Prot aoe gets alot better after you get to northrend, so about level 68. it gets AMAZING at level 71 because if you get the proper talents, then divine plea refreshes every hit, so thats infinite mana.
Ya, I was prot aoe grinding in plaguelands side by side with a mage(not in the same group). The mage was taking on like 20 mobs at a time while I was taking on like 10-12. By the 2nd day in plague the mage had leveled like 6 levels while I had gotten 3 I think. I did see her die a lot though, while I never died.
I have a lvl 65 mage, was specc'd frost cand could AoE grind very well specc'd fire now for instancing. I have made a paladin as an alt and am lvling him now, I might spec protection in mid 30's to see how well he does at it. :)
He did however use bubble twice to first aid, but still impressive. My rogue got pwned up there a couple times, though lower end gear, he still can't take that elite solo.
Simply from the money drops alone (not even including grays) you can make up to 4g. When you throw in the signets and tombs you get from them...And then if you happen to get a green BoE drop....This kind of grinding pays for itself. Durability costs are no problem.

Prot paladins are very efficient AoE grinders. Even as a holy paladin I can still AoE grind about 5 normal demons pre lvl 70, so imagine what would happen if you challenged a decent geared prot pally to do the same. He'd pull 20 at least just like this guy.

Hobbs once inspired me to make a prot pally, and now that im lvl 70, i realize that Hobbs is a shame to all the pally tanks, he has no tanking gear, he doesnt even have 10k health unbuffed and he isnt crit immune. he might look great doing big pulls in lower level instances, but he'll never make it in raids

Apparently you're not in his Guild or haven't seen many of his Videos. He sacrifices some of the gear he uses for 70 (The one with stam and resilience etc.) For lower level gear that has AoE procs. He uses separate gear for running people and doing the instances with his Guild.
Learn about who you try to talk trash about before you actually try to talk trash about them, because it turns out, Hobbs is better than you. You have no right to say anything bad about him.
Paladins are just that overpowered. I can tank, heal and dps at the same time. I usually top out at around 1500 dps per session, can heal to full just by blocking and hold a good 1k tps on each mob.
When you're farming there and not scryer, like myself. You can sell the signets/tombs you get for quite a large some of coin. I sell 250 signets for 250g and 10 Tombs for 120g on my server atm. I farm about 250 signets and 10 tombs easily, and the repair bill is covered just by the mobs coin drops themselves. If you aggro all 30 you can make easily 4g a pull just in coin drops not including cloth, greens, blues and vendor trash.
At the time I was using Rank 3, but that was before I had my Figurine of the Colossus so I was judging light and using Seal of Wisdom because I'd almost die and run out of mana at the same time. Now I use rank 6, and use/judge Wisdom.
Ahhh I see. That trinket really is amazing for these types of pulls, gotta love tanking 20+ mobs and your health going up! Burzum on Malygos US realm is my paladin by the way.
But I specced out of prot for raid healing :( My gear isn't anything special, mostly quest blues and gear out of lvl 70 instances. 489 def, 210 +spell damage, 15% parry, 17% dodge, 19% block.

frost mages can aoe grind very well but if they screw up or one of there aoe's gets resisted then that screws them over completely
