  • I want this video on my 801T phone.

  • This is going live in Japan 2012. Probably with the Summer 2012 model phones from Docomo

  • Does it understand ebonics?

  • This is not simultaneous but consecutive interpretation!

  • I am a professional simultaneous interpreter and I hace to tell you they have tried this for ages. Maybe this time they will make it. Hummm. I will think about that on my way to the bank. :D Kidding!!!! Good luck with that!!!

  • I have been waiting for this to happen for ages !!!!!!!

  • Everyone that has learned foreign languages would be pretty pissed by that.

But its really a nice idea

  • @Gell1welt69 yeah, I have spent years memorizing Japanese and this does piss me off. I have spent 6-16 hours a day for the last 2 years man. I am soo pissed.

  • Ok, it is still under construction but it clearly shows where we are going. So , ten years from now we will be able to communicate with virtually anyone in the world without actually spending several years in the foreign language study.

  • Oh yeah, so I've worked so hard studying foreign languages as English, Spanish, German and Italian and these people just cheated me out of my efforts. Anyways, eliminate religion and any/all other superstitions and with this thing we may achieve world peace.

  • @braziliannyc I feel you.

  • IS IT HAIRY....???

  • neat but. then there's no purpose in wanting to study another's language. translators/interpreters are gonna lose their jobs soon :/

it'll be useful to learn from though.

  • This is gonna gonna make a whole new level of autocorrect, much like autocorrect on Iphone.--->Level up your personal relationship with someone:P (this will be awsome)... If a person says in english; "Hey, Thats funky you little man" And then it would translate to (in Japanese) "Hey, Thats fuck you little man"

  • they should have told the japanese guy to shut up so we can hear the demo....

  • It's a crude universal translator.

  • This pretty much negated the need for a world language.

  • зачот!

  • what phone is the japanese one using?

    1:57 .... i really like it

  • @pandacat17 |The phone, im not sure i think its Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc with NTT Docomo android Extension

  • @pandacat17 Im not sure maybe a Sharp Docomo phone?

  • @pandacat17 It's the Sony Ericsson Xperia Acro SO-02C

    /watch?v=ddGFENWoYQw

  • @Diginfonews thanks!

  • @pandacat17 And it's apparently shit

  • thats awesome O_O

But the problem lies.. it kinda defeats the purpose of trying to learn Japanese or speak japanese later on.

  • I want the blond and the asian please, wrap them for gift, thanks

  • Yet another StarTrek vision come true

  • gr8

  • Yay Android <3

  • this is so cool

  • Klaatu barada nikto

  • They are using android, yeah

  • Now i could recognize people discreetly calling me names and laughing for no reason

  • just buy a babelfish people... duh...

  • It needs quite a bit of refinement. If you pause the video at 0:51 and 2:24, you will see the English translation doesn't make a great deal of sense.

  • @punchthedog Compare it to the google translation function, and it is much much better. Translating between two functionally different languages is quite a task, they did it well, you can sort of figure out what the translation meant.

  • @dada236 What do you interpret the top translation at 0:51 to mean? "It was under one month...etc." Maybe I'm thick but I haven't an idea what it's trying to convey.

  • @dada236 THe diet session will end in one month from now on june 22nd. Concerning the deficit covering bond publication necessary for the budget of 2011, it is to be connected with the future policy and political situation.

Theres no context to it, so neither can i say what its talking about but its about.

  • this is just pure sex

  • When I can go to china and converse with anyone using a fluent translation system, the world will truly be a smaller place. This is a crucial step towards world peace; the tearing down of cultural misunderstandings and prejudices.

  • @RareVDO Could say something similar to you as well. There are still more people talking Chinese natively than all the English speaking nations combined. Language has a lot of hidden knowledge built in though, and it would be a true loss if we all abandoned our own languages in favor of English. But English makes an excellent 2nd language in that case. And I would advocate for everyone to be at least bi-lingual, including those speaking English natively.

  • Great!

  • The grand-father of Starfleet's universal communicator :P

  • wow, this is great stuff! Breaks the language barrier.

  • That's great for improving engurishu turansureshons.

  • is this thing better than google translation?

  • great stuff

  • this is great. I need something like that right now.
