  • how is the filtering on this RD? Does it get a lot of false alerts?

  • why don't you mount the windshield radar, up high? where you could get better range possibly. eitheir way it was a good example on how strong they all are. for daily driving.

  • @hateRDDBusted

i prefer mounting low and keeping the detector in my direct line of sight.

  • Would you reccomend this one as one to buy?

  • the top-of-the-line Whistlers are great if you are on a tight budget.

  • lol go to 2:51 one of the suction cup comes lose on the whistler

  • whistler still need to work on those suctions caps haha

  • first time it happened in all the years. i think the windshield was more at fault or my mounting as I juggled mounting it will driving (and filming).

  • thats why youmount the radar high near the top of the windshiel for better signal

check out my video 8500X50 red escort

  • that is some good fucken long range detection how far away was that from the first alert on the remote mounted detector

  • I Want the 78SE but amazon still not have it. So i decided to get 690SE. It works quite well

  • How much does the pro78 se retail for? Which stores in USA carry it?

  • I paid $169.99 PreOrder Price.....Clutchfield,Amazon,Buyradardetector,etc

  • and i have a the 2008 model so thats the REV C im guessing

  • whats the diff b/n the whistler pro 78 and the whistler pro 78 SE

  • Improved Ka Band Sensitivity

  • Question...if i mount the RD low like urs..does it decrease the performace of REAR radar/laser pickup???? signal from rear

  • Good question and I'll render an opinion.

With respect to radar, given its divergence, I doubt you'd experience much difference high or low to rear radar shots.

With laser on the other hand, perhaps, but reliably getting laser alerts from the back using a conventional detector alone can be tricky.

To maximize your chances, you'd want your detector to have a clear rear line-of-sight in the center of your windscreen's horizontal plane.

It is also good to know where the rear sensor is on it.

  • Thanks for ur opinion...

Problem is I live in California..I can;t mount anything on front window..So My Whistler Pro78 RD sit on Dash mounted using Bean Bag..........Don;t have clear rearline view...

  • Sure, no problem and I understand your concern.

I happened to also comment below with an alternative that may just work. A nice thing about the shifter ZR series is that I believe you can disable the shifting (ie; jamming) function and use it solely as a very sensitive (front/rear) laser detector.

That way you wouldn't have to be worry about getting yourself "sideways" with any laws specifically prohibiting jammer use.

  • If you are especially concerned about rear laser, then you may want to consider using a dedicated rear laser detector/jammer.

Escort provides the ZR4 which includes a dedicated rear laser transponder and I believe is offering the previous model, the ZR3 at a clearance price for a limited time.

Not only would you get better rear laser alerting, but you'd have some additional advantages with either of those two units.
