending sent me rolling to the floor!!! :D

    keep them coming!

  • :D Thanks guyeylon.

  • You really captured that guitar sound so well! Nice work on the twelve string.

  • I love early Genesis, you play very well and it was wonderful to listen to... Nice job!

  • you are a restless player!!! you always keep on learning songs! wonderful! well done, man!

  • As a matter of fact I'm not being so restless of a player lately but I do always like to learn new things on guitar. Gracias por tu comentario Martín.

  • His name came, I understood, when the judge said...YOU ARE A RRRRRROBIN..HOOD!!!!!!!

  • "It was Love, Peace & Truth Incorporated for all who seek" :D

  • Awesome! Just awesome! I've always loved that song. Is that standard tuning? Great job!!!!! Really! Wonderful! (Have I said enough??? :) )

  • hehehe Thanks Chris. It´s standard tuning indeed.

  • Really well done. It's been a long time man.

  • So here I am once more... Thank you Castroph!
