  • Just because someone else is wrong, doesn't make you right. Both the US and China ought to know that by now...

  • if China was democracy it would be as poor as India and the population would be over 1.6 billion people...such a big population needs strong order and discipline

  • @bulgaro84

Damn! You are ignorant and you don´t understand what democracy is or what it stands for!

  • politic is politic

  • Look at the shameless, brainwashed Chinese here who are blatantly denying the violation of human rights in China. or are they those 35 thousand buggers whom Chinese government employ for propaganda on the net?

  • @ashutoshmikku who are you to tell Chinese people if they are allowed to express their opinions or not?

  • your argument is stupid and therefore deserve no reply.

  • @ashutoshmikku your argument proves you can't stand that Chinese people are expressing their own opinion.

  • Human Rights Watch is an US government entity.

the shameless western people are still holding onto their century old double standards and obsolete moral high ground.

Stop killing in Iraq and Afganistan

if u dont... dont you DARE speak against another nation.

    FK USA

  • First, of all, I am Canadian. Though Canadians are trying to peace-keep in Afghanistan, we only try to stop terrorists who have been terrorizing civilians. I am also appalled by some of the atrocities committed in the wars in the Middle East. But we are there to protect rights. We don't support baseless killing. I, am also appalled by some of the US's wrongdoing. Both China and USA have done wrong. But it's China that hasn't admitted, and has suppressed people from saying, anything.

  • i agree with PRCForever

  • @PRCForever I am quite against your close-minded comments that only go so far as to spread hatred. It is true that some Americans have been blind, but nonetheless, I am not supporting any violence whatsoever. Which is why I am thoroughly against using other nations as decoys, or going against people trying to stop human rights abuses. As well, not all Americans are extreme bigots. I'd like to ask why you don't comment on your country's affairs while pointing fingers at others, just like some.

  • Comment removed

  • @PRCForever As well, it would be my pleasure to have an intelligent debate with you. And I suggest you look at HRW's page on American issues.

  • I hate how the Chinese government is able to get away with their atrocitIES. While it continues to utilise its ties across the world for its own suppressive interests, China also commits internal atrocities that have hardly been addressed by governments. Shame on you, xings0527, as you're obviously trying to defend the Communists' actions by using other historical events as examples. Regardless, China still should have NEVER suppressed protests and opinions like these, EVER.

  • I also hate it how the US government is able to massacre 2 countries in the middle east even up until now and still get away with it

shame on USA and human rights watch.

western people should all go die

  • read an interesting blog on this subject at

    w w w. gracejunction . com / blog / the-dragons-mask /

  • Xings0527 tried so hard to mislead us by jumping from one topic to another. Good jumper, but useless. What happened 20 years ago will never be forgotten. No matter how hard you and your government depend, it was still a crime made in front of the whole world. It was a crime! BTW, shatever China has achieved is the honor of Chinese people, it never belongs to the government, neither to the communist party.

  • every party throughout the world has to do anything to make itself ever-lasting. it is hard to tell which side does the right thing or not. maybe that time was not the right time to reform. many protesters didn't even know what they really protested for. they just followed the crowd. at that time, if the protest succeeded and won the so called democracy, i don't think it would be better than nowadays in China. but, whatever, let the time tell the truth.

  • The side that thinks it has the right to do "anything" to "make itself everlasting" is always doing the wrong thing. The side that orders its soldiers to shoot students is always wrong.

The students may not have had a clear political agenda, but they knew EXACTLY what they were protesting against. Do you think the soldiers who shot them knew why they had to be killed?

The whole world would be a better place today if those students were still alive...

  • The original intention protest was very good and the order was stable. However, the protest went changed as the time passed. The protesters started to burn cars and buses. I do not believe majority of these protesters were common university students. The whole protest thing just changed at that time. This may be the most wrong thing done during the protest. If the protest moved on steadily, i think the reform would be successful.

  • Do you think there will be another reform in the future? Sometimes I'm wondering how the Chinese put up with everything...

  • nowadays, the judicial transparency in China is slowly increasing. Chinese people can see how government legally judge the persons who violate the rules. Frankly speaking, there are cases that the breaking-law persons who, however, have power could have light sentence or even get rid of the judgement. Although some inequalities still exist in China now, please give some time to Communist Party of China to make China much better. We Chinese people do not want to have any social unrest any more.

  • I really hate the so called leaders who "led" many innocent students in the beginning but went aboard themselves leaving their followers behind without warning them of the terrible will-happening thing.

  • The student leaders who were abroad at the time were trying to gain support for their reform movement in the West. It was, in retrospect a pointless mission, but I think it's not really fair to fault them for the attempt. How were they to know that Western support for democracy has never taken precedence over our "national interests" and the profitability of our corporations? Most of us still believe our own propaganda too...

  • but how to make sure the support from the West is from a good start. is it possible that the West want to split China into many many parts to make the West themselves safe? How U.S.S.R. got abruption? u, me and all other civilians throughout the world won't ever know the real attempts of the gov.

  • I appreciate your concern, but I don't think the partition of China is a credible objective for the West. The USSR fractured along nationalist faultlines that I don't believe exist in China.

From my own observations, the most appropriate time to be skeptical of the American government's motives is when their plans seem to be at variance with the interests/desires of the business class. My bet is that the same rule would hold true for China as well.

  • i agree with ur comment:

The side that thinks it has the right to do "anything" to "make itself everlasting" is always doing the wrong thing.

This happened all over the world from ancient times to far far away future.

  • I don't care who brought this up, and I don't care what had happened in western countries either. All I care is the fact that people were killed by their government and nothing has ever done for them in this 20 years! Can we :"get over it"? By looking at what the government and CCP is doing to Chinese people, I guess the answer is never.

  • I wonder why this incident is brought up every single year by the western news media. Sure, it was cruel for the Chinese government to kill unarmed protesters but every country has its wrong doings throughout history. For US, the best example would be Native American massacre. Why cant we just get over it like we get over everything else?

  • Comment removed

  • phold -- "I wonder why this incident is brought up every single year by the western news media."

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the student protests in Tianenmen Square represented the ultimate triumph of the values of Freedom and Democracy.

Within three months of the Massacre, Pres. Bush and the Democratic Congress had renewed China's "Most Favored Nation" trading status--proving that the Cold War had never been about Human Rights, Freedom and Democracy.

    It was "just business."

  • The American news media may bring this up every year, but the American Government never has. They're more interested in making the world safe for WalMart than making the world safe for Democracy.

  • you can use some special ways to download this video without being GFWed!!

  • Comment removed

  • Chines people are not allowed to download this video

  • As I know, China's government never denied that they killed unarmed citizens. Their attitude, for me, has always been those dead deserved it. If you challenge their attitude, they will send you to jail.

  • 我没说过我要默哀这些为**死去的人们

    我没说过

    我没来过这里留过言。。

  • There are millions of people thinking like xing0527 in China. Many of them get paid for defending the government in public. I am not saying xing0527 is one of them, but I do suspect. It was the ugliest thing that the government shot people and still force them to love it willingly. The government has spent a lot of money on singing praise for itself every year.

  • watch?v=WbqIhPQbNIw my view on society. This goes so well with the subject of my collage. Watch if you like video art collages.

  • chinese soldiers slaugter their own people. BAD. American soldiers abuse and slaugter Iraqi people. JUST AS BAD, since all humans are equal. Conclusion, the world is fucking ugly.

  • Your comparison is skewed. The students were unarmed and the chinese government ordered the killing of these peaceful protesters. America's policy is not to kill the Iraqi people - unfortunantly that happens sometimes, but is NOT policy unlike the Tiananmen square incident. Stop comparing apples to oranges.

  • hey that is not correct, chinese govment didnt ordered to killing the people!

  • The Chinese Government IS an oppressive Communist Regime. There is no freedom of speech or expression allowed except when it falls within the framework of agreeing with the government position (on any level). Your comments are a perfect example of this.

    Good Day.

  • My prior comment was generally directed at xins0527 (Probably a "party" member....

  • come on man~ I just a student !

    bty, u make me lol.

anyway, i know ur guys think china just a horrible, unfree, suck, contry for a long time, so, u know its hard to change a "habit". maybe i cant change ur guys mind, so, i give u a suggestion. that is go to china. i dont think it is a hard things for ur guys. So, just do it. To be a tourist, a foreigner civilian in china, do not go with the Travel Agency if u can, than, u will know why i can say these.

    Good day

  • I have been to China. I Spent 4 months there. It is a beautiful country with beautiful people. People that deserve to have the basic freedoms of free speech. The freedom to travel where they want, when they want. The freedom to choose the type of life they want to live. The freedom to protest for or against....

My government does not control what I say, or what I think, and they have no to punish me for saying or thinking whatever I want.

  • let me give u an example.

    u must know the falungong.

    at first

the leader Li Hongzhi say:" if u ill, u dont need to go to the hospital, u just need to trust me, and do the exercises everyday, than u will be fine." to be a normal people, do u believe this?

and there is a video in youtube from him, its his speech, in that video he said:" if you crapping and vomiting with blood, it means ur getting better."

to be a normal person, do you truth this?

  • After he evade out of china, he change he "BIBLE", many things is different, its become like Taiji, people dont need to stop eating for 1 month, dont need to sleep in ice, dont need to burn themselves

So, there are many foreign didint understand why chinese not allow falungong in china.

bucause, they didnt get the original edition one.

  • Freedom comes at a price. I am will to fight and die for my freedom. Most true Americans feel this way.

That is how America came to be free.

    Do want to be free?

  • If the cn govment really is not freedom of speech or expression, i think, now i cant discuss with u. i agreen cn(china)s' speech or expression is not free like US, but thats not mean NOT FREE. Like your guys(if u r American) can c the B1n Ladens speech (i hope i spell correct) in U.S webside. why? cuz the govment thought thats not good for ur guys, the same as china.

  • The problem is you live under a dictatorship and repressive rule. Your govenment can come and have you killed on the spot at it's whim and there is no recourse that can be made against it. You have no power to change those who are your rulers in elections. That makes you a slave and NOT FREE.

  • china is starting to getting better, is anyone see? is anyone commend?

ur named ninja, so, you should interesting in japan. Japaness govement distorted their textbook.

they say they just help china and korea to liberate.

expcept chinese and korean, is anyother people care?

  • Sure the government now allows you to be become rich, but as I stated above, this is not the same thing as liberty and freedom. The poorist person in America is more free then your richest person in China. Becaues the goverment under the law of the constitution can not come and take his life and liberties without due process. I hope you see the difference.

  • U.S really good? go watch the truth about the 911. every govment has their problem. did US grovment admit ? I didnt see it.

  • Even if you believe that conspiracy theory, it still doesn't change the fact of american citizens have liberty and freedom that the chinese do not have.

I think there are some things about 911 that are quesitonable and need to be investigated more, but I don't think the government was responsible for killing all those people. If concrete evidence ever did come out that the President or ANY American was responsible for any part of 911 they would be tried and if convicted probably put to death.

  • Unlike the 19 terrorists who planned on dying anyway. People arn't so stupid as to try and get away with a mass murder scheme like that, it just takes one whistle blower or credible witeness and evidence to put conspiracy ring in jail and/or death. And there are also too many credibly disrupted parts of the 911 conspiracy theory to take it seriously. The only thing I think is suspecious from everything I have seen is the collapse of WTC building 7.

  • u said "Becaues the goverment under the law of the constitution can not come and take his life and liberties without due process". how can u explain the already-retired American officer Bennett and his wife got killed when they were jogging? the US gov murdered them to hide the truth forever. was there any due process? if anybody touched the heart of any party, the party definitely will erase him to keep on its authority among its governed people. so I'm wondering ur freedom and liberty.

  • More conspiracy theory crap.

Killing people like you suggest is murder and illegal for anyone to do or issue as an order in the US. Even if the President himself told some SS goon to go kill them, and it was discovered he was the one that gave that order he would not be above the law and could be prosecuted for conspiracy of murder.

Just look at what many people here want Bush tried on war crimes for his presdiential approval on water boarding.

  • However if Hu Jintao came up to someone pulled out a gun and shot them in the head dead in front of a crowd of people for no reason would he be forced by the will of the people to goto trial for murder?

  • Unhealed wound? More like self-inflicted wound.

  • Ultimately the Chinese government then were afraid if its own collaspe like East Germany, Eastern Bloc or USSR hence this murder of the hundreds of students/civilians. Remember what the old guard leader Deng Xiao Ping said shortly after: "They are having all this just to crush the communist/socialist government to build a western pro-democracy government, this is just a matter of time."

  • communists

  • Just another example that peaceful resistance doesn't work

  • Fellow humans

what you're witnessing is the future being cultivated during these times for the United States.

Please realize that terrorism does exist, but is NEVER ANY reason to promote any sort of precedent that would kill our civil liberties.

Even the 2009 Freedom of Choice Act is a threat, as it threatens Freedom of Religion

  • Guys look at the 4:03.IF it reall is " the ugliest, bloodiest " , do u think that tank was stop just because a people or.... do u think the tank allow the guy near?

If I was "the ugliest, bloodiest " person, i think i will shoot his ugly face or pen1s as fast as i can~

  • Maybe because this picture has become iconic as it was contrast to the other events of the massacre in Tiananmen square. As I recall from some news journal years back that the tank leader was ordered to go but refused to run this man over. The man with the bags and the tank leader both went to jail.

  • so, at least they didn't die. soldier went to jail because he didnt performance of official business that person went to jail because obstructing police. so I dont think there is any problem.

  • That is why that image is iconic, the tank commander during this carnage actually disobeyed orders and refused to kill the man. Some say the hero was the man with the bags, but it can also be said the hero here is the tank commander. This was an exceptional case to the entire massacar. Maybe there was some other exceptios we never saw, but still lots of civilians were brutally murdered for no good reason.

  • so, "tiananmen" just like many mob VS many COPs

bty, at that time, COPS DEATH MORE THAN MOBs. because cn government not allow cops shoot or kill for any simple reasion

  • hey guys, listen, it just like the riot in Europe after the soccer game.

Many mob and student came out and shout and scream and yeall. and they though "we r right".

when the cop said "hey guys, go home! STOP fu*king around! "

AND the students give u middle fingers and say :" yo bi**ch, F*** UR mother"

now u r the cop, what will u do?

  • I don't start spraying bullets into the crowd.

  • come man, u r so Hypocritical !

that is the Rubber bullet !!!!!

the soldiers just use the Rubber bullet at first.

  • Why is that hypocritical? Even rubber bullets are a last resort, the best way to clear a crowd is with tear gas which I'm sure they had. And all reports indicate rubber bullets were not used, no they opend up on unarmed civilians with full metal jackets. Nevermind the hundreds they ran over with tanks and vehicles.

  • ........they use the fire hydrant too, by the way, there is not one death because the tank roller.

do you really know what is the truth? did u see the cop draw and quarter just because they cant fire to the people, if u dont know, dont say it

  • At 3:40, some nutty lady said Tiananmen was "the ugliest, bloodiest episode in the history of the communist party in power." What about the 30 million Mao butchered? Study a little history, lady.

  • what do u mean "the 30 million Mao butchered"? I didnt get it

  • wow...30 million huh? 18 million more than the Holocaust...24 million more than Armenian Genocide...29 million more than the Pol Pot government rule...wow...I wonder why it was never on the news...hmmm...interesting...

  • Excellent report HumanRightsWatch. Thank you reminding us all of the courage and tragedy.

  • I think chinese government do the same things just like U.S do the same things to the Japan when W.W.II.

Like Hiroshima and Nagasaki's Atomic incident.

I dont think there is any different. It is JUST to different person.

Like "SergiusLens " said: " Powerful government will always suppress their people using military approach."

  • wow xings0527 your logic makes no sense at all. The only similarity is that civilians were killed. The US was at war with Japan, this is China at war (or clashing) with its citizens.

  • all right, sorry about that, cuz i accept my example maybe not really correct. how about the clashing after the soccer game in Europe.

  • US was not killing its own people.

  • wow, u let me know the truth U.S that is U.S just kill the other countrys' people

  • That truth is plain to see as you pointed out with the A-bomb. But every country tries to kill the other country's soldiers when they are war. The problem is killing noncombatants like children. Now have you let me know the truth about Tianneman square?

  • of cuz . (i just wirt what am i know about, not from the govment, not from the org webside, these imformation is all from the person who join and live in that time.) at that time, Chinese just finish the civil war, and the WWII, maybe u guys say :" its along time after ww2" but its not a long time for china, after ww2 china didnt get the amends from japan. becuz cn want let the japan know this is This is not the money can be used to compensate.

its long story can i write in my "channel" ?

  • Yes. Thanks.

  • In China chair sit you. Good job China now people think ASIANS are assholes.

  • Nobody thinks asians are assholes (well some might) but this incident doesn't reflect the asian people just some of the corrupt leadership. But hey nearly every country in the world suffers from goverment corruption as well to some degree or other.

  • Horrible horrible tragety. POWER TO THE YOUTH!POWER TO THE PEOPLE! POWER TO DEMOCRACY!

  • Human life means nothing to the Chinese Govt.I'll be damned if my 2nd amendment right is EVER infringed upon!!!!!

  • if human life is nothing, why not kill everybody??? Would China exist till now???

  • True courage in the face of overwhelming oppression.

  • Terrible

  • This is not an argument against communism. This is an argument against authoritarianism. This is an argument against antidemocratic forces.

  • What is said at 2:53?

  • i don't want to join any argument....

But it is imporant to remember this. light a candle for China tonight.

  • beep boop bop breeeeeeeep bweeeeeep bwop bwop bweep bop

  • The Chinese will not have free speech until the people step up and revolt (violently). Many nations have been supressed, and most of the countries that have their freedom fought for it. France, Ireland, and lets not forget the U.S. just to name a few. The government won't change, the people need to make it happen.

  • Although even now, the African Americans, Latinos and Asians are discriminated to a very violent extent in the countries you have mentioned. Throughout history, these races have always and will always remain oppressed because of white domination...

  • Comment removed

  • woah biggdawg...what's up with the language? Just because you can't argue against me doesn't mean you have to tell me f-off...anyways, are you irish? how were they oppressed or enslaved? the romans perhaps? was it the greek? oh...no way! the blacks made them their slaves? c'mon! what's wrong with you?

  • 西方人权组织只会假惺惺!

  • without this, china would had never improve.

  • "Anti-Chinese sentiment"?! You have got to be kidding! This is about the Chinese GOVERNMENT physically oppressing the Chinese people. It is about basic human rights. If you want to stick your head in the sand; ignore and deny (just like the Chinese Communist Govenment), that is your choice. My response to that is shame on you for beiing a coward. Shame on you for not standing up for what is right and just.

  • ascernman is right, you should think about what he/she said

  • I dont think people are reading what your saying right and you are probably getting negative messages.

I agree with what you and Asernman (apart from the coward bit), i picked up the first thing in front of me(my keyboard) and guess where it was made??? i am gonna stand up for what is right and slag the chineese CAPITALIST government off on my key board....lol

  • Hey China. I was only 8 when this happened and I still remember it. Shame on you. I will remeber this untill the day I die.

  • It's a shame that no one in China will see this video because youtube is owned by google and google helped China to censor the internet so google is just helping the chinese government to control, suppress and destroy the peoples' rights even more. Boycott google! and yahoo! Yahoo helped to censor the internet in china too.

  • TruthofChina--

Please go ahead and post that again in English. As long as it's favorable to Beijing, you have nothing to fear...

  • Yay Taiwan!

    FUCK mainland China.

  • It's not a football game, TRAyres. If you want to criticize the government of mainland China, feel free, but the people of mainland China are just like you and me, and deserve our support.

  • 性交瓷去美国

  • your fucking wack. every 1 go 2 babel fish and translate his channel

  • I'm from China. Every time I tried to talk with my father about politics of our country, he asked me not to say too much about it...and NEVER in front of the public. It's not only about the Jun 4. We couldn't even talk about what happened in 50's, 60's and 70's in public. We dont have freedom of speech, but we have FEAR of speech...

  • that's terrible, i hope that one day thepeoples of china can speak their mind without fear of reprisal.

  • Wow - I'm positively surprised that YouTube publishes stuff like this. And I do remember this view of one man confronting the tank, it was shown on the Finnish TV in 1989.

  • it's iconic in every sense of the word, it demonstrates the power of protest in the face of overwhelming military force.

  • the americans will attack people who protest on the street and casue violence, they do the same shit look at the hsitory wtf are those amreican fags talking about

  • Americans are not stupid enough to surrender our right to free speech just because our government is hypocritical about defending or tolerating it.

The administration has spent the last eight years trying to get us to shut up. Does that mean we no longer have the moral right to speak?

I've had friends who were tear-gassed and put in a "Free Speech Zone" behind razorwire in Los Angeles for protesting the DNC 2000. But if they had been at Tianenmen, they might never have come back alive.

  • in 1908 a lady named sally rusa was in the woods looking for a dog until a ghost came and killed her so if ur reading this u will find a bloody body in your closet hanging there haunting you and will kill you and ur family and if u want to stop this just sends this to 6 videos in 30 mins or this will happen good luck

  • WHO CARES? THERE BILLIONS MORE LEFT

  • Alles kommunist idiot.

  • man you guys are fucked up

  • Die Wang Dan traitor, die!

  • there should be more Chinese commenting on this not just white women and Wan Dan - where is the voice of Chinas youth even those overseas taiwan hk etc etc

    What about Tibet?

  • The Chinese Secret Police have agents and informants in every Chinese overseas community, and they keep track of who says what. Nearly everybody has somebody they can still get to.

  • and you know they exist everywhere because...?

  • I live in the San Francisco Bay area where it's common knowledge among the Chinese American community. The Secret Police are especially keen to recruit at least one informant in every group of graduate/professional students on American campuses. Several Chinese friends have told me they feel free to speak only to Americans, and not to other Chinese, because of fear of informants. Whether these informants exist or not, their effect on the self-censorship of the overseas community is real.

  • i totally agree, but i think that the reason there is little chinese input is self explanitory, they are suppressed...

  • Not in Hong Kong. People in Hong Kong are talking about that everywhere (TV, newspaper, radio, school, on the street) as this year is 20th anniversary. Tonight 4 June 09 , Hong Kong people will gather together in Victoria park and light candle to memorize those who died in the square.

  • You will not be able to continue forever spreading your lies and slandering the dead. You can dispose of the bodies and wash the blood away from the square, but the world knows what happened, and we will never forget.

  • Ya right - it was all stunt doubles and really advanced special effects - who that's close to you have they got in their sights ?

  • eblunot, that incident is an actual incident that claimed the lives of hundreds, and I really doubt Stephen Spielburg helped China fake a massacre.

  • Sorry - I didn't express sarcasm well enough for you to figure it out - of course it happened - they've tried their best to make it all "disappear" with the usual "tell a lie enough times it will become real" technique.GWB thought he was a master at it too.

  • Some people really don't get sarcasm.

  • Tian'Anmen will always be remembered as a dark history in humanity.

How about the Hiroshima and Nagasaki's Atomic incident?

Powerful government will always suppress their people using military approach.

  • What do you mean "suppress their people" with regards to the atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? The US attacked a two foreign cities, they didn't use them atomic bombs to suppress their own.

  • That was to end a war, not to suppress anybody. Besides, those weren't even our people.
