She gave an interview where she said this song is about a girl sleeping with a guy, "I couldn't, I wouldn't say no", and she falls in love with him. But everyone is telling her that she's too young, etc.. But then it changes into her perspective telling them that "weren't there beneath his stare" and that they can't possible understand the spell he had over her. When she was with him, she was stripped of all her worries and her troubles until she was "bare" and free.

This is probably my favourite ever song. I have always wondered what it's about ... I, for some reason, don't think it's about a gay relationship - mainly due to the fact that she's a woman, and I'm pretty sure she says "Stronger without HIM" etc in the song.

I think it may be about the end of a relationship. I think she is talking about people telling her everything will be fine without this person but she's saying "they" didn't see the goodness of the relationship and what it was like for her and she's saying it's not easy to let it go. The Sound of white is about Death. This song is about a relationship. It sounds like a gay relationship. "you're too young to even know, just don't let it grow". "Now I will be waiting for the world to hear my song".. (find out). "So they can tell me I was wrong". (obvious)

To me, it's a couple who is so in love and want to share their love openly. Basically in the end she says screw you all.. They don't know, "They weren't there" so she "couldn't say no".
