If you're looking for 80's sounds, a mini moog won't help you too much. Juno 60, Oberheim OBX, or Korg Poly800 will suffice. If you can't afford that Alesis does a good VA synth.

The 80's is all about sequencing and drum-machines and affordable polyphonic synths... Easily replicatable with modern technology.
