actually it is that sharp but there is a mechanism that stops it before reaching his head and that triggers another piece supported by his head to fall as his neck goes down. the gilotine is real but never touches him. otherwise what you said is correct. that's how it's done!

Looks like the bottom of the "ring "his head is poking out of is rubber with a slit- when the blade falls I think he just drops his body and his head just slides past the slit out of view. I think the hand sticking out is a fake arm that gives the appearance that his body is still at that level- when in fact he's dropped flat to the floor. Pretty sneaky ^^.

the wallet fire trick is (I THINK) a simple chemical(sp?) that lights easily and then you just shut the wallet so it goes out.

the wallet trick is done by spraying something flamable on to the inner lineing of the wallet, and putting a match on the inside with something rough to light it against. when you open the wallet, your thumb slides the match down/up against the rough material(usual a thin, smoth slice of sand paper taped tot the inside) and lights the sprayed chemical(simplest to use is maybe axe or a body sprasy, any arrisol will do) and when you shut the wallet, it puts out the flames. hope that helps

It works because there's a little shoot at the bottom of the guillotine, that opens when the blade comes down. Notice how it's on front of black cloth so you don't see his body, and it isolates his head from his body. Awesome trick though!!

The bottom of the hole where his head goes is actually two pieces of rubber painted to look like wood. They're flexible enough so he can slide his neck through them and then they just snap back into place. If you look closely you can see them move as he drops down. Cool trick though. NPH is rad.
