YES you can upload custom sounds

NO it is not just a motor spinning a piece of card board

There is actually a test program that comes with the NXT brick that makes different sounds depending on the light or color that the sensor reads. So it is actually reading the white part as one sound and the black part or cut out holes as another sound. If you have the color sensor and used different colors then the NXT would create different sounds varying on the color or light.

That's what they used in the administration to store data before there were even CD's and USB devices and stuff. It wasn't in a circular shape however. It was like a card with dots, and theyr position determined what the data was. It couldn't store much ^^

Yeah, my computer sound is broken so I can't hear. Is it random noise or a (dodgy) song, because it should play a song you know.

You should make it convert sound to pen markings so it can record and write as well.

WTF? Do you realise what you've done? It may be possible to make a music player using the NXT! If you changed the noise that was played out on the disc, like changing the colors into a pattern it may sound cool! Also... Think of building a computer/data storage thing. This is cool. 10/10.
