Netrebko is of course a beautiful singer, to look at and to listen to. But she's a little sloppy with pitch and French phrasing. She is in Massenet's Romeo et Juliette: "Adieu notre petite table" also. Renee Fleming's rendition of that aria is so much more accurate, expressive, and moving (although it's a concert version we have on YouTube). Of course Netrebko is a terrific actress in many operas.

That little gasping expression in the refrain, getting stronger with each recurrence, and the dreamy voice at "Loin de l’hiver" are very charming.
However, don't stare at her all the time. Use your eyes to look at Gounod's score. She drops notes starting 7 bars before "Douce flamme" chopping the coloratura to pieces. (Does she *have* to breathe every bar? Of course not!) Then she mistreats the trills at "Longtemps encor" skipping the terminations and omitting the a² which is part of the melody.

FAB.! I love Anna... when she trills it sounds like a trill, when she sings, her vibrato is just right so that you know she is singing not trilling.
