  • ive rode in the cab of one . also in an AEM-7 as well all on the same day. that was about 4 months ago.

  • Cool beans... The closest thing I have come to that, I got to drive a working scale model in wenatchee, wa, at a river side model railway club that was running their steam and diesel train, should look it up. was a great experience as a child I think I spent about 4 hours with them as they spent time warming up the steam engine, and I got to drive the diesel, in fact the steam engine was an toy for an orchard owner in the local area over there long time ago...

  • WoW...nice catch. This is pretty rare. they usally stick cars there moving in the back of the train, the the 2 Amtrak units will probably be the ones taking them off the train and moving them to wherever they're needed. 1st unit looks as if its top blew off, literally.

  • When they take the Empire builder to seattle it has a layover time before it heads out, normally, and the repair yard and some storage for the sounder is in seattle, which is the next destination for the Empire Builder. Otherwise they store the sounder in tacoma. I was surprised they didn't clean that engine at least a little bit, makes them look unprofessional, but hey I don't know if it has been anywhere near a wash station..

  • Ya, when I rode this train from Chicago to Portland engines were dirty too.

  • I was on board this train and have a video record of the journey from Chicago (BadCivilServant).

  • I saw your video, thank for the extra information on why the Sounder Coaches were on the set this day. I wasn't sure if they were being transported for work from everett. But your confimation allows me to know VRE was returning them back to Sound Transit. Once again Thanks...

  • i wish VRE wasn't giving those sounder cars back. i loved seeing F59PHIs in Washington. I ride the VRE all the time because one of the stations is near me. walking distance really. those cars had such a smooth ride.

  • You know I'm kind of sad they are back because that would mess with me and my son while looking for them on youtube... But on the other hand, I will be still recording them over here on the left side of the USA for all you lucky people that get to see many amtraks I'm unable to see... ;-)

  • well you know when i mean washington i mean washington dc. under the wires along with acelas and aem7s and other equipment

  • Yeah I know, rub it in I don't think I will ever be able to ride and acela, wish I could that would be wonderful, I just wish everybody on this coast would accept high speed rail and the costs associated with it...
