  • ComancheChiefSD - What a comment, "PA-RAM-PA-PAM!! LUCIFER RISING !!!"

  • I love this song and Marlene! Eglish versions of her songs are not so well but I don't know german language at all and well... could someone translate the lyrics? You know, I want to use it for my video editing but I don't want to end up with situation where the song is about sth opposite to video or sth...

  • the best drummer boy is the vieanna boys quir they do the best,,,

  • PA-RAM-PA-PA-PAM!!!

    LUCIFER RISING !!!

  • gutes Arbeit! Sehr gut. es gefalt mir sehr!

  • very very interesting rendition. love the change in tempo....wonderful dietrich...hate the images

  • bļe wdf lol labs.

  • fantastic show !

    loved the images you used..

  • Just love Marlene's vocals but dislike some pics of the slideshow, thumbs up to the song though...

    Happy Holidays

  • Marlene must be rolling in her grave because of the images of hideous creatures you placed in this otherwise appealing video.

  • Finom hang és előadásmód.

  • Ridiculous images that ruin a great song. Totally stupid and without thought and creativity.

  • @ajb1776 you have no sense of humor and sarcasm.

  • The extraneous goofy images ruin the visual accompaniment. It would have been vastly better with only the images of Dietrich. It looks like it was made by a teenager who ran out of patience, ideas, and images half way through the job. Too bad, because as others have pointed out it is a hauntingly beautiful rendition of the song.

  • It's the first time I hear this song in german, it's wonderful! It's a peace and christmas song and I love Marlene Dietrichs voice! So beautiful!

This song reminds me to my childhood! Thanks so much for posting!

  • I never imagines that Marlene Dietrich had sung this. It is a true historic document. Thanks for sharing it with everibody here.

  • Hitler authorized Goebbels to make her an offer she couldn't refuse to come back to Germany, but she refused. It's one of the best career moves ever.

  • @Fersomling Goebbels was an ass kissing bitch

  • @Alexn1067 :

    Ah, OK.

  • My favourite version. I play it every christmas.

  • ich liiiiiiiiiiiiebe marlene und bin froh das wir so eine großartige sängerin vorzuweisen haben, und traurig das sie nicht mehr unter uns weilt

    liebe grüße aus berlin

  • @schnuffellord Ich bin ganz deiner Meinung. Ich Liebe sie auch als Schauspielerin und Sängerin.

  • uber alle

  • Super.

  • Marlene, liebst Du mir nüscht, so lieb ick mir allene.

    lol.

    Großartige Dame!

    Gruß aus Berlin

  • wunderbahr

  • :)

    well done!

  • I adore Marlene... this version is very rare! Tnx.

  • wydaje mi sie,ze zaliczenie tego dziela do kategorii smieszne jest conajmniej niestosowne

  • You ran out of Christmassy images toward the end there didn't you. It's ok if you did. You might not want to admit it in front god, sweet baby santa-jesus, and all of the internets, but I think I know the score. (giggle)

BTW, the copy I have of that track is on a CD called "The Best Of Christmas", Capitol Records, 1991. Out of print, but found mine on ebay.

  • someone has this on a CD? MusicListener 19? are you in the states? care to say who's? or is it a personal mix cd?

we've been hunting for a recording of this forever...

i'd very much like to find an actual copy...

  • Marlene is a goddess. And this video is hilarious. Awesome!

  • during the sacred Christmas some segment with empty bottle of booze that is a profanity and spoiled the Greatest Malrena's song about the Drummer Boy!

    Merry Christmas 2009!

  • Ich liebe Deutsch, Frohliche Weihnachten!

  • Nizza Version. Das videodia ist urkomisch! LOL!! :-D Viel Dank und frohe Weihnachten ;-j

  • Sehr schon! Beautiful!

  • she is wonderful, and the video is hilarious.

  • One of the greatest singers of all time, and I love it. However I can see where people would not if you are not used the real German accent, and her style, which is all her. She gives this a personality.

  • Though I don't mind her voice, I must say she kills this song, and the best version is either the boys choir or someone with a much bigger voice, but like I said her voice is nice, just not meant for this.

  • interesting presentation, well done !!

  • Although I think it's very well sung and I like Marlene Dietrich very much, this is definitely not my favourite version of the song. In fact I think this is my least favourite version of the song, of like... two other versions I've heard. :P

  • the song is great, Marlene is wonderful, but the video is absolutely tasteless...

  • Love it!!! All I can think of is Madeline Kahn in Blazing Saddles singing this.

  • ich habe das lied on ein christmas CD auf Deutsch auch!

  • Where did you get this? I haven't heard this since I was a kid and Marlene Dietrich isn't exactly in demand these days. Thank you posting this.

  • my late biological father was German i just love the language and when i found out she sung it i had to listen, i am glad i did its brilliant you can feel the emotion not like some singers of today thay cant sing with out all the backing music any thing to drown out there prefectic noise sad so it is compaired to old music there was very little musical instruments u can actualy hear and feel what is being sung

  • me to im like obbsed with the languedge, saldy most of family is nazi or neo nazi, but my parents decided to brake away from that so yay GO JEWS lol btw im american

  • i have this on a christmas CD

  • what is with the freaky pictures

  • Wonderful marlene - wonderful rendition !

  • jag får ståpäls. rysningar.

  • kinda spooky

  • hauntingly beautiful!

  • I love Marlene, and the fact that she is singing it, takes it to a higher level - somewhere way beyond a nursery rhyme. Bitter-sweet, nostalgic. BEAUTIFUL

  • So very soulful.

  • Love this! You know what is written . . . . at His name every knee will bow . . . . great icons just as little children and the rest of us. I love this song.

  • Wonderful song and wonderful Marlene. Well done, thank you.

  • I like Marlene but anyway I don't like this type of songs like Little Drummer Boy. It's just weird to hear a low, adult voice seriously singing such a childish tune. It somewhat reminds me of Sopor Aeternus singsing 'I Wish I Were A Little Bar of Soap'... What I wish is Sopor had never recorded that stupid song...

  • no offence but all i hear is "i'm stupid" there is a distinct difference between german and nazi...

  • I apologize if I offended you. I actually have a great respect for the German people and language. I myself am largely of German decent. My comment was mostly in regard to her tone. It is slightly intimidating.

  • @gentbelgium I agree! What occurred in Germany could have happened anywhere; the shame of Hitler's regime is shared by the whole human race...

  • @chaosfive55 - The way things are going in this country, it could happen here... Still.

  • @JCJasion Don't lose hope! The American people's innate contempt for politicians should keep us safe from tyranny...

  • @chaosfive55 - I don't know, they seem to have their heads hidden, playing computer games on their Iphones.

  • @JCJasion Not all of them, and not all the time--remember Lincoln's words about fooling the people!

  • @chaosfive55 - A good friend tonight reminded me that America is MUCH larger and MUCH more heterogenious than the Germany of 1933. Ahh well. Getting back to the matter at hand though. This is a very haunting, beautiful version of this tune. Who would have thought that Maria Magdalena would have that depth of spirituality in her. It really shows in her rendition! I'm putting this on my favorites!

  • @JCJasion Yes it is! She had a marvelous voice!!!

  • The Pictures fits not so good.

But Marlene is the greatest !

  • There is a reason this song isn't talked about or played much and that is because of the Moores Murderers they play'd this whilst doing some terrible things and so the song has been tainted ever since. It's a shame because it's a good song.

  • Hi LoveNikki06

I agree with you. Listening to such a beautiful song and it makes me go cold! I don't know the answer! Should we wipe it from memory, or forget the connotations and recognise it as a good and powerful song?

    mazzabrighton

  • George Michael eat your heart out.

    Ton

  • I love this Song!

    It's THE Christmas song...The BEST!

    thx...nice vid!

  • Great Song!

    Beautiful Marlene Dietrich Pictures!

    Best Wishes!!
