  • Cool marriage of science and fashion.

  • @keitho300 I'm sorry but Alexander McQueen is one of the most important figures in fashion history. What he made was not just regular clothes it's art. I don't know how anyone would have thought what he did when he directed his shows

  • No idea what the big deal is here, can someone enlighten me?

  • amazing... i love the dress... :)

  • gay or straight? as if being gay jeopardizes the notion of genius or something?

  • Can any body tell me what kind of robots are these? please

  • Did you know she was a double amputee??

  • @fre951 no she wasn't!!!!

  • Mozart K.488 Piano Concerto #23 in A 2nd mov. Adagio There you go the song

  • Genius.

  • Thumbs up if HOLD IT AGAINST ME by Britney Spears brought you here

  • yrfriendsrmyfriends from the movie inside brought me here

  • And at some point, the curiosity switched, and it became slightly more aggressive and frenetic and engaged on their part. And an agenda became solidified somehow. And my relationship with them shifted at that moment because I started to lose control over my own experience, and they were taking over. So they began to spray and paint and create this futuristic design on this very simple dress. -Shalom Harlow

  • : I walked right up to it and stood on top of this circular platform. And as soon as I gained my footing, the circular platform started a slow, steady rotation. And it was almost like the mechanical robots were stretching and moving their parts after an extended period of slumber. And as they sort of gained consciousness, they recognized that there was another presence amongst them, and that was myself. - Shalom Harlow on the finale

  • Could anyone PLEASE tell me the name of the song (the one with the wolfs and the snow/air sound) I saw the New York exibit and it reminds me of it :D

  • This piece is amazing.

    PS: Cobie Smulders?

  • the man was a genius ...

  • ART!

  • today I saw the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met in NYC. It was phenomenal...the set they created to showcase all the clothing...the lighting...the music...a perfect homage. Seeing some of these items up close, I just shook my head, marveling at the detail, creativity and sheer beauty. We also saw videos of some of his shows, including this famous painted dress, the chess game, and then looking through a glass window, we got to see the Kate Moss hologram with music. It brought tears! RIP

  • Yes the model sprayed by the robots was Shalom Harlow.

  • was this Shalom Harlow?

  • RIP Alexander McQueen, thank you for all you gave the world, so sorry and sad that it couldn't have been a kinder, happier place for you.

  • this has to be one of the most brilliant ways of presenting such an art piece

R.I.P. McQueen this will always be one of my favorite runway presentations!

  • London's Harvey Nichols has been exclusively chosen to exhibit a commemorative window display of Alexander McQueen's iconic designs.... THIS FAMOUS DRESS WILL BE ONE OF THEM SO IF YOU GUYS INTERESTED IT SHOULD BE ON UNTIL THE END OF MAY (2011) MCQ FOREVER!

  • he shed a tears himself! ITS SO POWERFUL

  • does someone know the name of the song? please :)

    RIP McQueen !!!

  • it is amazing

  • This gives me goosebumps.

  • she ok?

  • Cause people talk shit on him for being gay...and me saying that means that it doesn't matter what sexual orientation you are.

  • @anthonygreek15 Agreed. I don't understand fully why so many take issue. Insecurity, tribal intuition for superiority, social conservatism or just the latest trend is to openly hate the LGBT community. We should be working with each other, not against. Life is too short.

  • Black and yellow black and yellow...

  • no other.

  • 1:25 - LOL,

"Uh-Huh, you know what it is...Black & Yellow, black and yellow, black and yellow, blck and yellow!!!!!"

  • you don't have to like fashion to love this scene.

  • i came across this for the first time when i was fifteen years old and i cried. when i heard that he had died i can't say i was surprised to find out that it was by suicide-- even though i literally knew nothing about the man. i'll always remember him as the artist and brilliant human being who, for a reason i could never quite put my finger on, broke my heart. r.i.p.

  • @hobbyhorsemen

I couldn't agree more. Difference is, he'd been a huge inspiration to me for years before his death, and when I heard, I cried too. He's transparent through his work, we can see him and even say we knew him by understanding his work.

  • ...What? I guess I'm not getting it.

  • Can there be a love button? This was the first McQueen show I ever saw, it's incredible!

  • McQueen is the ultimate artist. I interpret this piece as McQueen 'making fun' of the fashionistas. To take a white dress, and spraying paint around it, makes you see that just because McQueen's name is behind this show, everyone will eat it up, and call it a masterpiece. McQueen was never one to follow 'trends.' I remember him in an interview exclaiming, "People in fashion are stupid." I agree.

A true artist. McQueen's legacy will live on.

  • These art shows are such a captivating spectacle and I am in great appreciation of Youtube, and the one whom uploaded the video for giving me the opportunity to view them, Thank you!

  • RIP, bless his soul (L)

  • I'd heard of this but never seen it - fantastic. RIP Mr. McQueen, and congrats Shalom Harlow - very few models could have pulled that off.

  • where is the wooden feet

  • Shalom

  • the collection look like modern day and it was on 1999. woahhh

  • Est ce que quelqu'un connait le compositeur de cette musique?

Would anyone know the soundtrack? thanks

  • Esse desfile é surreal, incrivel, inacreditavel !!!!!!!!!!!

  • who's that model?

  • @helloplanetmars09 Shalom Harlow

  • Beautifull, just like everything else he ever did!

  • Would anyone know the soundtrack? please!!!

    its so beautiful!

  • Why did he have to died?I love him and every collections

  • why does it have to be Alexander McQueen??? Life is so unfair...

  • absollutely mesmerizing :) he will always be known as a brilliant designer. It's not just that he could create beautiful clothes and make his shows remakrable performaces but the way those shows inspired as well as amazed...RIP McQUEEN

  • THE SAME year?!_1999

"chris cunningham__All is full of love"

    both lovely_lovelyyyyyy __酖美

  • really, that totally explains what i was wondering. it is so much like all is full of love. i mean that video is one of the most beautiful and confrontational videos about the human condition. i can see how it would inspire artists at the time.

  • Wie geht mit euch? Das war wunderbar Video, danke für den Austausch mit uns.

  • what's her name

    that's so awesome

    love it

  • @SexyCenamodelbabe It's Shalom Harlow.

  • thx hon.

  • This was truly a breakthrough concept. Blew my mind when I first saw it as a teenager. Alexander McQueen's an inspiration himself. xx

  • gay or straight, the man was a genius...RIP McQeen!

  • @anthonygreek15 what does his sexual orientation have to do with anything? was there a reason you say "gay or straight"?

  • this is unreal

    long live mcqueen

  • R.I.P

  • Keep it classy, Ronaldo.

  • we love HIM.. forever live!

  • @ronaldo20 you are such an ass.

  • @SpringtimeRosePetals all you can do is swearing. grow up little kid

  • @ronaldo20 no, i can do much more, and say much more, but i choose to be succinct in my word choice. plus, i at least know how to use proper sentence structure, although i can see that you obviously cannot considering the sentence "all you can do is swearing" doesn't make sense. oh, and i also have a little bit of respect, which you also lack.

  • @SpringtimeRosePetals

Appreciate Mcqueen's mind-blowing work and let it go, that user who talks nothing but crap about someone too intelligent for his/her mind capacity and is obviously is too bigot-headed and idiotic for this time period isn't worth the time to argue....

  • May the McQueen label live on!

  • if you die. i will crack a bottle of wine and celebrate. Fuck you.

  • why the bile

  • Such a terrible loss to us all, a wonderful talent

  • anybody knows the background music?

  • anybody knows the background music?

  • is the model shalom?

  • the one being sprayed is Shalom Harlow...

  • Love it!

  • R.I.P. Lee

  • one of the greatest designers all time

  • A true loss of creative genius. He was the designer that defined my generation. The designer that set the boundaries, yet to McQueen boundaries were limitless. There will never be another British designer to match his vision and passion.

It's heartbreaking. There is a huge void in the fashion world will be impossible to fill.

Long live McQueen. x rest in peace x

  • @sarcophyllus

Such designers deserve nothing but the same treatment they are responsible for animals getting.

  • @SaganAppreciationSoc,

designers and consumers of fur deserve the same treatment the animals get. But you know as well as I do that people who make and wear animal skin live in lala-land because they do not want to see the truth of how animals are mistreated.

  • I guess the line between genius and insanity is a thin one.

    RIP McQueen, we'll miss you!

  • May god Strike you down you evil cunt.

  • @Ronaldo20 - when you die, it will be in obscurity. Maybe it will be soon and we won't even know. You're nothing.

  • R.I.P. Alexander McQueen

  • An absolute genius. Rest in peace, Lee.

  • What a LOSS... So Sad, he was (will ever be) a genious, amazing artist, so sad. R.I.P. my dear

  • i can´t not believe...he have so much to give the world...

    Alex buen viaje.

  • So young...so talented...so sad xxx

  • Genio

  • dejame ver si entendi... estas diciendo que tooda la gente de 22 años es estupida? --- o en su defecto, te da pena? .... aprende a expresarte... y a no generalizar.

  • no entiendo tu comentario,

  • those robotic arms were a genuinely cool

and modern concept for a fashion show

Shalom held it together, but i bet she was a bit

dizzy when she finally stepped of that spinning floor

    Well Done.

  • fashion vs. technology

    i love it.

  • wow m encanto

  • this is the most, THE MOST daring hting I've ever seen staged... the interaction, the reaction. The balance between menace and beauty, the oppressive and the delicate. The mechanical and the fragile. Is she being abused, or adorned, she is right in the moment, and emotes everything to allow us to create our own dialogue.

    McQueen is Supreme.

  • @donglabong Yeah too bad McQueen died and other things like Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus is still alive =.=

  • OMG I LOVE THIS!

  • who is the model?

  • sharlom harlow

  • wow

  • This is pretty much art...

  • there could not be a better model to portray this vision than Shalom...

  • he got fired from the owned of lvmh becuz of him doing this... it caused large problems with alexander saying that lvmh's contract restrained his abilities

  • For Kesia19: As a fashion design student and a devout Alexander McQueen fan here is a short explanation to why these garments are so expensive.-- First the materials are the finest (most likely natural and rare fibers), the craftmanship is complex and though this is ready-to-wear it certainly is not mass produced and finally the statment that he makes goes far beyond the surface of what one may see.

  • Does anyone know the song that this is presented in????

  • oooooohhh

  • Bravo to the English Design!!
