We have two cairns, a red male (he has a grey tail now... fox!) named Muffin, and a blondish female named Cookie. When I come home from boarding school at weekends, Cookie makes that growly noise when she wants my attention. It's so cute :3

exactly what my cairn used to do :D BEST breed EVER. you have a beautiful dog too. they are so loving and affectionate...a week ago my dad gave ours back to the breeders because zack (our cairn) was too much to handle. now i feel lonely and my cat isn't as fun, caring or entertaining as the zackatron was :( . go the cairn.

Last year my cairn was home alone 8 hours a day and he was fine...this year Im in college so im home more than Im at school so when I get home hes either sleeping or barking at the bunnies in the yard from our bay window

@winracso - i've had cairn terriers most of my life. they are very energetic dogs who need 1-2 good (30 minute) walks per day. they are very independent and active by nature, and they may get rambunctious if they're left inside by themselves too much.

I work 9 to 5, monday through friday and my guy does fine. 1/2 hour walk is good and 1/2 play time during the week and an hour walk on saturday and sunday is good. Don't over feed the little fellow and you should have no problem

My old dog liked ripping napkins... he collected all of the ones who fell to the floor, hid them under dad's bed. We didn't find out until years later when mom saw him slink down there, she bowed down to see what he was doing, had to drag him out by the tail. But I've never met a more crazy dog, he was a Cairn as well.
