Fascinating...it embodies the optimism that underlay the independence of the African colonies in the 1950's and 1960's. Sadly, that optimism didn't play out and instead led to conflict, war and dictatorship in countries the continent over. Maybe it will happen today given the positive moves towards democracy and strong economic growth in Africa...but at the same time neo-colonialism from China and other states poses a major threat.
! ! ! Je l'emmène en PL
These guys look so neat and professional here than most musicians today. In 1960? are you kidding me?
The music today is disgraceful, very erratic, quickly stitched together just to make money. The dancing is awful no wonder it is associated with immorality.
How about the dressing? very uncivil. It is not good for the Congolese people either because this SUKUS madness does not reflect what the true congolese musicians are made of.
Let us learn from the geniuses of 60's through 80's.
Amen as well! As long as Congo remains a "criminalcracy", as long as criminals still run the Congo, as long as they insist in selling the Congo to foreigners (including the Chinese), as long as that mafia is still on power, there is no hope. Congolese must wake up and take their destiny into their own hands by all means.
@derkeizeremperor60 AMEN my brother. He could made Congo a paradis, the healthiest country in Africa, the best country, the United States of Africa...but that man didn't love Congo for what it was, I loved it for what it had (gold, diamants, etc)..Today we are paying for his mistakes.
It's great to get to know these rare and fine old recordings from Africa. Most of these are totally unknown here in Middle Europe. Thanks for posting!
